The Mediterranean diet is one of the healthiest in the world, certainly better than Britain and America. Funny how you are the expert on what vitamin D can do yet I have not seen any government or health organisation promoting it in the fight against this virus. By the power of Greyskull, you are fucking dense. Like animated cartoon dense. Diet and genetic trait expression density and propensity are two completely fucking unrelated things, secondly the Mediterranean diet as pedaled on youtube isn't even KIND of what the people in Morocco/Gibraltar/Spain have available to them, but do go ahead and continue to trip over your own reproductive organs face first on a perennial basis... again. And as a matter of fact the governments of Korea, Japan, and New Zealand have recommended it, particularly to people of african and mediterranean descent.
Grey Cloud Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 18 minutes ago, 27X said: Diet and genetic trait expression density and propensity are two completely fucking unrelated things, I never said otherwise. You mentioned lack of vitamin D in the diet of various countries. "From about late March/early April to the end of September, most people should be able to get all the vitamin D they need from sunlight. The body creates vitamin D from direct sunlight on the skin when outdoors." " Sources include: oily fish – such as salmon, sardines, herring and mackerel red meat liver egg yolks fortified foods – such as some fat spreads and breakfast cereals Another source of vitamin D is dietary supplements." https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vitamins-and-minerals/vitamin-d/ That's obviously about the UK. Spain, Italy and the rest of the Mediterranean countries get a lot more sunlight than we do here. (It rained near enough every day in June where I live and July is not doing much better so far). "A Mediterranean diet incorporates the traditional healthy living habits of people from countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, including France, Greece, Italy and Spain. The Mediterranean diet varies by country and region, so it has a range of definitions. But in general, it's high in vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, beans, cereals, grains, fish, and unsaturated fats such as olive oil. It usually includes a low intake of meat and dairy foods. The Mediterranean diet has been linked with good health, including a healthier heart." https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/what-is-a-mediterranean-diet/ 28 minutes ago, 27X said: genetic trait expression density and propensity So this is another subject on which you are an expert? Could you provide any links to back up your claims about the Mediterranean peoples or are we all expected to just boew before your knowledge? 30 minutes ago, 27X said: pedaled on youtube isn't even KIND of what the people in Morocco/Gibraltar/Spain have available to them Did I mention Youtube? What diet do these people have available? 33 minutes ago, 27X said: And as a matter of fact the governments of Korea, Japan, and New Zealand have recommended it, particularly to people of african and mediterranean descent. "A review of research by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence suggests there is no evidence to support taking vitamin D supplements to specifically prevent or treat COVID-19. But experts do think that it may have some broader health benefits during the pandemic. According to a report in BMJ Nutrition, Prevention and Health, "As a key micronutrient, vitamin D should be given particular focus - not as a 'magic bullet' to beat COVID-19, as the scientific evidence base is severely lacking at this time - but rather as part of a healthy lifestyle strategy to ensure that populations are nutritionally in the best possible place." Some researchers have suggested that vitamin D deficiency might be linked with poorer outcomes if someone catches coronavirus. But other underlying risk factors, such as heart disease, are common in these patients too, making it hard to draw conclusions. Prof Jon Rhodes, Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Liverpool, says vitamin D has anti-inflammatory effects, and there is some research that suggests it may dampen down the body's immune response to viruses. This could be relevant in very ill coronavirus patients where severe lung damage can result from an inflammatory "cytokine storm" in response to the virus, he says, although much more research is needed to explore this." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52371688 From what I can see, the connection between Vitamin D, Covid-19 and non-white people is that the non-whites are more likely to suffer from a Vitamin D deficiency because of lockdown (lack of direct sunlight) therefore they need to boost their intake of the vitamin so they are in better shape to combat the virus if they get it. As an aside, most of the hits that came up for Covid-19 and Vitamin D were from newspapers around the world. https://www.bmj.com/content/369/bmj.m1548/rr-6
ItsPiggle Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 I think the sooner we realise and accept that we know nothing credible about the global situation and/or c19 the better off we will be. Misinformation and ignorance kills. Everyone has their own 2 cents. News outlets print anything because, well, views = money. Who cares about it being factually correct... right. Countries can't manage and record the c19 statistics correctly and most hide harsh facts *insert economic conspiracy* When it takes the WHO 4 months after countries have gone into multiple lockdowns to finally announce that they "think" c19 can be airborne and "maybe" wearing masks might help -> this says everything about how inept the people in leadership positions are. Any news outlet or article regarding this global pandemic should be taken which a massive side of caution. Incubation periods range from days to weeks, with multiple external factors that can't be isolated such age or health, or pre-existing health conditions or types of immune systems On topic: We have a police station 2 blocks down from where i stay(less than 2 minutes walking distance), It was closed down two month's ago due to an outbreak of Covid. The staff were not quarantined, but sent to other offices in the surrounding areas to work out of, until the BUILDING was cleared. Personally never knew buildings could get infected by hey, learn something new everyday *sarcasm*. Not a single person in the surrounding area was concerned at all and continued to exist day to day as if everything was still "normal". Then what do we as humans do? we lick windows or cough in others faces. No point arguing who knows more about our situation, because we all know nothing except what has directly impacted us.

Get it through your head that NO ONE KNOWS SHIT ABOUT COVID right now. It will take months, hell maybe years, before all the data is crunched and the FACTS are known. All we have right now are theories. Theories are NOT FACTS. That you don't know how to distinguish between the two is not surprising given the nonsense you have been spouting. It says, and I quote: "the vast majority who contract COVID-19 will make a full recovery." Oh and that link also pulls from this article (see below link) of a study of two people. Two. Hell the article even states that since the study only had two people and was for a very short term, much larger and longer term studies are needed. IE, for the laymen, they fucking don't know shit. Tron91 Posted July 11, 2020 Author Posted July 11, 2020 @gregathit A doctor in a medical website just making an assumption is your full proof concept? Where is his research data to support his claims? Do you know what is tissue scarring? What did I originally say in my statement? "It never goes back to the default factory state", did you understand plain English? You didn't even want to read or hear what others gotta say. The second PDF I uploaded shows what comes out in CT scans of Covid patients. And by the way who are you to correct me without facts?

But as true as it is, I prefer to err on the side of caution for precisely that reason. At 55 years old (today actually ?), I feel I'm better off safe than sorry. Because many times *theories* bear out into *facts*. Though my wife and I are relatively safe here in the mountains of Upstate New York, my daughter and granddaughter are still in the Orlando area of Florida. We're currently discussing the possibility of my granddaughter coming to New York for school. Given that so little is factually known about this virus, we just don't feel it's safe for her to attend school in Florida. Our daughter (a college grad) is fully capable of home-schooling her, but it would mean giving up her job, and I'm simply not in a position right now to support them from a distance, AND help out with the families here while my sons are deployed. Having our granddaughter stay with us for school simply makes the most sense. But ultimately, the choice is hers. Trykz

I am sorry about the tough choice you have before you and those of your family. Unfortunately all the misinformation, politics and hysteria has prevented the facts from coming out so that folks can make informed decisions. To me, that is sad. There needs to be a reckoning for this, so that if anything similar happens in the future, the nonsense that has happened, doesn't happen again. I would rather have the facts, even if they are horrific, so that I can make an informed decision.
