Well then color me depressed because I only ran FOMM a few times, and never with or within MO, and installed/unistalled using the installer. So now i guess scorched earth is the only other option...

You don't need to kill the entire Fallout folder. Or the entire MO folder. If you want to give some attempt to recover. Need a fast internet or a bit of time for this to work.

  • Remove everything from the Fallout folder (drag MO folder out if you have it there) except the main Fallout ESM and BSA's
  • Make a backup of this old MO folder just in case you mess something up.
  • You can do the same for the main folder. Delete everyting to be sure it is clean and ready. In the end you will only have ESM and BSA in the dAta folder.
  • Use the Verify Cache to restore the missing files. MO don't need access to anything here and it is advisable to keep this clean.
  • Install a clean MO. into the Main folder.
  • Restore the FNVedit, NVSE in the main folder (where Fallout New Vegas.exe is)
  • Now you have a nice clean basic restored game to start from.
  • Install FOMM where you want to. (outside of the Data folder and MO folders please)
  • Install LOOT where you want to. (also outside of the main Data folder and MO folders please)
  • Start MO. Let it do it's thing.
  • Open your old MO folder.
  • find the profiles folder. Open it and make sure it is OK and clean only containing the Profiles info that you need. saves load orders etc.)
  • Drag that into the nice new MO folder where you see Profiles and allow overwrite.
  • While the old MO is open find the Mods folder. Open that. Open the mods folder on the nice clean new MO. Drag and drop the mods you find there into the new folder. Dont' change anything. The reason we are doing this is to see and make sure that you don't have any other garbage in the folder. You only want your old mods. Check over the foldes and if they all are mods.then just drag all of them over.
  • Open your new MO. Make sure the links are there for NVSE launcher and FNV. Then add the FOMM and LOOT using the process you are confortable. Drop down menu on on the launch selection window and finding the exe is the way I do it. Others do it differently.
  • Test all the launchers to be sure they work properly. The NVSE, even the Fallout and fallout laucher.
  • Backup your new MO system.
  • Go and check the profiles make sure the load order left/right side is still good. If something is screwed up with one of them fix it and make a bacup using the tools above the left side or right side. If it is messed up and you have a previous save (from the profile ;)) restore it .

Now you should have a restored properly functional MO. Dont forget to go into the settings and add your Nexus account creditials and other settings to customize it to what you want. compact Download interfce, Meta info Steam logins plugins, workaround etc.

When all is good make a final backup and start playing.

I am sure there are some issues and yes I know you aren't a noob for this but it is also for others with minor to major problems to see and maybe get some ideas on how to help themselves.

Well, there you go, tallman :) Ritual is talking about FallOut NewVegas, but the same applies to Skyrim ;) Just read "Skyrim" and "SKSE" in the appropriate places. And um... skip the FOMM, just to be safe ;)

I couldn't tell what he was talking about.. FOMM, SKSE I was just confused to which game or what MO he was trying to fix. Truth be told I had the above for Skyrim and when through with search function and change each Reference from Skyrim to FAllout and all references to SKSE to NVSE etc. Becase I saw the references to FOMM. Anway.. Instead of FOMM you can do the same to NMM if you wanted to or any other tools where mentioned above. This can be done for the above and it is exactly the same thing. If there is confusion on any of the steps because it was for Fallout or whatever. just copy that section and I or I am sure most experienced users of MO can translate it to the game of choice and give more details. I had a wall of text as it was :)

Yeah i kinda laughed. It was kinda funny, but also In light of the situation i was in.

Say I need help with mo in skyrim

every response is kinda dodgy, 'like yeah maybe but no, yeah do that'

Then someone poses a fix for Fallout, and i'm just sitting here. Spotting the end of my sorrows at the bottom of my glass  :P

No worried though. I don't know if I'm gonna keep anything aside from the 'mods' and 'downloads' folder of MO. Then I'm gonna delete the skyrim folder and load my 7zipped skyrim backup. I have done this proccess so many times now, i'm getting really efficient.

BTW do you go guys have any tips for skyrim/Sexlab mods ? I have been here since 2012 and saw the rise of sexlab in its early days. So i'm pretty familiar with all the big mods here. But every now again i find these hidden gems. Like Serialstrip (http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/1809-serialstrip/) that found yesterday! Which is totally going in my new playthrough.

Wait... stripping in Skyrim?! What the Soulcairn? This place is being dragged down. What's next? Sex in Skyrim?

Anyway... there is a new mod out called SexLab Eager NPCs (SLEN). I recommend it, in fact, I gave it my "Udder Stamp of Approval". And of course, Ashal released a release candidate of SexLab 1.60. But it is a release candidate, so it might not be completely safe for a playthrough yet.

Having a problem. When i right click on a mod, the menu doesn't show up, i have to hold CTRL key and then right click on the mod for the menu to show up :(

Don't know if i disabled something by mistake.

Posted

I doubt anything you could disable could have that effect. Also never heard of it. Your game in Program Files? Can't see why holding CTRL would make it work.

Edit: Oh and is there any little error message at the bottom of MO's UI when you try to right-click mods?

Investigating a current Windows 10 issue that may stem from .net framework. From all I've read, upgrading from a previous version of Windows may cause issue with it, but getting Windows 10 fresh doesn't. This could maybe be the cause of a MO+FNIS issue, but new evidence has revealed this should not be true.

Do we have any programmers that can help me figure this out please? Has anyone studied MO's code, for example? Or the actual differences between WIN 7 and 10? Are there any, or is it pretty much all UI? Please PM me if you have valuable information I could apply to my investigation. Thanks.

Posted

I can't help in any programming-related capacity, but I can tell you that upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 did not cause any problems for me with MO/FNIS.

