every generation of parent and grandparent age are generally appalled by “today’s youth” which applies to every single person at some point in their lives, and hopefully the parent and grandparent ages apply too. 

 

this has more than likely been a thing from the dawn of time as humans naturally evolve, not only physically but more quickly socially (and we are continuously evolving even right now). in the 1970s, older generations at that time were so shocked by that era’s youth that they established abusive corrective facilities across the country to send them away when they didn’t want to deal with them anymore. they became more widespread throughout the 80s but dropped in popularity in the 2000s as there was a greater awareness of better, more practical, less abusive options. 

 

that’s one of the more extreme examples, but stuff like that (extremely negative reception to every era’s youth) happened to those grandparents when they were kids, and to their grandparents when they were kids. there is no single generation at fault here. it’s just humans doing what we do over time, growing and changing. 

 

an aside but somewhat in the same vein is the spirit of human exploration. we’ve gotten to a point where we’re sedentary as explorers, thinking we’ve found everything there is to find when that simply isn’t the case. but the spirit of exploration is extremely dampened due to people thinking that the condition of life or science that we have right now is final, which you’ll find in almost every generation. 

 

like grandparents reminisce about the good old days, everybody is most comfortable with the behavior they were raised to be comfortable around. there’s nothing wrong with humans changing, or youth, or words, or acronyms and abbreviations. 

 

ETA: i use the word grandparents because my point is about time, but the word parents is also applicable. no generation is not guilty of this attitude.

The absolute worst, hands down belt holder, is when someone can't complete a sentence with like less than 2 likes. Drives me mad every time.  Like I went to the mall and like I was like I want some new sneakers but like........"oh fucking shot me" 

 

I had the one buddy for a short stint would do the "like" bullshit though he used the word "but"   and sometimes he would slip "fucking" after a "but"   -I went to store for the interview with manager, "buttfucking" I forgot my paperwork-      That was at least fun to listen to. We made fun him until he stopped doing cause we were good friends

Same here. For me it's especially annoying when they say stuff like: "I wish it was more like Game X.", or: "Would be nice if they've added game mechanic Y from Game Z.".

About 5-6 years ago I was on a bus in the Lakes. The bus played a recorded message whenever it was about to stop  - "please make sure you grab all your gear" type of thing. The voice of the message sounded exactly like Gopher (nearly fell off my seat when I heard it).
