Quick As You Like! (A Devious Adventure)

I have a very odd indecisive and a minimal involvement play style in game. I rarely clear a dungeon, take on quests, and have trouble committing on any branching decision usually.

The furthest I have gotten in the main quest is still Dragon Rising and that was to test a mod, shout? Maybe used it twice? :P

Only got involved in the Stormcloak Civil War for testing also and never got past the Whiterun part...because I had to do dragon rising.

Strangely enough I learn a lot of the quests' details through osmosis

I do however do specific quests and visit specific areas to get something that I want to have, Lost to the ages, Dragonborn DLC Dragon Priest masks, Unearthed, Black book for special powers.

Currently planning to do Dawnguard for crossbow and see about getting some dragon bone with out actually having to fight a dragon.

This lets leaves most of my saves to be pretty much disposable and I can test whatever mods I need since I have made minimal impact to the world.

really? quite strange... maybe some old files laying around my data folder.

S'true. It's designed to work with DH, defeat, submit, etc, but not depend on any of them.

any rough date for release ? im dying here without a updated esp

I'm aiming for halloween, but I'd recommend not getting too excited just yet. I still have a lot to do

I won't tell Eliza then, just to avoid giving her false hope  :P

Besides, considering the state she's in now I don't think she will hear me anyway.

I tried to generate LOD data for my world space yesterday. The CK glitched and flattened the lot of it.

So yeah. Best keep it to yourself :P

The CK glitched? Impossible! That never happens! ;)

Whenever I imagine how Bethesda operates, I picture a whole bunch of content designers, a giant department of art design... and three undergrad coders working in the basement for minimum wage to make this all happen.

I don't suppose you've thought of combining the butt tattoos?

It would take up a lot more space... currently 42mb for 12 tattoos, it'll be something like 256mb for 64 tattoos (I just combined all blue rosette tattoos for 16 tattoos total, each taking ~4mb space)... so more disk space used, but fewer slavetat slots used (one instead of three).

For me, I've got plenty of free disk space, but not enough slavetat slots...

Just a thought.

Example attached:

I have. particularly since I was planning on always giving the player the same team/colour/number combo.

The benefit is that the players get more slavetat slots.

The downside is that it makes it easier for them to get clean after a race.

It's a tricky one... ;)

@srende - sorry - just playing with banners to see what fits.

Yeah, the banner is nice (I like the new one better than the old one - easier to read), but I gotta say I'm with Srende here.

I turn on my computer, ho-hum, load up a browser, yeah yeah, go to loverslab.com, and... Hey! The little bell notification thing has a number next to it! Hurray!

Let's see, what's been updated, what forums have new posts, yadda yadda yadda...

Qayl?

Qayl has been UPDATED?

HUZZAH! The interminable wait is over!

All be praised, the savior has returned!

Hmm... scroll down quickly, note the new banner in passing, gotta take a look at that in time. Gotta get to the changelog!

Version 2.6.4...

Aw, man.

Well, might as well take a good look at the new banner.

Ho ho ho, it's Christmas, here's your present, little Timmy... PSYCH!

I just feel... so... teased.

Aha. Now I know why you're doing this, you sadistic little man you.

Don't know if it's possible with SlaveTats, but the solution that comes to my mind would be something like this:

Have one tattoo with all three elements, tatoos with any combination of the two elements, and tattoos with all elements separately, and have them use the same SlaveTats slot.

The player starts with the full tattoo. Using Solvent checks that with ST and allows the player to rub away any of the three elements, at which point the whole tattoo is replaced with a version containing only the two pieces the player didn't choose to remove. Next use of solvent would recognize the remaining elements through the version of the tattoo used and give the option to remove another one, at which point the tattoo with the sole remaining element would be applied.

This way, we could have the cake and eat it, too! ;)

Again, no idea whatsoever if it can work or how much you'd have to sweat to make it work, so feel free to disregard if it turns out to be a dumb idea.

It's not a bad idea. The only real problem with it would be that I'd have to store the tattoo state rather than letting slavetats do it. Which isn't so bad in itself but I can see it taking some time to get all the bugs out. otherwise we'll have sticking tattoos and the like. I think that's an "enhancement" rather than a "to do"

i tryed the pex thing there wasnt any tats active

Bear in mind that the pex is compiled for Slavetats 1.0.4 and JContainers 3.0

Easier to get clean after a race...

What about a series of tattoos (combined?) with increasing transparency? You don't just use the solvent once to get rid of the tattoo, it takes several applications of solvent to permanently remove the tattoo. With each solvent use, the current tattoo is removed and a new one is placed.

Zero solvents used: Base tattoo, alpha 255

One solvent used: Tattoo with alpha 200

Two solvents used: Tattoo with alpha 150

Three solvents used: Tattoo with alpha 100

Four solvents used: Tattoo with alpha 50

Five solvents used: Remove tattoo

That gives us one tattoo slot used, with the frustration of having to keep going around collecting ingredients or doing quests (or however it will end up you have to get more solvent) before we can remove it, with a more "realistic" approach to removal (I actually have no idea how tattoos work, but this is a fantasy game, so we can say they're like permanent ink on top of the skin, yes?).

