If they plan on resurrecting paid mods, then addressing that issue would be a fairly high priority given the controversy around that fishing mod.

This is precisely why I don't support nor want paid mods, many mods are built on ideas and assets of other creators, I just know cheaters will steal them to sell as original mods; modders will become reluctant to share their mods for fear of their work benefiting unscrupulous people.

I just know Bethesda will use FO4 to try pull a fast one on the community.

Only 79 days left gentlemen.

And people not sharing their work means less productive and talented modders sharing at all. We already saw an example of that when they tried to pull that stunt on Skyrim back in April.

And Miin, it's going to be on the Creation Engine like Skyrim is. It's just a modified version of the Creation Engine for Fallout and next gen. The Creation Kit is a certainty, but I just worry that Fallout 4 is going to get bent over like Skyrim with custom animations. If this is the way they plan to go, I'm not interested in their games. I didn't bother to get custom animations to work with FNIS for reasons and have no desire to ever try and getting working. And it's one of the reasons why I don't like Skyrim much. Same will happen with me and Fallout 4 if they go this route.

Edit: My topic got merged with the larger discussion topic =( Oh well....

What mods are you wanting to see? I realize there is a lot we still don't know about the game or how we'll mod it so this is mostly for fun.

I'll start the ball rolling with this one:  I'd like to see a mod that uses the clean, modern materials when building your home. It would would be like rebuilding civilization around you.

Post what you'd like and I'll try to condense for easy reading.

Edit:

I'm wondering if we'll be able to somewhat easily convert mods between Skyrim and Fallout 4. They're on nearly the same engine.

Current ideas:

CPU/USE09 > Sexlab/sexout/BnB (SexF4ll)

Captain Cobra > Lockpicking improved from NV

DixiePig > Blink ability

Maubel72 > SAO season 2 clothing

youngfool > Vaultmeat brought into Fallout. (wonder is Shadman is on LL?)

Monkeyshoulder > One body mesh with body slide

rawr22 > HDT physics

baeledrae > Dogmeat changed to a cougar

CPU > only ONE sex framework

thelordofroses > giant death robots (matroska mechs)

chbakaal > Junkyard Mod

dstroy > better emotions than previous games (fallout/skyrim)

Loki1066 > breeder and other sex related mods

User09 > on defeat, player is enslaved in their own village  (I freaking love this idea!)

A SaxLab like mod (a framework.) With all the experience done in SexLab, but by removing the old stuff.

Proposed name: SexF4ll

A mod that'll change the lockpicking minigame to something like the one in Oblivion, or the one in Mafia II.

Current minigame is steaming garbage.

Do you know already how will be the lockpick minigame in FO4?  ;)

Thats my worry too at the moment that they will restrict the creation kit in some way. Hopefully they wont, but we will not know until the creation kit is in our hands.

Still would like to know more specifics when it comes to the engine. Next gen could mean anything right now. And I hate the fact that we dont actually know anything of substance.

And I do hope anything with paid mods is a dead idea. Its like the auctionhouse in diablo 3, a very very very bad idea from the begining.

Playing the Neingheim race mod for Skyrim completely changed the game for me because of their "blink" short range teleport ability. It wasn't OP, and it opened up all kind of new strategies for combat and sneaking and exploration.

So, Blink teleport. But also any other changes that add new and interesting dimensions to gameplay.

How exactly would short range teleporting make sense within the Fallout lore ?

You could probably have a bald guy in a lab coat make some excuse.

It seems like a weird question because with Fallout, getting the tone right has always seemed to be a higher priority than creating a self consistent world. The rules are deliberately inconsistent because they operate on the logic of shlocky 20th century scifi films, which means that just about anything goes, so long as you provide technobabble.

On topic: Bit of a nitpick mod but I liked how in the Witcher 3 when you tried to walk on steep terrain you would slide down it. So the designers could create nice controlled level design in the open world, and traversing down mountains was a lot of fun. In Skyrim and Oblivion I often gave in to temptation and took a direct route by climbing a mountain, but it isn't fun, and you miss out on the carefully designed adventure.

I lost count of how many times I ran up a mountain but it did get me to some awesome places. There is a dwemer ruin on the northeast corner of the map, way up in the mountains. It connects to a very deep spider infested water slide that takes you through the mountain.

So....I didn't notice who voiced the female player until Ba-Bruce posted that....maybe it was because she didn't say Cerberus Cheerleader Bitch all the time and wanting everyone dead. :3

Also...Dragon Age had a transgender character?! Damn I didn't ever see that, then again I only play Origins, 2, and Shitquisition. That's neat, more equality.

Is there any word on if race/gender will play important roles in Fallout 4? Such as a female player may deal with sexism, African American/Asian/Hispanic will deal with racism? It would be a bit touchy but a good way to expand beyond the 5 year old friendly atmosphere every Bethesda product has had without modding involved.

I highly doubt gender or race will have any impact, Bethesda will rather make a quick easy buck than to risk offending people and hurting game sales. I'm all in for realism, but only mods can deliver that experience.

Thinking about how the fallout games have gone, I don't believe there will be a racism as you may think.  They have always had a form of racism in their games but that was always between humans, supermutants, ghouls.  Not really between the different humans.

Do I think it could help realism/immersion? Eh maybe, maybe not.  I would rather they focus more on other things then that honestly.  Maybe one of these days a Fallout game will come out WITH supermutant/ghoul choices as playable in the base game not requiring a race mod.  That would be worh money to me.  Have a beginning for each race then.

Sadly but true, I believe that some of the first mods to come out for F4 will be a revert to the F3/NV dialogue windows.  I am all for trying out their new way, but there is a lot of talk on the internet right now of people being upset about it.  Humans get comfy with stuff they are used to, change it and a shit storm happens.  Change is needed when releasing new games, or your just copying a previous game.

No matter what is or isn't in F4 I intend to be here from the start and until the end.

The dialogue wheel it's just a bad idea for this type of game, with only 4 possible choices it can become a mess when you factor in extra dialogues from quests and mods, even if the wheel can be extended to accommodate 8 choices that still isn't enough.

Posted

this is just bad influence of consoles. this dialogue menu would be a pain if someone would want to make a story mod with a lot of dialogues.

would be even worse for quests that would be giving you multiple choices of what to do.

Ok watching those trailers - looks fun.

But unfortunately, above all else, it looks very, very, VERY consolish.

Point is i've spent over 1500h in Skyrim. And every console game i've played so far made me bored after max 20.

Ofc plenty of things look amazing there, that dynamic building system for instance. Hell, i already want to build my own slave camp somewhere  :P

I'll get straight to building and then putting Dogmeat down. I like the idea of building after playing Hearthfire for the first time during my first play through of Skyrim. Married Aela and we lived in the Dawnstar area. Trying to figure out how to make mods like Hearthfire building. Anyways building, crafting, and shooting the stupid dog so it will shut up and leave me be is my plan. (May need console commands to kill the dog though if it's essential) Wonder if we can name it? Just be neat like how Dragon Age Origins lets you name your dog, a little more personal over premade stuff is always good.

Anyone ever hear of a "more" option? Seriously, even if its only 4 options at a time that doesn't mean that's all you'll have, period.

It's only *3* options at a time if you have a "more" option. What if you need to have 10 choices in total? Which translates into 4 pages:

3 options + more

3 options + more

3 options + more

and another 1 option?

And if you also need an additional "back" option, then it means 5 pages in total. Maybe functional, but definitely not practical.
