You folks mind defining what an "Exploit" is in the context of a sex animation mod?

And what the devil is a bootleg copy? What site carries bootleg copies, and why is it a concern?

Does sound a bit like malware, in the sense that DRM is malware - and hated.

I know that 1.0+ is useless to me because it crashes (reported on the Discord to a response of Read the Guide), but the previous version works fine.

I know enough to stay the hell away from the "dark web". I accidently clicked a link once & ended up on a VERY shady website. Next thing I know, I got a WURM in my boot record.

Lost EVERYTHING. Had to do a fresh install. Found out later I was lucky.......Wurms can destroy hardware.

Be sure that very bright sites may contain code that could destroy your files or even hardware. GitHub, for example. See samples:

As far as I can remember, there is another mod that can cause the same status as NAF detection:  Random Overlay Framework
This information may not be correct.
You can check if you have it when you confirm that you don't have NAF but the problem still occurs.

I dont have to confirm anything, i have never used any of those mods and have always gotten AAF from Dagoba.

This was long ago.

I took the unfortunate opportunity & used it to "de-google" my PC.

My machine runs alot smoother & faster now!

Maybe this will help you. I also had the problem that the game was unplayable.

Make sure you haven't disabled emojis in Discord.  Click on the little nuclear icon below the last post in Rules and you'll get access to all the other channels including the AAF_public_release channel where you can download the mod.

Bootleg: Software that, through copying AAF, violates intellectual property rights.

Exploit: Software that attempts to facilitate the above in any way.

It's a concern because the motivations to provide free work for the community are slim enough as it is. IP theft creates yet another reason for authors to choose not to make mods at all.

75%+ of the software all of us use has DRM including Bethesda titles. That it has become necessary in free software that includes an API for others to work with is a testament to how low some have decided to go. Logically, your beef is with the people who have made DRM necessary.

There is one known mod that causes a false positive ("Visible Companion Affinity"). Based on your comment, it sounds like you have that installed. That will be fixed in a new version to be released soon.

Thanks for the advice. I read the discussion and deleted "Visible Companion Affinity" mod. But nothing has changed. I have buffout4 and in the list of logs I found a file named "LL_fourPlay.log0" it says: "unsupported runtime version 010A0A30 (expected 010A3D80)" Is it mean something?

That is normal.  AAF comes with versions of LL_FourPlay plugin for both the NG and non-NG version of the game.  Your game is version 1.10.163 (non-NG) so the NG version gives that error and exits.

You should have another file in the same location called LL_fourPlay.log and its first few lines should look something like:

LL_fourPlay querying...
LL_fourPlay query successful.
LL_fourPlay loading...
config path = D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\F4SE\plugins\LL_fourPlay.ini
config path = D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\F4SE\plugins\LL_fourPlay.ini
LL_fourPlay load successful.
RegisterFuncs
Registered crosshair update handler.
Injected LLFP into Interface/HUDMenu.swf

That log looks normal, no issue there.

The NO_ID warnings on your Admin screen are due to out of date XML from a mod, but they are not causing the AAF restarts.

Make sure you don't have any files from NAF or from Visible Companion Affinity in your game folders (including the MO2 override folders if you use that).

I've never installed NAF and im use NMM.
Total annihilation of "Visible Companion Affinity" files solved my problem! Now AAF 1.0 work fine. Thankyou!

One bug found (or something). Function "on PC" disappeared in "place" menu. Function "10 feet in front of PC" is still available, just like any furniture. Exception is FF animations. In this case function "on PC" is available. Sorry if I repeat mistakes that have already been corrected, but this bug realy uncomfortable. Thanks.

Yes in AAF 1.0 if there are furniture locations available the "Ground at X" options are not available.  This will be fixed in the next release.

Hm. In that case, it sounds like there is something else wrong other than the bootleg block issue.

For anyone else who doesn't use Discord and is having difficulty downloading and wasn't readily able to figure out how to get the thing working:

On my first attempt, Discord initially wouldn't let me log in via the invite link without a phone number.  I'm not going to give their data-harvesting people a phone number.

However, on my second attempt, a day later, Discord apparently didn't ask for a phone number.  I've no idea why.

However, it did not show any obvious way to download the file.

Apparently that is because one needs to click on the icon of a little nuclear explosion at the bottom of the "#rules" subsection in the left-hand Discord sidebar section "ENTRY AREA".

For me, that appeared to do nothing.

Upon further examination, that, apparently, is because one has to confirm an email address with Discord before being able to see the necessary content.  I'm not going to give their data-harvesting people an email address.

