Banned from Nexus

I have been using the chat on NexusMods for a few days occasionally and most of the mods seem to be alright. It almost seems that the strict rules themselves are what causes the dissonance and not necessarily the enforcer, especially since literally nobody ever reads the terms of service on any site ever.

Two exceptions are Dante, who is reasonably approachable but bans on things that could be misunderstandings, and Micalov, who seems to treat rule-breaking independently of intention.

The forums themselves are a different animal, but I won't get into that.

I get along really well with Micalov and Millenia.  Mill spends most of his time showing off the things he makes, laser turrets and the like. Mica is just funny when he's blasting the foolish pirates.

Lots of people talk about what a jerk Dante is, but again, he's been nothing but cool with me. As long as people don't come at the chat room like demanding fools, it can be a reasonably helpful place.

I make it a point to keep out of the politics of forums/chatrooms these days. So the whole..."He's friends with this guy so he can get away with murder" drama has nothing to do with my user experience.

If I have a problem I need help fixing, I try to find that help by chumming up with regulars. If someone else is having a problem I've had experience with, I help out. That's it, nothing more, nothing less.

It wouldn't surprise me if Dark0ne is actually trying to clean up the reputation Nexus has now.  The most popular mod reviewer on YouTube comments that he is afraid to say anything because he doesn't want to get banned.  Then there is what is said here and on other forums, etc.  Basically the attitude I see a lot of places is 'Yeah, Nexus and Dark0ne...fuck him.  You're a moderator there?  Well fuck you too.'

Anyone who is banned there can have an untraceable new account in the same amount of time it takes the Nexus pages to load.  I don't think anyone is really impressed with how cool the Nexus forum nerds think they are, and I feel there is a wave of people who are no longer intimidated by a pack of dorks with yellow text.  Someone let them hold a rope and now they think they're cowboys.

A new crop of moderators might have some impact, but that won't last.  Dark0ne owns the joint and everything that rolls down hill comes from him.  When Dante first started he was actuall an alright kind of dude.  Look at him now.  Thandal was always a puss, but he was a quiet one.  What is he now?  A puss with a big mouth.  Myrmaad and Linspuppy?  Well..give two old liberal broads the ability to never be wrong and guess what...they're NEVER wrong...even when they are.  These attitudes are what dragged Nexus to where it is now.  Only Dark0ne can change that and he's not going to do it.  He's still a simpering 15 year old at heart.

If they ban you that way, they breaking there own rule. If someone criticizes nexus on another site they have not really break any rules yet. Sine the rules only apply on nexus they cannot apply the rule if it came from another site.

They do it all of the time.  Buried in the steaming pile of Nexus forum posts there is a brief bit between Dark0ne,Bben and Budda and they are GLOATING about it.  I think LHammonds was in on that conversation too.  There was a general uproar and they clammed up.  When Skyrim was finally mod ready, Dante made it a habit to go to SteamWorkshop and ban people at Nexus for what was said there.  Dark0ne did the same on the Official Beth Forums when Oblivion was popular.  If you said something negative about the staff or Nexus and you had the same user name, they'd BAN YOU.

That is just plain stupid. They are breaking there own rule. So they should ban themselfs now. I really miss TESource when it comes to this at least it was not bad. I only wished the other guy who was with TesSource would have continued with it's own modding site like darkone did That would have been devastating for him.

fairly new here, i don't mod myself but I'm always seeking the next cool player model. i also use the nexus and steam community for finding mods.... i have to say that comic... i fail to see whats so "ban worthy" about it. especially when you leave a WARNING for people. the community seems pretty cool here. i may like it here. :D

i hope those moderators of the nexus don't find me here. did they really gloat about it? that seems...wrong.... i mean, what a world we live in, we ban people for no reason then proceed to t-bag their dead accounts...

Just use a different username here than what you use on the Nexus. Besides, that's just safe web use practices anyway.

This IS a much better community than that of the Nexus. Ever try to ask for help over there? *crickets chirping* Here you'll have an answer in no time. The people are more mature and more helpful here for sure.

Since this was banned thread. you guys better pray they never decide to ban the use of proxies. :P I bet they will have to ban allot more users then. :D

Well if they did that their community would then dry up to a few mod authors owner and the moderators and who knows some of them might even use a proxy so it might get even smaller.

The most irritating thing about NexusMods and the chat is not the moderators themselves, as I have noticed, but the massive bunch of mini-moderator players that are anal about the rules and complain about every little infraction just to feel important, even though they have no power whatsoever and only get in the way of the moderators.

That irritates me more than anything, especially when someone starts bitching after the moderators spoke.

Example:

ShaggyMonster
On Lovers Lab ....

OwlBeWatchingYou
lovers lab?

ShaggyMonster
google it

Millenia
we don't talk about that site here

ShaggyMonster
and make sure you have addblock etc installed if using FireFox

Millenia
I'd advise you against doing so

Verbal Earthworm
double act

gawd

ShaggyMonster
ok - LL

NexusRanger

I  have to agree that getting help here is way easier than nexus, but I still use both.

better hope your username is different.

I use the same username on both sites. I'm not worried about getting banned for being active on LoversLab. If they stoop down to that level, I'll just change IP's and make another account.

I don't think they'd start banning people who come here willy nilly simply because they do come here to riff on them.

Otherwise there'd be a lot more banning going on.

Then again, they never cease to amaze.

Because I got banned a long time ago my ex just got banned. It's a little funny but still, he was accused of being me. and that is an insult. Honestly people need to stop patronizing that site. it is getting rediculous. Christ even my fake account has nothing to do with him. And no one there will ever figure it out. Because I stay out of the chat's and keep my nose clean. We still talk and he bitched me out for it. XD he has an account on here but never uses it. I told him he needs to start. Because we are going to collaborate on a few things. He's good with the artsy fartsy stuff and I'm a technical guru. I pitch the Idea and he runs with it. I may have to get some of his concept art up here. though.... the blog is where I'd post it. and I'm not quite sure what is allowed in the blog because it says no adult material. But I thought this site allowed adult material and I'd hate to be banned from here as well or get him banned.

i already stopped criticize in (constructively) anything on the nexus sites long ago, feels just suicidal... ;)

by the way, is it normal that my best sreenshots on the skyrim nexus got deleted without any information? :D

It is completely normal. They don't have to explain anything because moderators on the nexus are gods. Notice how I use lower case.

It is rediculous.

Oh, we all "use" the Nexus. With over 30000 Skyrim mods you almost have to. But we don't all pretend that there's actually a "community" there or try to be a part of it. The banhammer swings all too easily.

ditto.

Regardless how much we may dislike Nexus we have accounts just to milk the mods. That's the only thing that keeps Nexus alive. Is the amount of mods it holds, but more and more good mods are coming down on Nexus. Seeing this from Fallout to TES. The one's that suffer are the mods still up there that depend on a mod that no longer is hosted on Nexus. Then you start to see a wall of ranting on the mod comment section. Just look at the FNV shojo race. Even after multiple links to the required mods so many people bitching where to find it. That's Nexus.

Yup. Mods vanish all the time from Nexus, i coulden't begin to count the number of times i've tried to follow a link to a mod dependancy and it comes up dead. It's not just users and creators that get the banhammer, content does as well all to frequently (and don't think it's just naughty mods either, because it isen't, it's just as often dry and dull utilitarian stuff that nobody could ever object to).

All I see on the nexus is follower mods and retextures nowadays .-.

I have a question since I'm a total noob to the CK and the most editing I've done to an .esp is to clean it with TES5Edit..

How hard is it to make a follower mod or a retexture, or a new armor mod using resources[meshes and textures] already in the game? :/
