Jenneke Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I saw this article just now, ( http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-things-i-learned-trying-to-get-laid-in-skyrim/ ) I expect site traffic is about to go up a fair amount.
visby Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Great another user who thinks his inability to understand the basics of moding are somehow the fault of the mod authors. Also by the authors own admission Cracked gets less traffic then LL so I don't think LL will see too big a bounce.
NickNozownik Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I guess this guy simply downloaded every single sex mod and skipped the readme. It's simple and clear even if you are a newbie. "I spent a day of my life trying to install erotic Skyrim mods and mostly failed." Oh please.
Caffeine Addict Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 It is too bad that this "journalist" preferred to write a snarky article (trying to hide it as "humour") about LL and marking every user here as "masturbators that jerk off to a videogame" instead of writing an article about how creative people can be, how helpful towards each other and how open minded. And it really shows how narrowminded that author is because he thinks every mod author has to know english or be a native english speaker. It seems, it never crossed his mind that people from all around the world are part of this lovely community.

Caffeine Addict Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Basically that's something in between these two that loverslab is. Well, if that guy had asked for help installing the mods, he would have realized that there is more to LL than just people installing mods and wanking to them. But instead of interacting with the community and trying to find out what makes it tick, he decided to mock LL in an article that riddicules the whole community. But it is more his loss, because he misses out on a lot of great people.
Yuni Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 From my experience modding, it takes a dedicated user to make even the good things work properly. If you're only installing things 'for a laugh' or to peer at a community you don't understand, you're going to give up easily when things get buggy, not ask for help when you need it, not learn the basic tips and tricks people need (like setstage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1) to make mods work right. When I find a new, juicy, sexy mod, that is really something I want in my game? Not rain nor snow will keep me from my appointed debugging rounds. But someone like this chump? Of course it'll look like things don't work, he'll give up on the second try. It takes dedication to get anything out of the modding system, so brief passers-by like him will never understand. Edit: And fuck him for not liking anyone who doesn't speak English in the modding community. This is the INTERNET, not somewhere in the US. Some of my favorite mods have been by foreign authors.
Leo77 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Isn't cracked one of those buzzfeed tier shite-holes that are infested with clickbait articles with virtually no research into what they write about, only caring about views for dem green bills? Why are we even paying attention to it?

Caffeine Addict Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Amusement and boredom, personally. This ^ And I suffer from low blood pressure, I have to do something to get it up from time to time
~magic~ Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Isn't cracked one of those buzzfeed tier shite-holes that are infested with clickbait articles with virtually no research into what they write about, only caring about views for dem green bills? Why are we even paying attention to it? Cracked is miles better than buzzfeed, and contributors do research what they write about. Also, I found the article hilarious.

Plus I'm pretty bad at explaining myself... even worse in english.
Kpnut Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 That entire article is fucking pathetic, rather than lurk for a bit to get a feel for the community (as anyone who's had ANY experience on forums knows they should do) he launched straight into bashing the entire community because he was too stupid to read mod descriptions and readmes. I don't even find it funny.
Uncle64 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 My self was thinking what he-ck he was trying to say. As other says he have failed to read about the mods. You can only look at his pictures to se that. And he ask why have mis char no penis and so on. And as other says, he thinks everyone live in US and Internet is rotating around US. Oh my. He need some pills from one doctor and stop writing.

