That's simply not true, or at least it's a gross exaggeration. 1.6.xxx was inflicted upon unaware (for those who somehow missed the dozens of before-the-fact warnings on various gaming sites including this one) players less than a year ago- so mods current then can hardly be called "ancient."

So far, with 423 active mods, I have had no trouble finding 1.5.97-compatible versions of any mod I want to use, and many of them have updated their 1.5.97-compatible versions alongside their 1.6.xxx-compatible versions. With only a couple of exceptions that I'm aware of, all of my 1.5.97-compatible mods are still supported today to the same extent they were supported on 10 November, 2021- the day before 1.6.xxx dropped. Plus, there is at least one Native Code mod author ( @meh321 of .Net Script Framework and Immersive First Person View fame) who threw in the towel and declined to update their mods for 1.6.xxx game versions, so those mods are available only for 1.5.97.

It seems to me that the whole 1.6.xxx vs. 1.5.97 issue depends on where one is in their modding journey- newcomers and returning (hiatus-ending) players should probably go with 1.6.353 because they have nothing to lose, but those of us with many mods assembled over the past few years (or no luck getting a modded 1.6.xxx game to run right) might be happier with 1.5.97 for another year or two.

It may be overexaggerated now, but it's objective reality in a not-so-long time. If I'm making a mod that relies on SKSE, why would I want to bother with supporting 1.5.97 now, when I could just make my mod for 1.6.353 or (even better), 1.6.640? This will just keep on until the last skyrim mod is made, and it will almost certainly not support 1.5.97.

If you load order works for 1.5.97, don't update. If you're planning to start modding, don't bother downgrading to 1.5.97, as you are only going to face less support as time goes on, in both bug fixes and new mods as they come out (provided they rely on SKSE to load a .dll). Arguably you should just update to 1.6.640 and give it a few more weeks, and skip 1.6.353.

.NSF is an interesting exception, as it's arguably an important mod the author has abandoned, but the harsh reality is, a not insignificant number of mods that explicitly depend on .NSF on Nexus are made by meh themselves, and list has only shrunk, as alternatives have emerged for various aspects. For instance, most people are familiar with NSF's crash logger. Other options exist for AE, so it is not missed. I personally find Improved Camera to be miles better than IFPV, as IFPV always gave me one problem or another. Thus, NSF and most of meh's mods being 1.5.97 only does not matter.

I thank both of you.

I have Defeat but am yet to enable it in the MCM. The reason is woeful, as my ultra high level Futa char while rampantly chasing women, is yet to be "bedded" by a male and having had Batlef*ck, defeat and Naked Defeat in previous runs, I know how often gang bangs result on low level chars. I simply forgot to enable it.

But, in the MCM, every time I click on Sex Lab tools, everything pauses as if something was supposed to happen. but nothing happens even if I wait. I guess I must re-install it.

Strange how every new game run creates new problems as I slightly change things. I guess that I will never learn as there is always that one new mod or that as yet untouched older one or the one that I have installed but never use and so , remove.?

I got the Skyrim SE now i get updated from Bethesda to the AE Edition, so which Animations i can take for the Sexlab?

Normal Skyrim Animations? Will that not conflict in my Vortex with the Skyrim SE/AE Edition?

Racemenu is still out of date, but I don't think it's a sexlab requirement.  I'm assuming that once sexlab is updated, it will run fine.

Racemeu is a requirement of XPMSSE so Racemenu is a requirement.  Racemenu still hasn't been updated on Nexus.

The Racemenu author has a patreon where you can probably get the updated Racemenu.  Probably would be better if she/he charged for RM.

Just checked, indeed his patreon has an updated racemenu for 1.6.640.

You can always join the mod author's patreon.  You probably can get an updated version there.  That's how this mod author works.  I remember this author from Fallout 4 -- also the author of FO4 Looksmenu.

Go play another game, Destiny, Halo, RDR2, help anything else.  Complain to author of XPMSSE which is dependent on RM.  Do something else.  Don't be a hostage to skyrim.

It's pretty ridiculous really--how all this is dependent on one mod

The updated version is downloadable for free.....

No need to join or pay anything unless you really want to.

And it's NOT the mods creators fault the mods were broken.

BTW i'm NOT an hostage to skyrim, i have more than one hundred game licences.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I said (above). :classic_biggrin:

To YOU. It doesn't matter TO YOU because (duh!) you don't use meh's mods. Believe it or not, there are others who play SSE (and Oldrim still) :classic_ohmy: and they don't all share your preferences or personal mod choices.

Personally, I find IFPV superior to Enhanced (Oldrim) / Improved (SSE) Camera- what I said in my 7-year-old comparison is still true for me. So being forced to switch to an inferior camera mod by random (and buggy, in the case of the next-to-last one) game updates that offer no benefit that I am interested in (because I don't fish and Frostfall is better than Survival IMHO if I want to toughen up my game) matters to me. A lot.

v1.65 Released

Thanks to @OsmelMC for pretty much everything in the update, all I did was the update compatibility.

Changelog:

  • SKSE 2.2.2 compatibility.

  • Fix issues with Futa actors and enhance the Futa compatibility. Between other things prevent equip strapons on futa actors.

  • Allow edit some of the actor stats while SexLab is in Debug Mode. Is very basic and don't allow 0 values for tech reasons but is probably better this way.

