Being intelligent enough to know when it's BAD NEWS. When the rest are all happy, dandy and positively BLIND to the consequences of their INSANELY STUPID decisions.

Having people reacting annoyed when you bring the bad news, only to dismiss you time and again..

To fucking find out I was RIGHT ALL A FUCKING LONG.

Then to come to me, asking as if they didn't know a thing.. 'How could this have happened?'

FUCK YOU. You ignorant fucks.

WHY HAVEN’T WE COLONISED MARS YET?!

So many goid movies and games were made from the prospect of going beyond Earth (Like Red Faction) and it pisses me off that we’re still stuck here with overpopulation!

ARGH!

There's no money in it. Duh.

Or rather, making money out of it takes too long and the initial investment would be astronomical (no pun intended).

Doubt that curious man on Mars or beyond would change his virulent, destructive habit for an inch tho.

Of course not. We just want someone or something new to fight against. "Ooohhh, a planet full of beautiful, blue vixens? Let's have at it then!!" I wonder how fast they would colonize planets if they knew something like that was out there? Fast I'll bet- with mandatory overtime! :D

Thanks.

Imagery serves a simple purpose - it makes it easier for others to follow the dots when things get complicated or too complex and thus wordy to be presented in just a single (multi-clause) sentence or two by alluding to the already familiar - The Matrix, Batman and Star Wars. Indeed.

There is, however, not much difference in the assets used b/t the Dark and the Light Side of the Force, nor in its brute performance, thus not in the (more or less evil) character of the protagonists. It's just that the goals are antagonistic, thus the faction the one or the other figure is fighting for. As Tron in the same-named movie (himself a famous butcher on the grid) once has eloquently put it: I fight for the users! That says it all already.

Of course, (interconnected) people are easily in rage, almost all the time and all-too often about everyone and everything. Now they have to understand as to why exactly. That's a question they have never asked themselves before... somewhat helplessly they prefer to tell us who and what they are fighting against. In other words, they don't know what their fight is good for, what their goal actually is. Maybe it's indeed just the expression of abysmal boredom or adamant frustration, as some say.

Discord I've commented on only to refer to the enforced use by Fallout 76 players to communicate and to coordinate actions in game in halfway proper fashion. Don't put the blame on me, guys, but on Bethesda and Pope Todd I. Holy Crusade against all mod heresy instead.

I had a half baked theory that once people get to be 17-18 and a couple years beyond, they rage against the machine (or whichever metaphor you prefer), but it seems as though the machine (part of it) takes advantage of that, more now than ever. I was reading something about social media trying to keep the yelling to a minimum, and getting in trouble for doing that. Hosting a forum is real PITA.

For some the idea is to walk in and stir discord, whatever side you're on. OK I've only been invited to very classy bars, but I've been told.

spaceflight geek mode.. ON!

The problems about getting to Mars.

#1, Long Duration space flight.

No human has ever been in space long enough continuously to equal a trip to Mars. The effects of such a voyage on a human body are not completely know.

#2 resource intense.

The ISS requires regular resupply and has an entire fleet of ships coming and going. A Mars craft would ether need to bring all it's supplies with it or meet with a tender sent ahead when it gets to Mars.

#3 long term planning.

Such a mission would probably look what's seen in the Martian, with a transfer ship going back and forth that would require on-orbit construction and checkout. Basically, putting one set of boots on Mars would require years of preparation work, just in Space, not including anything done on the ground.

#4 delays delays delays.

Mars transfer windows, the points where Mars and Earth are in the perfect spots for the quickest, most efficient launches, occur roughly every 26th months. If you miss that window, you're sitting there for another two years. That's what happened to Insight and nearly happened to MAVEN, the former because of construction issues and the latter because of a government shut down

Just as an example, Tonight (hopefully) Space X is sending up Falcon Heavy with an Arabian comsat that should have flow years ago, but developmental issues for the Heavy vehicle have held it back. NASA is actually considering sending Orion on it's Exploration Mission 1 flight on top of ether another Delta IV Heavy (which carried it to space on it's test flight in late 2014) or on a Falcon Heavy. NASA and it's contractors have been plugging along at a snails pace working on the Space Launch System (SLS), meanwhile, the SLS is basically all reused hardware from the Space Shuttle (the first few launches will use left over Space Shuttle Main Engines), because a few members of congress insisted because their districts included the contractors who worked on shuttle equipment.

this is a great thread. one thing that pisses me off is the lack of modding support for most big titles, and it's one reason i love skyrim, and bethesda. i wish big studios would stop being so afraid, or restrained and give us modding tools to allow us to have more fun. i'm looking at you Rockstar. jeeze they sucked dick hard.

another thing, and this one is game related, is where the hell are the good clothing mods that add lore friendly clothing that isnt armor, or trying to be that is body replacer compatible, like for instance a pack of leather clothes to go alongside the peasant robes, or a good lore friendly leather bikini series that has all the sex appeal of modern ones, but atleast is leather made...and what about some templar, or rather crusader armor...why cant we get some CBBE/Cosio armor like the ones from holy grail. those armors would be great to have in game.

another is that i really hate that people gouge for collectibles these days instead of being nice and leaving the stuff they dont really want on the pegs for others to find/enjoy, and with that how people act like certain collectibles/brands are somehow so special that we should look to them as everything, and they need to be the ones to make everything because no one else can do it better which is totally false.

Don’t worry, I have a bachelors degree in political science....

