Ahh yes Tex's stories and blog.

Pretty much used to be one of the biggest story blogs of LL, I still remember when it started and all the previous versions of his characters and main stories.

It was one of the stories and him as person who inspired and encouraged me to start my own works and blog and join up to the storytellers of LL and supported my growth as author and writer.

Its really sad for me to see, how many times it got deleted.

So much great stories and stuff and pics, development lost, massive amount of content we can't access anymore, or anyone who want just read it.

Its truly sad, cause would be nice to re-read those.

All the effort, and we talking about a very long epic scaled story, with great scenes, development and combat, from everything, its just sad we lost those. ?

Its really an ambitious project from you Tirloque to try restore the lost stories of LL, especially starting with Tex.

I can't imagine how much time and effort it takes, cause Tex's blog alone is very big project.

Im not sure how many of his stories you have access or can restore, if anything we could have something back from the last blog.

Indeed, it used to be the largest blog out there, which even now you can still feel, due to the sheer amount and diversity of characters and plotlines. But, Tex seems to have the will to rebuild it, and provided he can just work on his impulsivity, it would only be a matter of time before having restoring it to its former glory. A long time sure, but considering his more than weekly publish rate, the key would only be to stop deleting things over and over.

Furthermore, not everything is lost. There are 230 entries listed in his new blog. 230. Over which only 24 are published. It's quite possible some of the stories might still be there among the 206 hidden ones. And there are still the images of some deleted entries on the imagehosts.

Well, I thought about this for a bit, and I don't think it would be desirable for me to restore too many entries from a same author, because :

• Publishing too many entries of a same author would make the readers await for a work I cannot create, and place me in a necromancy plagiarism situation.
• I don't wish to replace the authors regarding their blogs' maintenance, it's a significant amount of work, and when they're still around it's their job do to so.
• The small library also aims at giving the spotlight at currently available or active blogs.
• I've also got my own works to attend to.

So the current compromise I settled upon is one entry by deleted blog, with only one to three parts of entries inside each. That way, I do have a shared treasure of favorite entries that anyone can still access to... And the authors have a visible reminder of what their work was, and what it could be if they were willing to maintain it properly.

I guess those are the best. Good ol times, huh? =(

Well, actually COD episode 1 : love is strange, was the fourth remake of Child of Darkness plotline, this episode being among the very best that Tex did at many point of views. So that means that when he really wants to put some efforts into fights, tailored dialogues, pacing and staging, he can do it. And that he improves ; which you can see by comparing it to Dovahkiin part II, which was in fact done more than one year before (and redone six months before), and which is way inferior in several aspects. So while I'm not sure we'll see COD storyline redone before a while, there are hopes for the future. 

If he gets rid of his delete button that is.

Since Eva and Tex first deleted their blogs in fact, it struck me some authors didn't backup their work properly. And as they were quite happy to have at least a bit of it recovered, I do indeed save the entries I like/or consider significant. So for some blogs, I've got nearly all entries saved. ^^

But :

• The condition for that it them not to be overly large. So if one author does 150 images of 1920*1080 PNGs entries, even if it's amazing work, I'm very likely to have to choose to save only one entry over the whole blog. Because as you said, it already it takes some space when images are correctly managed ; so I'm not gonna kill my HDD just because someone didn't understood PNGs weren't suited for common web sharing. 
• I do not mention when I do so,  I've not necessarily been doing so at the start of some blogs, and there is no perfectly safe storage. 

So as I said in the image management tutorial, I strongly advice the authors to save their own works themselves : at least two copies, in two different physical medias.

I will also add that while non integrated subtitled stories arguably require less work to create than inbuilt subtitles/comics, they are a nightmare to upload, and even worse to restore. That because the more images there are in proportion to the written parts, the more tedious it gets. And Tex's image/text ratio is among the highest ones out there...

 

To give you and idea, we've got two halves of entry there, and it's 200 images already. ?

 

Ahhh I see, well thats true and those are valid problems and points.

With a one or two restored entry, this seems more of a grave a bit in some sense ?

Probably not my one haha, since I know only Gwynolda's story is saved, and my story index is a bit big sign, what works I see any value from my own ?

And now the question, who gonna be the next of the daedric book? ?

Indeed, it may look short. But considering the blogs are supposed to be deleted, they should be even shorter/more dead normally.

See this as a manga you liked in a library, and then when you ask where are the others, the librarian would answer they're not edited anymore.

If there is a strong demand for such "vintage" stuff though (and if the author agrees, supposing it's not a deleted profile), I may extend a bit the maximum amount of restored entries by blog. But for the reasons cited in my previous post, I will not go further than a handful. And at the moment, I settled for one or two. But then, the librarian could add there still are stories just as good right next to the one you picked. And so the library as a whole would still be a cave of wonders.

I think Malicia would never forgive me if I didn't save Gwynolda's story (I may have the full thing btw, though I'm not sure of it). But I also consider your remake of Arilith's adventure to be just as remarkable.

Yet as it's your role to save your stuff, I won't report precisely what's saved or not.

Well it'll be more or less the same structure than this entry : the synopsis, then the library description, a critic and a sample (and sometimes even a little bonus). So if you find the work I did there was alright (and that you didn't skip the description part ), no reason you should find it worse for available blogs.

Restoring old blogs is a monumental work! Thank you for doing it, Tirloque. ?

I am sure many readers greatly appreciate it and maybe it will even inspire the authors to come back and update their own stories (or to make them available again). Tex's blog really was outstanding and I was lucky enough to catch some of it before it disappeared. It's good to be able to read at least a bit of it again, thanks to you. ☺️

Thanks for the good words, Devianna ! That's indeed precisely the spirit with what this entry was done : restore a bit for the readers, and incite the authors to do the same.

And indeed, despite some flaws Tex is progressively correcting, his blog was singular in size and dimension, as he was unafraid to change significantly the world around his characters, and had plethora of protagonists to do so. Yet, he restarted a new blog, and while he probably won't re-open COD storylines for a moment, if he continues favoring quality over quantity his content should continue to improve. And in many cases, the images are still uploaded somewhere on the web, so maybe a restoration for the full COD episode 1 isn't ruled out. Time will tell !

Imo your "review part" and the whole idea of a review-type-entry is just great. You are the one who always not just looking through the entries, but analysis everything, and highlighting all good/bad things in it.

Good then. I was a bit afraid of the reactions considering I do talk about flaws as well as qualities, but I guess it was well received since you and Resdayn told me so. Even Tex gave a like, so that means something . ^^

Overall, my entry aims to make people want to discover more about it (Tex still has a blog to discover), and while it's not focused only on the positive as the Small Library entry, I think I've done an alright job here. And there'll be small perks that should incite even more in available blogs reviews, so I'm eager to read the reactions for the next library entry.

Well, actually I'm considering redoing it, cos you know, initially that one was made with the phone and custom android photo editor. :DD  Although this gives it some charm.

Nora demands waiting on the Blood and Pleasure entry so we don't get a bad grade on the story as parts of Chapter 8 are about to increase the story grade!

Ohh, I didn't know you were the one behind that pic ; it's true it looks epic. Kudos ! Anyway, there certainly was a big of digging behind this restoration, but the title images for each part of the entry allowed me a bit of freedom, and so did the choice for the cutting of the restored part. So I'm glad the overall result seems appealing, it's one of the main objectives. Thanks for your appreciation, Alter !

Ahah ! Well, my associate is whispering at my ear that she doesn't want to get an arm chopped off on a grid while she isn't far away from Nora's base of operation. And there's something intense in her stare while she's telling me so, so I guess Of Blood and Pleasure's review can wait.