  • Fix the problem with the "TimeSpent" stats becoming negative after sex.

  • Fix the problem with the Creature Animations don't bein automatically registered after import the configuration with the creatures allowed.

  • Fix some errors on the SexLab MCM and add new enhancements.

I guess disabling automatic updates to stay on a stable version is forbidden knowledge at this point.

First, back up your entire Skyrim Special Edition folder to a safe place, e.g. an external drive, another drive in your PC, whatever. This can then be restored any time Steam manages to sneak an update in on you.

To stop Steam from updating your game, open Steam to the Library view, then:

  1. Right click the "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition" shortcut, then Properties > Updates, and select "Only update this game when I launch it"**
  2. Click Steam > Settings > Downloads and under Download Restriction set a one-hour time window when your computer is normally powered off*
  3. Navigate to your Steam\Steamapps folder and click the file named "appmanifest_489830.acf, then rename it to something different. I chose "appmanifest_489830.acf.hidden.2021116". This essentially tells Steam that the game is not installed, yet you can play it just fine
  4. If you don't play any Steam games that require the Steam Overlay, click Steam > Go Offline*

** Once you have done this, you must always start your game via skse64_loader.exe- neither Steam nor the game "sees" this as a game launch. This is no biggie since you have to start your game that way all the time anyway to get SKSE64 to work. But once you use this feature to block updates, it becomes much more important.

* These actions affect all Steam games- if there are any that you want to update in the future, just take Steam back online and remove the time restriction for as long as you need it.

Note that any ONE of these initiatives will stop Steam from updating SSE. The others are your backups for when you screw up. Like I did when I launched the game via the vanilla launcher just to regenerate my ini files. :classic_sad:

A lot.

My main point with NSF was to address that, unless you built your load order around meh's mods, NSF not being updated to 1.6+ (or likely updated ever), does not matter. Any mod that used it have: a) been made by meh themselves, and likely will never be updated, b) haven't been updated in years anyways (or were explicitly fixes for NSF), or c) been updated to not rely on NSF. Few exceptions exist that I can find of actively updated mods that rely on NSF that haven't switched from it with their 1.6.x release or have had the mod author show no interest in doing so.

There may be some mods that do not have good non-NSF versions, but that's likely more due to lack of interest more than anything, or could be patched in via tools like Sythesis, but hasn't because no one cares to.

You like your first person view, I like mine. Bonus, Improved Camera isn't Enhanced Camera, but is instead, "an immersive first person camera modifictation inspired from Enhanced Camera" - your 7 year old post makes no mention of IC, so saying EC and IC are the same (functionality wise) is a bit of a misleading comparison.

Last time I checked the Reddit thread where Improved Camera is distributed (it wasn't on the Nexus due to the lack of permission to clone/convert Enhanced Camera), it plainly said it was basically a clone of Enhanced Camera. Admittedly, that was several years ago (time flies when you're having fun) and so the mod may well have diverged from an Enhanced Camera clone in that time.

Still, the major way in which Enhanced Camera differed from IFPV remains in Improved Camera AFAIK- it uses the game's First Person views where IFPV uses 3rd person views with the camera in front of the player's eyes for a more accurate rendering of what the PC would be seeing under all circumstances. This means that my major issue with Enhanced Camera would still be an issue with Improved Camera- specifically, the view looking back toward my knees as I enjoy a nice doggie-style screwing: IFPV correctly shows it "upside down" because in that position, my head is in fact upside down, while EC and presumably IC still show a black neck hole where my head should be and my viewpoint skewed a couple of feet away from my neck.

Try it yourself (if you have a female PC) and see if I'm right. Either way, you're correct that both mods do similar things and it's great that we have the luxury of 2 non-JoP 1P Camera mods to choose from.

Well you're not wrong about the compatibility part, but the last version of skyrim isn't 1.6.629, but 1.6.640, btw sexlab compatibility isn't really the priority right now, since almost everything else isn't compatible yet, including sexlab's integrated dependance, papyrusutil.

so requirements:
skse: ok

adress library: ok

papyrusutil: actually NOT ok (and it's actually another mod, even if it's integrated, meaning that sexlab's creator has to wait for the release of the new papyrusutil).

Well your are correct about the the version but to my defense, Steam failed to update my game to the 1.6.640 until after I wrote this. As for the rest, I hit them all up trying to vent my frustration towards Bethesda. Thanks though for the constructive criticism instead of the usual Troll Hits...Savagejeeper

Ditto on a 1.6.353/1.64c archive. Aers (The author or SSE Engine Fixes) Has mentioned that he's retired from Skyrim. So there is no promise of an update anytime soon. So there is no reason to use 1.6.640 because Engine Fixes is a must imo.

Nevermind I'm dumb. I just got it from the github.

@Ashal @OsmelMC Today's the release of GOG Skyrim the Address Library has been updated to add compatibility, however it is a new version number (8). I was wondering whether please the SexLab DLL and/or PapyrusUtil can please be updated and/or compiled against it?

Anyway, thank you very much for your most recent update!

GOG version is likely going to be a clusterfuck for a bit, unless mods for .640 can be compiled with support for .659.

Also, it won't matter until fores or whoever updates FNIS to remove the DRM check. Objectively, it does not serve a function (at least, not anymore), given that the GOG version exists, and there is no practical way to verify ownership.

Alternatively, Nemesis becomes the defacto standard.
