Yet another Steam thread demonizing LL and sexual mods in general.

Don't forget that LL also has very lax rules regarding everything. Depending on which thread you visit, it ranges from a hugbox to /v/-tier shitposting and anything inbetween. We have something for everyone. Other modding communities have become too large or enforce strict rules on what content is allowed and which isn't. Like everyone makes a big deal about porn in games yet everyone wants it. Well, not everyone, but you get what I mean.

True dat, another proof that censorship is an obstacle to creativity most of the times. There should be 3/4 iron rules about the real disgusting stuff, but as for the rest freedom and modding always go together.

You know what I find disgusting, for me pedo/thieving stuff belongs to the disgusting realm as much as the illegal one.

Loli isn't pedo. And we did have a loli mod for a long time before ashal changed the legal rules.

It was quality stuff, just saying.

But that's the point, everyone draws a different line. The legal definition of whats allowed and what isn't may not be the best definition there is, but at least it's clear for everybody. And most importantly it isn't open for discussion.

Harsh, exiled, unorthodox, or ostracized environments make cooperation in those shared environments a necessity to survive.  It's human nature.

Don't wanna get into an argument about loli content, just find it personally repulsive, even if I do understand the drawn hentai loli stuff I just can't when it's 3d and when it's thriving to be realistic. I think it should be okay as long as it doesn't try to become more erm, "vivid", in short. Like a hentai artist just draws his character, and you can't be mistaken that it is a drawing, no matter how well done the drawing is. Yet loli mods are not there, done, there's always something that goes "realistic textures for underage characters" or "SOS addon for kids" that just disgusts me. But that's my opinion again, without even talking about what I think is disgusting or not, it still heavily falls under most laws about created content, and I'd just like to keep modding without having to fear the police knocking at my door for having an account on a website hosting loli mods, ever.

Aight aight, let's go for 3/4 legal iron rules then. My bad for my individualistic use of pejorative adjectives entitling nothing but my own opinion. ( )

Thieving stuff = pirating?

More like stealing assets from another modder. That's the first rule of modding, always ask permission. Don't appreciate pirating too, but imho it's second to stealing from modder, simply because most of the time a company can live by if their games get pirated by people whereas a modder can just decide to stop doing what he does, as it happened countless times with FO/Skyrim modders.

Opinions are all nice and dandy, it's when you start to force them upon others that the mess begins. Rules should be as neutral as possible, without any kind of personal agenda. I mean, that's exactly what happened over at wolflore, the old admin was okay with all the rape content, the new ones weren't and I'm sure they were really, really looking forward to give all the filth that has accumulated over at their forum the boot. All the content got kicked out just because someone didn't like it. Fuck no, never again pls, I'm still traumatized. That may or may not be the reason I disagreed with what you said, despite it being mostly semantics.

That's my opinion on the matter. Live and let live.

The only way adult modding can thrive is to make sure that everything that isn't forbidden for good reasons is allowed, and to have a site culture where people are expected to simply pass on what they don't like rather than start trolling it.

You know that even without anyone's opinions or tastes on the matter, it's still illegal so moot point really. Rape and bestiality are already walking on the line here on that account, so yeah. Just one thing over the line and everything goes with it, if we "live and let live" a similar scenario as what happened at wolflore would happen here.

well i see that

mainly because LL fame out there is

"the website that makes horsedicks for females and prefer to turn TES and fallout into a hiking sex waifu simulator for loli loving weaboos, rather than play or make normal mods like everyone else."

also the loli rape bullshit made a lot of new members leave this place and go to places, like vgu and even TES alliance like the Ragna-ROK

That's exactly why it was forbidden, Ashal was pretty honest about it. It's not much of a loss anyway, the internet is a big place.

In your particular case, yeah, it doesn't matter, because underage content is illegal anyway and the site might run into legal issues. But that wasn't the point, my point was that it should play no role for the rules what some might find disgusting or uncomfortable, because that's where the downward spiral usually starts.

And tbh I don't think how this site would go the way wolflore went. What happened at wolflore was what you said - rules based on what you find repulsive. The admin just needs to have a different opinion than you on what is disgusting and what isn't to ban content you enjoy.

I'm talking about the hypothetical situation where Ashal for example doesn't want to ban loli mods. Soon enough, the website runs into problems, and everything must go, rape-ish hentai mods, tentacles and dog sex, everything. So illegal or not, disgusting or not, the same thing as what happened over at wolflore happens, everything goes away as you said.

But yeah I do get your point, if we base rules on people' tastes, everything blows up. We should only observe laws (with flexibility as DoctaSax says), I got it Grim, I got it.

but ignoring laws is not live and let live, it's more like go to jail and have your website removed.

okay, I'll stop now.

People who use "autistic" and "autist" as an insult are assholes, because the only ones they insult are people with autism.

Sorry, if I offended any asshole.

I can't believe this thread is still going.   At least many of the replies I've seen since I last posted seem reasonable.

Let me reinterate a few points though

1)  Trashing the Nexus for Trashing LL doesn't make one morally superior, it makes them the same as the people they're criticizing.

2)  Every site has the right to set their own rules.  It's a private site.  Freedom of Speech applies to GOVERNMENT interference in your ability to say what you want.

3)  The Nexus is the biggest site out there for third party content.  That makes them a HUGE target for government action for exposing minors to adult material (that gets you lablelled a sex offender and forced to register on the sites showing where pedophiles live), Copyright violation lawsuits from other video game manufacturers, movie makers, and even music distributors & artists, and who knows what else.  If you want to blame somebody for half the crap the Nexus does, blame the lawyers and bureaucrats of the world.  They force big organizations of all types to constantly act in a defensive manner.

Let's face it too, there's a buttload of mods out there that are content stolen from other games.  That seems to get folks banned from the Nexus more than anything else.

Yeah there's definitely a fair amount of banning for arguing with the moderators too, but I was a Super-Moderator (mod for the entire site) at DiscussAnything.com when it actually had traffic (3000 or so members back then).  The internet brings out the braying jackass in alot of people and they think they're entitled to scream like a two year old until they get what they want.

For example, I had a handful of people wanting me to ban one new member on DA because she caused trouble on another site they frequented.  Innocent until proven guilty of the same conduct at DA meant nothing apparently.  I explained that the staff would keep an eye on the gal and be aware of her attempts at manipulating the staff, but to be fair that was all we could do until we caught her trolling.  Not good enough.  They screamed until I had to threaten to ban the lot of them.  Then of course, there's the people who constantly troll and try to play rules lawyer about their trolling.

Point is, being a moderator at any decent sized site is NOT easy.  Not a job I'd want again either.  It only takes a few people running amok to poison an entire site too.  I saw that ultimately destroy DA's traffic.  Sometimes it's easier to drop the ban hammer.  We as members don't always see the entire story either.

All of that said, I'd agree that the Nexus is a bit heavy handed.  I personally had a bit gentler style than some of the moderators there.  Just remember, there's always another side to the story.

I personally will pay a lot of attention if it was Total Biscuit, but he's not that immature.

You have no idea. He bitched like crazy about ppl finding the new Hearthstone heroes overprized (which is a fact).

It's an ebin 4chan meme

Ebin as in Spurdo Spärde?

I'm not gonna score any points with this comment, but...

It's not a fact. It's an opinion, presumably a popular one, but it cannot be a fact since no objective criterion exists for determining the price of purchasable additional content in a video game.