If the tattoo-with-transparency idea doesn't work, looks funky, then what about combined tattoos of multiple versions, each subsequent tattoo just looking a little tattered (holes in it, pieces missing, etc)?

Maybe using solvent multiple times removes the tattoo but leaves a bit of scar tissue?

Eh...

Both ideas for the Tattoo's sound interesting...

But either could lead to other problems down the road.

Simple scenario:

You finish a race and then do what ever is needed to get 3 bottles of solvent and apply them to the rear end tattoo putting it down to just the number (or in the transparency idea version making the whole tattoo slightly noticeable -vs- it's normal look).

Then you are asked to run another race (as that is part of QAYL, multiple races, even multiple types if that ever gets flesh'd out)....

When you start the next race you get a new tattoo (or you get your old tattoo redone)...

Of course not by your choice, it's required for all contestants in the race....

End scenario:

Now how do you track where you were on tattoo removal... And how much scripting resources will that eat up?

Reason's for concern:

If a user has a low end system (in today's standards) and is barely at system limit on script intensity. Then something like this could possibly put them over the edge (depending on if it's a constant polling or just a tracking of 1 to 5 and reset to 1 when starting a new race).... or heaven forbid script lag and it not updating to where you should be on removal...

Plus that's more work to add onto Doc's shoulders.

Maybe in the future something could be done for the tats, but it would call for a clean up of the current sets with either type of change.

The change to removing 1 part of the 3 and letting the user choose which part to remove would mean there would have to be a version of each type of outcome or someone would get upset cause they can't remove what they want...

So new default would be 1 tat with all (number, color, and team) in each variant (so 4 colors, 4 teams, and 4 numbers...you do the math)

Level 1 removal

1 tat minus the number for each still with team and color

1 tat minus the team for each still with number and color

1 tat minus the color for each still with team and number

Then level 2 removal

1 tat for just number

1 tat for just color

1 tat for just team

(level 2 removal can reuse the existing tattoo's as the outcome)

Level 3 removal = completely gone in this scenario...

For this version you would need all the tattoo's for the default and level 1 (thats probably another 20 to 40MB's of uncompressed dds files in the QAYL folder under slavetat's).

The transparency idea would call for removing the current ass tattoo's and replacing them with a set similar to the default one's of the other way (actually that would be what is needed 4 sets of 4 numbered and colored tattoo's)

(so you'ld remove the numbers, rossette's, and teams folders inside the qayl folder in slavetats and replace them with 1 folder holding the 16 new tattoo's... and then rework the qayl.json file and make adjustments in the esp file)... PITA!!!

Then again if you call on a new sub folder in the qayl folder inside of the slavetats folder, replace the json and esp you could leave the old folders alone and the users would be none the wiser....this -vs- a clean up that some would probably mess up, hmmm.... again PITA!!!

The transparency idea could probably work out better and could be kept small (file size wise) if the color and team name stay the same.

Then you would only need like 16 tattoo's (4 sets of 4).

Cause the number is the racers number for that team and well the color is usually the color of the team anyway... so yeah 16 tattoo's along with QAYL marking where you are on the removal (figure in if you want 3 levels or 5 levels of transparency/removal)...

Then the scripting, then the trouble shooting, then doc coming up with other things that break this whole idea....

And would this also be used for the stomach tattoo? or is that one just removed by a single bottle of solvent?

Hay Doc could this be added to the "to do" list???

Oh and I vote for the transparency idea...

So, first time playing this quest with a new character since adding RN&D and holy shit does it make it a much more difficult (but fun) quest.

First a pack of wolves gave my poor Natalya rock joint.  Whatever, she keeps running and tries to take a detour around a bandit camp.  But she misses getting back on the road and ends up roaming the wilderness to the west of Fort Greenwall, getting stopped by bandits, spiders, and wolves every few minutes. Then her pace starts to slow... I couldn't access the active effects menu due to the bindings, so I'm not sure if it was from the advancing rock joint or lack of sleep. It didn't matter either way; her pace was reduced to walking and even sprinting didn't help.  Thankfully most of the times when she was being chased by wolves or spiders (one time even a troll!), there were always some nice bandits there to take care of them for her, and then take advantage of her helplessness.  Finally, she crested a hill and could see Dragonsreach in the distance... but ended up getting raped by two more large groups of bandits on the way there due to her incredibly slow speed.

In the end, it took over an hour to get to Whiterun, she had been fucked probably about 30-35 times by man and animal alike, and didn't have any gold to rent a room at the Bannered Mare.  She finally found a bed in an abandoned house just outside of Fort Greymoor, and went to sleep hungry and thirsty with only about half of her journey completed.

Amazing how fun such a simple quest can be.  Really looking forward to more.

Sian struggled out of her arm binder and was immediately attacked by a Breton with a horse. Instead of fighting, Sian stole the horse and had a pretty quick trip to the cage. Once she got out she stormed back to Solitude and disrupted everyone's night looking for Crassus, or whatever his name is. It was still fun.