In my brief testing, they don't appear to block throwaway email addresses from this site:

https://www.emailondeck.com/

Once one has jumped through those hurdles, there's a section marked "RELEASES" in the left-hand Discord sidebar.  That has an subsection marked "aaf_public_release".  I clicked on that.  At the bottom of that section, there's a download link.

I don't know what kind of bad blood exists between the NAF people and the AAF people.  I hadn't even heard of NAF until I tried downloading the current version of AAF.  I don't have enough information to say who is at what fault.  But I have to say that this is not great from a user experience standpoint.  Getting Bethesda games thoroughly modded is already a significant enough barrier that most players won't ever get to enjoy it.  There are a lot of moving parts to put together, and right now, AAF is probably the single-most-difficult piece to obtain.

I also don't think that the current situation is doing AAF any favors.  The current situation, as best I can tell, is that current versions of this NAF thing are easy to find and readily-available on nexusmods.  It is particularly easy to get.  AAF is heading in the opposite direction.  There is an old version of AAF available on nexusmods (at least with a link to a newer version, but with little explanation and the link only visible at the bottom of the description page). I suspect that many people won't even ever see the link.  Of those that do, I'm not sure how many will jump through the requisite hoops.  If I hadn't previously used AAF, had no familiarity with it, I'm not sure that I would have.

I remember once reading something about how most websites don't get used because the vast majority of users spend on the order of seconds before leaving a site; this is because most websites are useless, so that's their filter to avoid wasting time.  For a website to attract a userbase, the bar to get an initial visitor using the thing has to be extremely low.  And the bar here is going up, not down.

As I understand it from the description on the LoversLab package details, the AAF team does not want to use LoversLab as the primary distribution point for the software package because some mods that use AAF are not adult-oriented, and they don't want to require users of non-adult software to create an account on an adult site.  All right, I can understand that.  That creates a barrier to people who aren't comfortable with adult content, means that they have to go to some site dealing in adult software.  Looking at the rules on the Discord thing, they heavily deal with interaction between adult- and non-adult content, so I imagine that someone got quite upset about that.  But...by the same token, Discord is also a pain for other people.  It might be better to at least keep a mirror of the release on LoversLab; I realize that means asking an additional upload at release for the author, which is additional release work, but it's also only one additional upload, whereas it can substantially reduce the barrier for a great many people to download the package.

Thank you for your post and civil approach.

Unfortunately, over time, the reasons for needing separate hosting have only expanded. No hosting solution is going to be perfect for everyone. However, at this point, Discord is ubiquitous in the gaming community. The vast majority of users either already have an account there or have no problems signing up. You don't need to use a throw-away account in order to remain anonymous. There are privacy oriented email services like protonmail.com that allow you to have Discord and other accounts without giving up your personal information.

If AAF were a commercial product I would follow the metrics you refer to (user acquisition rates, etc.). As it is, I'm not "losing a sale" if someone doesn't want to take an extra step to get AAF. I respect their decision and hope that they also respect mine.

Nexus did not follow the DMCA steps for copyright disputes when they allowed NAF to stay on their site. To me, this renders Nexus unprofessional and not trustworthy for authors. If people want to take advantage of their poor administration of DMCA and use bootleg copies of my work because it's easier for them to download, I can't control that. But, to be honest, I don't really want users who think that IP theft is ok. They are self-identifying as users that I do not want. Maybe they aren't aware of the facts and fell into using stolen work innocently. I do feel bad about that. But, the onus for that is on Nexus for allowing it to happen.

I can thankfully say that many users don't have an issue with the hosting, do respect IP issues, etc. and we generally have a good time collaborating on AAF. Their support, decency and friendship has been a greater reward for the project than I ever expected.

Can't seem to find any download for the AAF on discord. All I get is Entry Area with Terms, Rules and Announcements below it.

Edit: I'm dumb. Read the message from zeus below dagoba's on discord.

Running into a problem where AAF is crashing the game as soon as the game loads up the environments and assets, ea. character creation after the monologue intro (im kinda suspecting it's the characters/actors loading specifically, but I could be wrong)

Using the AAF version found on Discord, also follows the installation guide 1 to 1

If anyone has any insight it would very much appreciated.

After character creation? In that case, it's probably not AAF causing a crash.

The version on discord (1.0) works with both NG and non-NG.

Dago, Invictus Blade's mods, Autonomous Sex in particular, aren't running correctly under v1.0. Family Planning also has problems.

I think your bootleg sniffer software in v1.0 is conflicting with them somehow.
