@2cool4u_1 Woah! I can't say I knew where the story was headed as I was reading it. Very creative (this might be an understatement ?) and with a great attention to details! I also loved the displayed thought processes. ? A hilarious inclusion of Superman!

Hi guys! Hope every has been keeping well. Just been taking a bunch of in game pictures and I decided that I should make my first proper character post. He's nothing special, but I liked the pose!

 

Meet Lt Marcus Angelos! A rookie but highly talented young detective of that likes to think he is the sensible one out of the three Angelos children, but in reality struggles to keep it in his pants!

 

 

In this particular picture Marcus is trying his best to stay composed despite being incredibly angry. Not at the suspect, but at himself, because silly Marcus forgot to use a condom during his last liaison and is now battling a nasty infestation of crabs! 

 

When I have more time towards the end of the year I might start creating stories around my characters (I already have plenty of head canon!)

 

PS Everyone of my characters are inspired by an existing character from other series. Virtual cookies for anyone that guesses who! ?

The input image is on the left. The middle one is generated by the AI with the art slider cranked up - it has an oil painting quality to it. Oh man, that really is quite interesting! I had a go at it myself with varying results. Probably gonna have to play around with the sliders some, but it's very interesting. 

 

          

 

I believe Linnie became a bit too blurred out, though the other three ended up looking pretty good (Thalia might need some adjusting as she looks a bittoo drawn compared to the other two), especially Alexis, though it interpreted her earrings as hair in some way ?

 

Also seems like more pictures with more expressive faces yield better results. 

 

EDIT: Upping the "uncanny value" (negative "art" slider value) and turning down sharpness, probably did the trick for Thalia

@mrrakkonn Wow, Alexis looks beyond cute! ? Her picture still has a pencil drawing quality to it in my eyes, while Thalia's is very life-like (I think the sim's face was a little wider though?).

Yeah, I know. I was kind of amazed at how well that came out,  I clicked the "similar face" option that came up once, and there it was. 

 

I tried editing her a bit to tone down the pencil drawing look a bit, though the version above still probably looks best (it also kind of wants to put a moustache shade on her lol, so I had to balance that with the gender, age and facial hair sliders without totally throwing it off). I also redid Linnie and Tracy and think I got a better result for them. Linnie still hjard because of the hat and maybe some other stuff, had to do alot of fiddling with ethnicity to get something that worked and for Tracey I basically made her equal parts Asian and Latino/Hispanic which isn't quite correct "canon-wise" but looked better appearance wise I think. 

 

    

 

I think Thalia's face width more or less matches her normal sim version, at least that's what it looks like to me. The "similar face"-thing did generate an additional version without glasses where I think the eyeshape is probably closer to her normal sim look, though also makes her look a bit Indian maybe? In any case, though it can sort of handle them, it does seem to do better with faces without glasses, hats or earrings.

I think so too! I may have unintentionally sounded critical when mentioning the pencil drawing look - I actually really like that style (it also conveniently avoids the uncanny valley for me).

 

The ethnicity sliders seem usable when you want to tweak certain features or feature groups not explicitly among the slider options. I also found it mildly amusing the ethnicity sliders go into the negative values. You are right about the accessories not working ideally. They were probably less commonly present (and more varied) in the training image set. I also have a feeling the results are better with the directly frontal images.

Taking a step back and trying out some more of it, yeah it definitely looks better to go a bit more into the "art" than full on uncanny valley, even though getting something that looks "real" (until you come back for another look later on lol) can be fun, the style taht looks more like a drawing actually looks much better. And front shots definitely yield the best results (though I also find that clicking one or two "similar faces" before you begin to nudge it, also the works the best).

Well since everyone's at it, I might as well chip in.

 

I threw this at it. It didn't like the head tilt, haha.

 

 

I messed around with the sliders and got these realistic takes on the top and more artistic ones at the bottom from random similar's. It's a ton of fun, I could sit there and see what it spits out for hours and give myself some serious eye strain.

How did you manage to preserve the piercing? They always just seemed to disappear quickly to me.

@mrrakkonn  Yeah, same happened to me. I had to copy paste the piercing and beauty mark from the original in photoshop, the rest is all Artbreeder alone using crossbreed.

Oh, yeah! That's a decent enough way to do it. Had a go at doing it (should probably have applied some filters, but it's probably fine). I'm addicted to this thing lol, though I've started leaning more towards the drawing look, rather than getting them to look "realistic".

Oh man, I spent far too long time today putting together a bunch of these (actually bought the thing, even beyond just messing around, I think it could be a useful tool to make sim faces in some way), As I said I've started leaning more towards the drawing look, though getting it to look similar in all cases isn't always that easy. 

 

Here's all the ones I've made that I am now more or less happy with.

I made a few edits using my main cast as well as a couple of my favorites. I tried to make mine look more like digital oil paintings than real people, because there is a very fine line between realism and nightmare fuel.
