Ever wondered what a floating penis looks like? Well, I have the answer!

LOL. I tried to get a better view of what I was doing so I made the male body invisible, with quite hilarious results. 

 

(Don't mind the animation, I only animated the sucking until now and not even have 5 seconds finished, it's the very beginning!)

I'm spamming my own topic, but ah well.

 

I've added a poll with a question if I should work on new animations or remaster some old ones (the next release are going to be new ones either way because I already worked on those)

 

Why I'm asking this: some of my earlier animations are... bad. There is no other word for it. Some I do like for nostalgic reasons (and lets be fair, even better animators than me have some questionable first animations) but others I really hate looking at. I have even blacklisted some of my own animations! 

 

Thing is, I've lost al my old blender files, so to remaster them I would have to start from scratch (so in a way, they will be new either way) and it will take time. So, should I spend my time on new animations, or making the old ones look better (as best as I can)?

I voted for new animation. However, if you share us your plans, I can change my opinion. Thanks for letting us be part of what your awesome work. :3

Well, I didn't have a plan specifically. I just thought some of my old animations are bad and I was wondering how much the rest of the community are bothered by them. Because it's strange, I don't really mind the older, less good animation from other creators, but I'm very critical towards my own creations. So I just wanted to check: maybe the lot of you don't even mind them, or are content with blacklisting them...

I also voted for new animations. But if you want to remaster your older ones I say go for it. I do like your older ones.

I'd also say 'new'. While we are always going to be our own worst critic unless someone is a total jerk, I myself appreciate all your efforts. The reason I mention new is you were adding animations which brought something new to the game. Both Clydie and Lucas have also been following that trend - creating interesting animations, some with humorous overtones, or utilizing new objects as yourself has done.

 

I'll scream if I see yet another basic missionary position. It needs something beyond - the cuffed versions are a good example.

Thank you all - for now it seems that I am indeed my own worst critic. 

 

Making new ones is more fun to do, so I'm glad it seems that the most also prefer that. But maybe I'll do a 50/50 type of thing, or a 75/25: remaster some of them that really are an eyesore to me (like the ones on the counter, my very first animations ever - maybe I'll redo those eventually). Although I am afraid that I will follow the same path in another year, when I learn something new again, lol. Maybe it's just best to go with the learning curve and let the animations show that. 

 

We'll see! I'll leave the poll up for a while.

Don't forget K69! He started with the door animations for example, we didn't had those before that ^^ 

 

But you're right, creating new things brings something to the game. Although I must admit that finding something new to do becomes difficult after so many animations. Also, some objects are 'rare', so I won't see the animation often if there is one for it (let's say the bondage frame for example, I rarely use that one in game, but I did make animations for it which I often just forget about. So I've spend days on animations I actually never use - I see that as a waste of my time. So I hope other people do use it, then at least it wasn't for nothing)

Yeah, sorry about that - isn't too active recently, and never seems to post in other locations...

 

I had been remembering a Sims 2 event: When looking through the telescope during the day - the game considered you as 'peeping' and most often another Sim would storm into your home and berate you for spying. This gave me an Idea to see if anyone might consider using the Sims 3 telescope as an object for Kinky animations - Low and behold both Lucas and Clydie made it happen!. Other new objects like the Mechanical Bull have been used, and there was a rather in depth convo going considering how to get the Picnic Table to work - and that was also accomplished.

 

So I guess it depends on the viability of finding new base game objects capable of location, or use of EP/SP objects which would leave some players wanting if they didn't have access to that object and as you said with the bondage frame - using a new object CC.

 

Someone made a conversion of the sims 4 objects: Movie camera(s) to the Sims 3, and these are also treated like telescopes. So if one is making a 'porno' movie at a movie studio (custom - not default), then the option for the camera operators getting aroused is now available - funny how it all kinda falls into place sometimes....

I also hate some of my animations and thought to clear them out. But finally decided to leave them in, because a bad animation is better then none and nobody is forced to install them. And as I am in the mood, I pull them up and try to improve them. (For my part, the more I am able to use the blender functions, the more I can improve) Luckily I have the blender files archived. But some errors I did find only later and basically I am unhappy because most animations look odd if i.e. a teen or a heavier set sim is involved. Try always to find a compromise but often fail or it looks bad on "regular" sims. By the way, this affects ALL Sims 3 animations and only less of my sims I would call "regular", so there is always to remember of what AMRA said about Not Recommended : Additionnal CAS sliders ..... (or you may will face clipping)

 

However, I did not saw or would call even one of your animations as bad. So I also vote for new ones.

But I am not that sensitive on that. I even love the older Spaceman animations where KW does not support the necessary (moveable) Penis for this nice animations, so what !

Yes! I'm not scared... I have KW/Debug/Move to solve any visual issues with alignment I often get. Tis the price we pay for variety!

It all made me think now - this, and some messages I got. 

 

I think new animations is the best to do, it got the most votes and it's what I like to do. I also already foresee a problem if I'm going to replace old animations: some might become upset that they're gone and that would leave me with more work, creating different packages: one with older animations and one without. Ain't nobody got time for that. 

 

So, the people, who (like myself) are bothered by some of the older animations, would just have to do with blacklisting (or removing) them so they don't play automatically. 

 

Thanks everyone for voting! It was good for me to see that I'm just criticizing my work unnecessarily hard - a lesson learned. So, I'm gonna stop doing that and just have some fun creating!