Well thats the point ain't it? He didn't really want to install or even use those sex mods, he wanted an excuse to write a clickbait moral outrage article about how sad and pathetic those "virtual sex" games are, and how much creepy its users who want stuff like that are, in typical sarcastic new age 'humor' fashion. Its all about confirming how horrifying and offensive the Internet outside social media and 'approved' sites like Cracked is to their readership of office drones. its like somebody that hates (or rather doesn't give a crap) about chicken writes a sensational article on KFC to their readership of vegans.
Guffel Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 At first I found the article funny, but the end was too judging in my eyes. When he let loverslab look like a secrent hideout of the modding villains I felt a bit infamous^^. But then he's a bit too suprised about how much is done for adult mods for Skyrim. The two forums dedicated to Skyrim porn have a combined 578,389 posts. For comparison, Cracked's General Discussion forum and the Comedy Workshop, the beating heart of this site, have 522,291. There are more people dedicated to adding sex to Skyrim than there were dedicated to adding Skyrim to Skyrim Like "Cracked" are the good and hounorable guys and we're the disgusting scum on earth! What a hypocritic! As if it's news that anything that's even close to naked skin on the internet get more attention than anything else. I think this guy just wrote for his target audience. People who directly feel embarresed when you just mention sex in computer games. As he said: I was going to write about my adventures for your horrified amusement [...] He clearly has no experience with modding and doesn't get that what modders do in their free time clearly hasn't the same standards as fully priced games (or DLCs, i just relaized that mods basically are DLCs^^). He just comfirms the prejudice of the wrong people, which is sad. But one thing he's right about: http://i.imgur.com/I02Hc72.gif The eyes really look a bit static. With some minimal eye movement it'd look way more realistic
PsychoMachina Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 The article is just a struggle in being humorous. Everyone forgets that you need to be a member of LL to download most of the mods so that means the author is a member (unless he had someone do it for him). It's no different than if he recounts the time he picked up a prostitute, his attempts at getting 'aroused' and figuring out 'what goes where', all the while using this as proof that prostitution is a blight to the community.
pinky6225 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Made me chuckle although he never answered the main question of "Like, "What does it say about modern civilization that people have the free time to design dog-fucking mods, and then I get paid to write about them?"
Captain Cobra Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I made a promise to myself to never browse Cracked until they became funny, and I am glad to have kept that promise.
Kimy Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 The author tried to be funny, but the laughs clearly come at our expense, as we're pictured as fairly weird people who go to great lengths just to add barely functional naughty content to a game not designed for it in any shape or fashion. In the end, the message clearly was "I don't understand why they are bothering with it". Personally I don't think installing a basic SexLab setup with some mods using it is all that complicated, though. Even in my (fairly naughty) load order, LL mods are in a clear minority compared to non-adult mods that took overall much more time to set up and get to work right. And it's not that some mods aren't incompatible with other mods on Nexus, so both issues are hardly LL exclusive problems. And last but not last, while not every animation looks 100% satisfying and sometimes don't line up correctly etc., a lot of them are fairly decent, particularly given that Skyrim -really- wasn't meant to do that.
Caffeine Addict Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 The author tried to be funny, but the laughs clearly come at our expense, as we're pictured as fairly weird people who go to great lengths just to add barely functional naughty content to a game not designed for it in any shape or fashion (bolding and underlining by me) And that is exactly what rubs me as wrong about this "article" (hard not to write dribble instead). The author knows that he can get away with making fun of this community. Either nobody from here replies in his comment section, or, if someone does, that person will get bashed and attacked by the author's target group, the oh so upright people that would never do such things. If the guy who wrote this really were any kind of journalist, then he would have done some research, maybe even *gasp* talked to some people here, before writing that "funny" piece.
asdfcowboy Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 The guy writing the article must be a total dumbass but the secound page is still fun. Ofc he has to say all this bad stuff that everyone here is a pervert and shit to save his face as a journalist. I agree that some of the content on this site is scary, but no one forced him to install stuff like that. If you dont like something just move on. It even seems like he tryed to pick the most disturbing mods on purpose but only got the beastiality to work. He could have gone for amourus adventures or other mods that aim to implement sexual content in a more lore friendly non agressive way but he is just a dumbass trying to get alot of views on his story about these "scandalous" skyrim sex mods. Journalism nowadays... just sad
Chaos63 Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Don't take this so seriously. It's just a (mildly hilarious)story about a guy who virtually fucked a dog, felt bad when he blew his load and guilt-nuked his skyrim directory in response. I'll bet you anything he becomes a regular here.

It consists of lists of things. 3. Even an article that has no business looking like a list of things, looks like a list of things. 2. People at Cracked obviously have a 'thing' for lists of things. 1. End of list. Oops, sorry, I just came. Now I feel a little empty inside.
