Kashked Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Random rambling... It just hit me how big this community has gotten. Just looked at the active users down at the bottom of the page and there were more than 1700 people on right now. Holy shit this has grown. I was by no means here at the very start, just checked and the earliest accounts are well over half a year older than mine. Hell, I remember that at the start some people thought sex-mods for Skyrim was impossible due to some technobabble that went over my head, but here we are. People said Fallout 4 would never get a sex-mod and here we are. Used to be just Lovers and a few WIP mods for Fallout NV, and now we have entire forums dedicated to a bunch of games. I don't actually have a point with this, just a random reflection from an infrequent user. I'll regularly see this site being referenced on places like reddit, so I guess we're mainstream now. Anyhow, just a shoutout to mods and the rest of the people who make this site possible. You're awesome.
vinfamy Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I've seen 2500+ users around Saturday evenings UK Time
Kaz Aanh Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 The bigger the community gets, more strict rules are starting to appear. And less freedom happens. Then it tries to cater to the "average joe" type of fanbase . Sometimes big isn't good.
jfraser Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 by one measure, last i checked, LL was the 4100st most popular website on the internet. that's pretty damn popular. I don't know about you guys, but I haven't noticed any lessening of "freedom". LL feels to me that way it always has.

What measure would that be btw? Number of visitors, bandwith use, or something else?
Kriegera Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I think it's partially due to the Nexus being utter cocks and forcing modders to find alternate communities. Hell we've had some prominent non adult modders come here in order to not have their creativity stifled or censored.

Kaz Aanh Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 The bigger the community gets, more strict rules are starting to appear. And less freedom happens. the last rule update was 3 years ago. Officialy, I have seen plenty of changes. Especially in the behaviour.
Rayblue Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Frankly, this is game modding's best red light district. All roads go to here, and thousands and thousands served daily.
Kimy Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 The bigger the community gets, more strict rules are starting to appear. And less freedom happens. the last rule update was 3 years ago. Officialy, I have seen plenty of changes. Especially in the behaviour. Enforcing the rules isn't a bad thing. And that's all they have been doing. The only thing they have been cracking down more is people posting stuff in places where it doesn't belong (*cough* mod requests). Which is good, because it makes the forums more readable for everyone.

Deso561PL Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Freedom? You are not free, unless you are going live in Alaska, and i am serious.
MadMansGun Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Freedom? You are not free, unless you are going live in Alaska, and i am serious. Alaska = The Truman Show X 10, everyone has a camera crew following them.
Veladarius Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Basically it boils down to: - Don't act like an entitled prick to others - Don't steal someone else's work - Don't post banned content Beyond that I think one of the reasons the site is popular is that we are willing to help each other whether it is someone new who has little to no experience with modding or someone who knows what they are doing but is having an issue with something rather technical that for whatever reason they can't get fixed.
Kakabishan Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 As long as it doesn't end up to the Nazi level moderation in Nexus, I'm happy lol.
myuhinny Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Everyone is pretty good here so I doubt that'll happen. Yes the only thing I have seen them cracking down on is the posting crap in the wrong area which use to be a everyday thing of constantly telling people you should of posted here or there or over here and it was getting tiring trying to weed through the crap threads to find the one you were looking for. But it's a lot better now that they have been cracking down on it and added a few more threads for people to post in.
Farmthat Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Alaskan here. We're pretty darn free, but nobody is outside the law. All the reality shows about Alaska are super, super corny and unrealistic. Also, many places have decent internet now. I'm debating upgrading to gigabit. I'm glad the community is growing, though it's sort of in a strange place. Skyrim is slowly aging out, but... it's still the platform of choice. (my platform of choice at least.) FO4 is fairly widely panned, and I'm not sure it will gain the modding momentum it needs to become self-sustaining. So that makes me wonder what game the community will really rally around next. As for rules, I absolutely support them. I haven't seen a large change in community attitude, but civility and organization is critical to helping LL grow gracefully. Luckily, there aren't many problems, and everyone's *existing* positive and helpful attitudes set a tone that's easy for newcomers to mimic.
27X Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Skyrim is dying gais Welp I have no idea what you're gonna do for sandbox fantasy stuff then cause the next TES is FIVE YEARS away minimum so unless someone else has a competing product with the same modding capability, there not much elsewhere to go in regards to the gametype and mod support.

I'll do my part to keep Skyrim modding going for 5 more years! You really think the next elderscrolls is 5 years away? They were able to sneak FO4 up on us pretty well.
27X Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Whilst they have expanded their crew by a third, they also have two AAA projects in the works, so while there is certainly work on TESVI being done, I wouldn't expect to hear about it for quite some time.

Not played F04 but it doesn't look that much further along than F03 or Fallout 3 New Vegas (last ones i played) and the last big skyrim thing was elder scrolls online which graphically i didn't find any better than vanilla skyrim so if they want to get peeps off modded skyrim onto a new one they will have to make something pretty special to top what modders have done with skyrim
arpaschad Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 With great numbers comes great responsibility... Or however that clichéd marvel quote goes... I mostly see it as a good thing...since Loverslab (the name itself ooozes "Love" XD) has always been the refuge for the downtrodden perverted outcasts of Nexus or other modding sites whose inclinations and creative talent are deemed too risqué for those aforementioned sites... Any concerns I might have for it "becoming mainstream" is quickly assuaged since not many people would admit to enjoy seeing virtual coitus in their videogames...even with the random arricles in mainstream gaming rags or the numbers shown below I feel LL and sex modding in general is still a niche market... So it's all good... Now back to more horse porn...