Posted

I upgraded from 7 to 10 and no issues here either. Well, the first time I tried to launch MO after the upgrade it just wouldn't go. But running it as administrator one time fixed that and it's been fine ever since.

I have seen many tutorials concerning mo but 1 thing majorly eluded me for a long time. I use many mods and because of this it was good to have a tool like loot. but it only makes that have the work. the real problem for me is not right windows but the left window ?? Having to sort this window is even a bigger pain the more mod is listed there. So is there an easy way or loot way to fix both windows to look the same ?? what good is loot if it only fixes 1 window and leave the other window so you can sort that manually to match the right window with 200 + mods listed ??

Posted

Sorting the Left would be very hard to do. What if the name of a mod is different? Ok lets use nexus id.

What do we do with manual installed mods? What criteria should be used?

Even with many mods they won't conflict all with all. It shows you them. Sort the conflicts and the rest is ok as it is.

I sort with empty mods to create a heading like "Basic Mods", "Texture", "Armor" and so on.

People have different reasons for the mods to be listed in the order that they are on the left side. I agree it is a pain to have 200 or even 1000 mods on the left side.

The only real solution is making use of the categories and other sorting tools available for the left side. You can say for example select the checked or the unchecked boxes. For example you have a profile developed and want to add a mod. Sort by unchecked find the mod and check it and any other requirements (not checked) done.

You can also use "filter" on the bottom. If you are using a naming system for your mods it should be easy to find the mod you are looking for to arrange the way you want.

There are also categories and you can even create your own categories and sort by that. then arrange them the way you want then return to the main system. (I am not familiar with this but in time hope to start using this system more.

The "Default" for me is the main layout of all the mods regardless of what is used by priority needed to be. This is the hardest to sort and setup as you get more. Once that is setup I just copy that profile over and over and over again into the new profiles then use the above and check off what I want. Oh. The Default has all the mods checked "off" except perhaps core mods (Unofficial Patches etc, mods that you always use).

so how do i install the mods on MO, i mean, i think they are installed... they are installed AND activated in MO but they dont show up in my skyrim data folder... also, i have no idea how FNIS is run with this one since everytime no matter from where i run, it does not detect any other mod behaviors... any quick info on this would help... thank you.

They won't.

Gopher has youtube videos which will help you resolve issues and understand the process from the basic to more advanced use of MO.

I advise you to watch those 8 or 10 videos to see what to do to help yourself. It might take a bit of time but it is very informative and useful resource. In the end you will be much more prepared to use MO successfully the first time.

Hi again Starfall ;)

The whole point of MO is NOT to have mods installed into your Skyrim datafolder. Mods are installed in the ModOrganizer/mods folder. This way your Skyrim install will always be clean of mods (except SKSE, which you have to manually install into the skyrim folders to work; SKSE script mods can be installed with MO, just not SKSE itself)

FNIS you can install with MO, but you will have to tell MO where it is. I gave you a link to the MO Guide on STEP, which explains how to do that (and other important/ useful 3rd party programs). This is a link to, perhaps, a shorter version of those needed installation steps on STEP. Click on the "detailed instructions" link to see those instructions.

And yes, Gopher's vid as posted by Ritual is also a good place to start. But as I said before: it is important to read and learn as much as you can about MO.

- Moo.

this be sooo much fun... i think i busted my MO... i cant add any executables... when i click add it just cleans up all the fields, adds nothing and only things there are the usual 3 executables for skyrim -_-

I just wanted to ask if anyone already has installed the latest update under Win 7 x64? My MO (v1.3.8) is running so smoothly and good that I don't want to update without a few reports how the new MO does.

Another question would be (slightly OT) why people are using Win10 so early? Does it have any killer features that would make migrating from an older OS like Win7 necessary? New Windows versions are a bit like Bethesda games at point of release. Hilariously flawed and nerve-wrecking. But after a year or so, there are enough patches to make them work, and the best pieces of software and bugfixes come from 3rd party coders - often for free.

Would it be possible for someone to point me in the direction of a good tutorial for using the creation kit in conjunction with MO (like an idiots guide to mod creation using MO)? I was attempting my first real use by following CPU's tutorial for creating a follower but mine ended up with a brown face (even with numerous uses of ctrl f4) and when I attempted Nifskope I do not see any textures nor do I know where to look for them in MO (or once renaming the copies...where to put those files)...and the list goes on. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I truly love MO it just tends to confuse me from time to time...

As a person who has played unpatched Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Skyrim as well as used Win7, 8, 8.1, and 10 at launch, I find the assertion that Windows is anywhere close to being as buggy as a Bethesda game entirely baseless. The last truly bad Windows OS was ME. Vista got a bad rap not because there was anything wrong with the OS, but because increased system requirements made upgrading a hassle and UAC is annoying. Windows 8 got a bad rap because people lost their precious start menu and were blind to everything else.

Win8.1 to Win10 is mostly cosmetic. Just like Win7 was more like Vista 2, Win10 is basically Win8.1 with a start menu option. There's definitely changes under the hood, but it mostly to be minor. Most of the new features are meh but I am a very big fan of two minor aggravations that are fixed. Setting up a window to fill half the screen now allows you to select a second window to fill the other half (which is great on a multiple monitor setup) and the image thumbnail cache now actually persists (in Win8.1 it would delete itself every time the computer rebooted).

The textures and meshes exported by the CK go into your overwrite folder. They have the proper folder structure. Just move them into a mod folder like everything else. Nifskope rarely ever shows textures because it can't look in BSAs and texture paths in meshes are relative to Skyrim and not the mesh or Nifskope, so even if they're loose it's looking in the wrong spot.
