Speaking of Snopes, I found this article checking if a supposed real image of Pluto is, in fact, a real image of Pluto. The answer is "yes, but..." since the picture in question is a real picture of Pluto taken by NASA, but the colors were enhanced to show off the different hues more.

Comparison in spoiler.

I will say, the unedited photo looks striking enough as is. Like, we got a cosmic jawbreaker floating around the solar system. Shit's cool as fuck.

Here's hoping this was not unexpected.

Just wait until more Disney characters become public domain. An endless parade of Blood and Honey-like dog shit awaits (as does a comment from someone, other than me right now, pointing out that Winnie the Pooh is not technically a Disney character).

But will they be as funny as this:

I think not.

Not particularly funny, no. For something to be truly funny, it has to be clever. That wasn't even as clever as Moe poking Curly in the eye.

Some might be tempted to say I don't find it funny because it somehow offends my sensibilities. If someone did say that, they would be wrong. It simply isn't funny. Now this, this is funny.

Sorry, no.  Here at the ministry of funny we have declared that to be distinctly not funny at all.  It all goes back to something my grandmother told me when I was a kid. "DrunkenCow," she said, "the big laughs are in dick and fart jokes." She was a church-goer.

Did she miss the boat on Uranus jokes.

I wrote a story about interplanetary adventure, featuring a hero named Michael Hawke and his efforts to explore the caves on Uranus. The name of the story is "Mike Hawke Goes Deep Inside Uranus."

Today I learned how to packagae a game in Unreal 5. I took the RPG Skyrim-like template and readied it up so it can be played like a normal game outside of the editor (and probably on other computers as well).

Was surprised to find out the project did have a main menu already made. Maybe I should've spent a bit more time looking at the thing instead of other projects? Eh, whatever. It seems to work. So I learned something today.

Gotham is a pretty good show. It's on my mind because I am watching it for the first time after being told it's a pretty good show.

You know what else is on my mind, every time I look at this thread, in fact? That I think the Pet Shop Boys cover of You Were Always on My Mind is the best version.

I enjoyed the first season well enough, but then it seems to lose the plot in exchange for more episodes as most TV ends up being a never ending soap opera, but yeah - It's definitely worth a look.

I felt exactly the opposite.. I found that the show went from "criminal of the week" episodes interspersed with episodes about the overall story arc, to episodes pretty much exclusively supporting the story arc.

On the upside, in time, there will be new artists and authors who do with former Disney exclusive characters what Disney (the man and the corporation alike) did with previously existing Public Domain characters. The first simply tend to be the worst.

Well, I don't agree that "the first tend to be the worst" necessarily, but I do agree that we'll see something other than exploitationist trash to come from Disney characters moving into the public domain.

I'm willing to submit I grew up on episodic TV. One can miss several episodes, and never be 'lost'. Most can be watched out of order before 'Dallas' helped change the landscape of TV forever.   :D

I wasn't trying to change your mind, just saying I have a different opinion.

One thing I never liked about, as you call it, episodic TV, is that everything got solved in a single episode, with the occasional two-parter. When I'm looking for a new show to watch, generally a detective show, one thing that causes me to not even consider watching it is if it's a one crime per episode format.

Because I'm literate and PC knowledgeable, I'm having to go through some old paper documents for the company I work for to see what to keep and what to discard before having them transferred into a digital format.

While running through some old employee performance review reports I came across one that described an individual as 'vacuous' and a 'sphincter' in the same paragraph from the then head of their department who has since retired. --- They are related to the owner, still work here and were recently promoted to head the same department within the company.

With my various dealings with the individual over the years, this seems to describe them to a 'T'. --- I'm really torn with just transferring it or anonymously sending it up the chain just to see the fallout.

I thought this was gonna about how English-speaking folks these days don't know the meaning of words like "vacuous" and "sphincter."

Embrace your inner chaos gremlin and send it up the chain.
