Voice Packs Now Available (SE & LE) - a list for your convenience

Recommended Posts

I did not link directly to download files on non-LL sites, such as Mega, because those links can be outdated as voice packs are improved and updated. Also, valuable notes or instructions about the pack will be missed.
As stated, loose files can be used as is by both LE and SE. You should be able to install them with your mod manager.
***BSA versions take less time to load in game, so you might prefer them to loose files. We're talking minutes in SE, not seconds, especially if you have more than one voice pack in loose files.

8/9/22 - To create a BSA from loose files, you can use Cathedral Assets Optimizer (it's what I use).
If only one
BSA version is available, you can try extracting them from the bsa and using the loose files. Or you can extract the loose files and create a new .bsa for the Skyrim you are using. Doublecheeseburger and Executaball's topics contain a lot of useful information.

Not sure how to convert SE BSA voice packs for use in LE? Try this as described in Judge007's post.

  1.  extract archive to working directory
  2.  delete plugins as they are unusable in LE
  3.  extract contents of BSA with BAE https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/974
  4.  delete bsa
  5.  zip up working folder and install archive as per normal mod installation

Some voice packs are too large for a single archive, so they've been split into multiple part archives. If you're not sure how to combine them into one archive suitable for installation, follow this link to a detailed description.
Any questions about a particular voice pack should be addressed in that forum, because I am not an expert in any way shape or form.
KEEP
FUZ RO D-OH! Why?

  • Not all voice types are created equal, as far as converting mod dialog to voiced mod dialog. The quality can vary between voice types in the same mod.
  • Not all mods assign voice types to all npc's. No voice type, no conversion, no voice.
  • If/when a mod author updates their dialog, the new dialog will not be voiced until/unless a new voice pack is created.

Loose files load after .bsa files.

Below is an addendum of voice related mods/files that are not straight up voice packs. By that I mean that I consider voice packs to be direct voiced applications of the npc's in various mods. They do not change voice types, emphasis, etc. They are voiced translations. However, if you are interested in a voiced Skyrim (who isn't?) then you might be interested in some of these alternatives or variations.

Loose files, as I understand it, will load after .bsa files.

Since you started it . . .

You might wish to mention that Skyrim SE prefers bsa files, and it's load time will drastically increase the more loose files you have in your active mods.

With 60+ voice packs listed, any three or four larger voice packs installed "loose files" will add from 1 to 3 minutes to load time, depending on computer system.

I won't speak for LE/Oldrim because I don't have it, and can't test.

Just stress the using BSA files for SE and we'll all have happier modders.

Nice thread, btw.

@Seeker999 seeing how you're thread is turning into the clearing house for for voice packs . . .

Perhaps you could add instructions for the LE users to use the SE packs

1. extract archive to working directory

2. delete plugins as they are unusable in LE

3. extract contents of BSA with BAE https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/974

4. delete bsa

5. zip up working folder and install archive as per normal mod installation

I didn't mention placing the loose files in an LE-friendly bsa, because I've had several reports that the loose files don't slow load times like they do in SE

Hm.. I think that might be more to do with NMM/Vortex/MO2/MO1 difference than anything. I'm not aware of Skyrim itself actually delaying launch times due to having lots of loose files. It's more the delay in the VFS I believe.

Could well be, I just go with the limited feed-back I get. You know, most don't provide feed-back, because they're to busy playing the game!

One user reported they unpacked all their BSAs and noticed no slowdown in LE, that may have Mod Organizer.

Mostly I've been giving advice on how to extract the loose files for LE users.

I'd like to ask users of NMM, Vortex, Mod Organizer, Mod Organizer 2 for Skyrim LE & SE to report in whether they find loose files are slower to load than BSAs

I can say for SE with MO2 bsas are loading MUCH faster than loose files

Excuse me if  I'm speaking out of term or am replying something that was not requested - but the only way to answer this question is to unpack a couple of large bsa and then benchmark with an stopwatch the loading time from a) desktop to start screen, b) start screen to game play - when do the voicepacks get loaded? Or is there a way to benchmark gameplay itself?

Traditionally, I found loose files to be worse since FO3 days - and I was shuddering when I saw voicepacks unpack gazillions of files. But my fragemented hdd might contribute to that, so I cannot really pin this on the mod organizer alone. I'd be very surprised if a lot of small files wouldn't result in a performance hit in the vfs though. That mod organizer loading itself (when it scans the vfs after running Bodylide, or updating mods) is certainly affected by that.

MO2 on LE:

After installing now several voice packs I noticed a delay in the game starting (MO2). Its significiant, but for me its not an issue (yet?) since my game normaly starts in seconds. I will load even more voice packs unpacked (primarily because I do not have any room for more ESP).

I did not stopwatch this, but normally the game starts in 5-10 secs to menu, now its maybe 30-40 secs (OnBoard SSD and the game is loaded with 17k anims and 255 ESP)

I will continue to drop voice files (Submissive Lola and SL Survival are up next, then Radiant Prostitution) so I expect the game start to slow down even more.

Since my game rarely ever CTDs anymore (thx to this guide https://www.loverslab.com/blogs/entry/10715-2020-skyrim-le-stability-guide/) I do not bother.

Since its MO2 I have special testing profiles that are low weight anyway, so my main game can load longer, no problem.

But I am still interested in a possible solution that allows merging the ESPs together (preferably into the main mod), so it does not kill my LE 255 ESP limit.

I do not have any knowlegde on that, because unpacking all BSAs was my standard for years now and I never bothered with them.

In SE there is a limit of 255 esp's that aren't eslified, & theoretically 4096 eslified plugins.

In LE the limit is 255 esp's total. So I see your concern.

In Mod Organizer (not MO2) there is a feature that MO will manage your BSAs for you without esps to load.

Is there any significant reason for you to use MO2 instead of MO?

Because MO is still available - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1334

I dont remember the exact reasons, but switching to MO2 was crucial at some point and there is no way back ever.

Dunno why this feature is no longer in MO2, tho.

I was hoping that the "next generation" voice packs would be smaller maybe, I think executeball wrote somewhere how he achieved that and maybe reduce the file sizes in the process.

But even having 1 additional ESP per mod is ALOT.

You said somewhere merging is not necessary, but what HAPPENS when I merge all the ESPs? zEdit also handles BSAs during merging, but I have no idea how honestly.

So I hoped it would be possible to merge the 4 ESP into the base ESP and still have the 3 BSA packs work... naturally my testing range is already behind any schedule and if anybody can give me some insight on this would be very cool indeed.
