DoctaSax Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 OK, every once in a while I gotta come into this thread and tell people to chill the fuck out.(That's usually when the general praise for our moderating abilities compared to other places drops a little )Here's what's wrong at the moment:- the beginnings of our own brand of McCarthyism - Nexus moderators hiding under the couch etc. People don't need to prove their allegiance, and there can be no inquisition at the slightest trace of dissent. I understand some of you are disappointed and hurt over getting kicked outta there, but that doesn't make your opinion the only valid/acceptable one, let alone that it can be imposed by ganging up on others. (In the interest of balance, I'll tell the others to remember it really is a sensitive issue to some, so be considerate of that.)- some of the insults aimed at nexus staff tread a little too much on ground we thought we'd cordoned off (politics, 'gay' slurs).These threads are around because they're inevitable - if we closed them, other ones would pop up, and at least this way this nexus-related stuff is all in the same place. Yeah, some of what that goes on over there makes you roll your eyes, but hey, it's their place to make a mess of. We got ours, and it's a positive thing, one that stands on its own rather than being the anti-Nexus. Don't lose track of that. Or of the modding, downloading & playing stuff that tickles you, which is what we are about.
Guest Mogie56 Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Plain and simple, no one has there arm twisted, gun to there head to read this thread or any other thread on this site nor are they required to like the theme of the threads. problems only arise when someone does read this or other threads, doesn't like it and wants to censor it by telling others to stop. the ego takes over and drama begins. Then the voice of reason has to step in to calm the tides. But at least "We" have a few level headed voices of reason and not over the top ban mongers looking to destroy from within. But we also cannot censor there right to speak there minds on these subjects lest we become what we do not like most. "my two pennies"

But to sort of get back on topic here, I was thinking. If Nexus was a Troll we'd all be guilty of feeding it <--deep huh?

(Something that Kendo 2 froths at the mouth about in a way, but I'll be specific about where it annoys me.) You got a site hosting mods for games that mention (yes they do) rape and extreme violence. Yet, a mod for one of those very games is subject to subjective and vague ever changing rules about whether or not you're banned. After I saw the Alicia Pain Slut mod get banned almost immediately I knew I had to take my mods elsewhere or forever wonder "Did I cross the undefined does this offend Dark0ne line?" Another thing is the when we signed up, many of us didn't sign up for the OMG we're all Puritan nonsense. We joined before that. Yet, we have mods there before that started, that we feel the need to take care of. Last but not least, I want to thank Dark0ne for getting me to download adblock. I never used it before I saw his 'I have 0 bedside manner fuck everyone rant about it.' However, I must say it's a nice thing to have installed. Cheers world and remember, "Don't sweat the small things, and they're all small things." Edit: Oh one more thing that cracks me up about DarkCantUseTheOkey is his tendency to blame trolling on dumb Americans. Ok, fine I was born there and I'm ashamed about it in many ways, but I'm amused that he shares one of the major faults I see in those born in the U.S. The 'Omg sex is the end of the world, you guys are all pervs and ruining gaming.' trait.

I'm no Dark0ne fan (or hater, he means nothing to me), but he has to deal with people whining about penis mods. Ask the original "Schlongs of Skyrim" mod authors. It was ridiculous what I've seen in the Nexus thread. The sex hostility starts from that level. Some people seem to be afraid of becoming gay from looking at male genitals. Didn't know though that Mr. Scott sees BDSM as offensive. But then, he has his own Statue of Bigotry called the Nexus. No offense intended, by the way. The US americans I've had contact with are normal people. Puritan idiots, nationalistic dumbfucks and religious zealots are creeping out of their holes over here in Europe, too. When personal sense of security vanishes, people cling to anything that they feel preserves "good ol' values". I've put the Nexus where it belongs in my personal hierarchy of values: a site to leech mods from. That's it. Skyrim takes place in a sort-of-medieval world in times of civil war. If any of those arseholes with their ugly morality they force upon others but yet scream for realism really would like to see a realistic Skyrim, the vanilla game would have: - raped children, women and men (yes, folks: war brings the "best" in people to surface) - corpses of all ages and sexes all over the place instead of a picturesque landscape - burning villages - grieving widows wherever you set foot - mass graves - cities where people constantly are hiding and fighting - genocide sceneries (also euphemistically called "ethnic cleansing") - poverty, plagues, plunderings and starvation The list goes on. War is ugly. Skyrim compared to that is a dollhouse. Which makes war seem some kind of adventure in which YOU can be a hero or even THE hero. But hey, at least we have penis mods to complain about. Aren't we real decent people?