HATE politicians in general. GOP, Democrat, can’t stand ether side, it’s why I’m an registered Independent and get my news from the BBC (that started after Hurricane Sandy, I had better on the ground reporting from them than any of the local stations. Right that second I wanted to know what bridges are open and when the subway will be back. All the local stations brought up the relationship between the storm and climate change every 10 minutes. That is the discussion you have once the storm is gone and the cleanup is over and people can find food and have their utilities restored. We actually had gasoline shortage for weeks after the storm, they put us on “odd/even rationing” fo three whole week.

this too...our media is shit! really annoying to see just how much they push political bullshit instead of actually reporting on real issues, especially during election season, and the occasional celebrity drama, that no one really cares about. i also hate how the media has the whole advertising spin of we are great for the community now. fuck you, all you do is mainly push the race agenda, and the climate agenda without really asking questions, and offering solutions. you let people say whatever they want, and sometimes celebrate them as heros. also yes...both sides of the political isle suck. so i guess fuck washington, it's nothing more than a paid vacation for lazy ass plebs who call themselves our representatives. greedy and wasteful swine. but i digress.

Oh, please. This guy doesn't speak for my daughter, and she isn't speaking for him. I'm going to say this again, easy mode makes it possible for my daughter to enjoy games. This isn't competition for who has it worse. Neither does this have anything with dealing with the real world.

If this guy wants to play a harder game, no one gives a fuck. I'm certainly not going to be guilted into silence by this sjw tactic, and no one should be guilted out of wanting easy mode.

The fucking technology is there for everyone to play at whatever they want. If you want extreme difficulty settings, then say so, instead of whining about those who want easy mode. For fucks sake, I'm using a mod that tweaks the difficulty level values to whatever you want. The game designers can do the same and everyone can be happy.

This guy is not the final word for those with disabilities, or for those who want the option to not abuse their wrists, no matter how bad his condition is. He isn't qualified to speak for the many forms of disabilities there are.

Exactly, he isn't a spokesperson for all those with disabilities. Some are really functional and can do great things, sometimes actually do things far better than their non disabled friends.

People that take kindness as a weakness. It's actually a strength because of how negative and dangerous this world is. Being kind in the mix of everything bad takes some real balls.

I learned a while ago that to be kind is the best way to get things done. Doesn't mean I want to be at that time or to some people.. It is the best way to get things done that I want, in a way that I want or at least an acceptable result.  If a problem or problems come up and you have a reptuation of being kind people will be more willing to try to work with you and try to find some common ground.. usually. Those that don't or those that want to cause troubles.. means you can result to being more aggressive or assertive. If you are an asshole off the bat, assertive, dominating and such... sure you might get some of the things you want but many times you won't and becuase of the actions you took, you really don't have any other direction to go. If you decided to be nice at that point... the other party(s) will just take it that they won or you are sucking up or something.. you will loose so much more than being respectful, nice etc. to start with.

I wasn't aware of the cat you were talking about until just now...

Of course it was just a matter of time before he was taken. Before they got tired of him being there. There is only so long such a place people can stay before their final decisions can be made. (permanent asylum)

I know some that work in the tech area that do repairs on computers and such.

I just have to laugh when someone comes in for a repair and indicates this and that is wrong...

The tech gets the computer and puts it on his desk... and starts it up ... only to have to call the customer and ask what was the problem. During the discussion the customer is confused as it didn't work at his place... the tech asks if he turned it off and on or made sure it was plugged in (or charged up... yep, some come in for repair on a laptop and the lap top just needed to have some charge it it)  Then the customer is angry because he/she is still charged a diagnostic. Most times a report is given with many problems ranging from S.M.A.R.T errors, or other issues the customer wasn't aware of... but mostly their porn infected their computer with many viruses. lol

I've finally started classes to get my lab assistant certification, after going through immunizations, a criminal background check, a drug test, and dealing with the unwieldy, user-unfriendly Complio.com. My first courses are some unrelated to lab work, like how to write a proper paper. There's one guy in that class--either nineteen or very early-twenties--who is a living stereotype of SJWs: preachy, intolerant of anyone who disagrees, self-righteous, rants on sociopathic media about everything, and is horribly naive about the real world. He loves to talk about how he's "suffering" because he lives in a drafty studio apartment with four other people and barely has enough money to eat. Only he's from a very wealthy family, he deliberately has no job because working as an unskilled laborer is "beneath him" (he doesn't say that specifically, but he's made it clear by disparaging anyone who has done either), and he seems to think he can finish his eventual education at a med school in half the time it takes most everyone else and will be snapped up by some prestigious hospital after graduation to boot because he's "special."

I've bitten my tongue around him. I get angry when entitled people bitch about wanting "easy modes" in games and hide their laziness by using the disabled as platforms. When I see entitlement on this level, I have to fight the urge to laugh. ?

People like that are sad... they are so protected and so out of the loop of reality once they do start working or living in the real world..

Why not just rethink the line of reasoning that you've gone down rather than abandon it altogether? There are other valid points that you could have made. See these for examples:

When it comes down to it there is one truth IMO: target audiences exist and should take priority.

A game designed to provide a laid-back, accessible experience for the causal community does not need a hard mode to pander to the hardcore crowd. They are not the target audience.

A game designed to be a mountain for veteran gamers to climb as they struggle all the way up does not need an easy mode to pander to low skill players. They are not the target audience.

However if you were not designing your game with either of those philosophies then adding a difficultly setting isn't an unreasonable request. A primitive difficulty setting that just adjusts basic game stats is incredibly simple to create.

I was referring to the fact that I was getting a bit impassioned about it and losing my self-control. So much so I failed to properly explain that I felt these people whining about an easy mode were just being lazy and trying to hide that fact by using others.

Furthermore, an easy game can be made arbitrarily hard, for people who want it to be. See: "Ghosting" in Thief

It's only a matter of discipline and willpower.

It's only what you make it to be.
