Whenever I spawn into the Live Another Life start with this mod, all of my character models show as invisible except for their heads. Can someone walk me through this one?

Hello Kimy, hello folks,

 

well...been a while since i get myself updated about DCL and just returned here to get rid of a questions and just found out DCL is on version 8.3. Omg...where´s time going?

 

So, my initial question was just about the dollmaker. I finally found some time to play around with this feature. The talking option where the DM put on some special rubber suit for advertisement purpose and tells the player to go out and been seen...

How long have i wear it? Did i have to remove it by myself? There is no special quest.

 

And my 2nd quesion, and i am really sorry to ask that, but i am still using DCL version 6.4.

Can this be upgraded to 8.3 or is it better to start a new game?

 

Ugh, ast but not least, the new "Working Girl" feature, does this conflict wiit "Radiant Prostitution" Any expirience with that?

I expected the "look at how weird this is" routine, but that was well done.

It's better than the first episode where he wanted to fuck a goat. I'm not hating on him, but I don't want it to look like LL is all about beastiality.

I am sure that models exist and they were in use once, but can't remember the exact mods. Something like the original slaverun i think (at least i remember they were laying around there), so... quite outdated. Not sure though if they were from DDa or maybe ZAP. Could have been the old DDi quest too where you got locked into them at some point.

I enjoy watching his vids sometimes, but neither because of his choices nor because he does a good job on adding them either.^^ I consider them entertaining, but that's rather personal taste and often you have to ignore that he's way less good at installing mods correctly than one might assume after all that time. ;)

 

But if Laura wants her mod to be shown, leaving some comments might help. I will. :)

You're right, my mod won't give the shock value that furries or goat fucking can bring. But T.ara's mod is also tame, so there's still a chance. :D

Well... not sure. Before DDi 4.0 the common crawl animation replacing sneak would still work fine while wearing armbinders etc, but now the crawl is replaced by DDs sneak. Not sure if that would have worked with legs as well at all before, and even less now. But i think it should be possible at least in theory. There's also a cat crawl animation that had the legs wider apart which might work better in that respect, but was too fast for my taste.

The main problem with crawling animations I see is that Skyrim doesn't have turning animations when you walk. It's not very obvious when you're walking regularly, but when you're crawling while wearing the petsuit, being able to turn 180 ° in an instant looks really silly. I assume that they want to avoid restraints that require crawling animations because of it.

 

I never wore a spreader bar, but I assume that it's much harder to walk with than regular leg bindings. Walking with it is really slow and it an animation like that won't look right when you speed it up. So you'll probably be forced to go even slower than with the legbinders.

Hopping with it is really dangerous IRL, but they already have a hopping animation for the legbindings that they could maybe change to work with a spreader bar.

 

If a spreader bar would be added, I expect it to either be a legbinder type restraints that uses hopping animations or as part of bondage furniture.

But I could be completely wrong.

When I puzzle out why I'm frozen in this prison :) Hobble dress have higher priority than boots and uses settings from DDI MCM (~50 by default, if I remember it right. I have 35)
Put on a dress - can go
Remove it - can't go
Too extreme values for the effect of slowing down for prison boots, and who don't pay attention that there are other mods that can slow down player.

Crawling animations already exist, and we live with the drawbacks.

 

I thought there was, at least theoretically, a turning animation, which is applied when you try to turn while crawling, and if the crawling animation doesn't override the turns properly, you pop back into idle stance while you are turning, then pop back to crawl, creating the issue seen in DF?

 

 

Spreader bars, however you choose to implement them - crawling, or walking very awkwardly - are something really not covered by DD right now, which makes them interesting.

 

The easy answer is to make them furniture only, but that raises the question lingering around DD furniture ... what should furniture do for the player?

What is the point of it?

 

Just a display item? And even if it's that, it needs to display properly. You need a json that says where the camera should be and what point it should look at, what the player offset and facing should be, entry point + facing, dismount point + facing, entry and exit animations, and so on. This wasn't done well with Zaz really. It's hard to use and set-up, quite muddled, perhaps overly generic, but it tries to deliver these things.

 

Existing implementations (Zaz) are often bad player experiences, with various severe camera problems, dismounts that drop you inside a collision box, causing considerable difficulty in getting out of it, and scaling issues, so that they only work with a certain sized player model.

 

This latter is particularly tricky - you could always sneakily scale the player in furniture - and if there's a camera mode flip, it might not be glaringly painful - but you're probably not going to scale the furniture, that would be worse. And not scaling at all, it's not good. You see this with Zaz items made for standard Nord... Put a Breton in them and top of her head is peeking out where her neck should be and her hands don't even reach the stocks.

 

But perhaps furniture should be more meaningful. It should come with points, facings, and animations for people to play with the furniture occupant. It should come with multiple animations linked to states that can be switched by mod events. It should come with activators to get into it, triggering proper mount animations, and ways to put NPCs in it that look like scenes, not teleports...

 

Who is to make all these animations? They'd have to really love furniture.

 

But if there's no intent to genuinely improve on Zaz, why bother at all?

I would love to have spreader bars, but without a AA set made specifically for this item, it cannot be done. I don't have the skills to make animations, and I believe Tin (DD's awesome animator) is still working on a new batch of models. It's -definitely- on my wish list!

I am afraid you will have to start a new game. Generally, I tend to assign major version numbers when a new game is required.

Speaking of Tins models, do you know if there is any news on the new catsuits that was shown off a while back?

Tin gave me the rope devices so far (lots, lots of them!), I..well...tried to merge to GitHub, but found that one of the models is too large for GitHub, so this needs to be sorted first. I do not know the status of the other devices he's working on.

The thing with cooldown vs low chance is that with a cooldown you know you're safe once you get an action, with a chance, you never know for sure.

 

 

Or, what about making realeasing bound girls more attractive? For each one you save, you earn bonus helpfulness from females?

Currently there's not much motivation to save them, or speak to them at all. It's too risky.

 

 

Both device comments and bound girls have been around a long time, and both can have a big effect on your game, but the options are very limited.

You can't stop device comments messing up your DF situation, for example - not without just turning them off in the MCM completely.

 

Bound girls seem like they should have more features.

 

 

I like that you can horde devices and turn them in for keys, but in practice going all the way to Dawnstar makes this a rare thing. Mostly the devices get dumped to make room for cash vendable items - because Dawnstar is too far. But if you were tempted to hand onto them, you have more chance to end up wearing them.

 

What if the "Slaver" would also swap restraints for keys?

It would make him more useful as an NPC, and wouldn't make it too common a facility.

Could add a small risk he uses them on you, then sells you instead of giving keys :)

 

 

My latest fantasy is that if you don't clear the bound girls from an area, they build up. And if too many build up, they decide that you should join them.

So you'd have to work to keep their numbers down ... with the risk of cursed items jumping onto you.

 

Being made to join them would be boring if it was simply more items - you're taking that risk to free them (in this scenario) anyway - but what if they put you in devices, and you gained a bound-girl follower, and had to do a repeatable quest to escape? And the follower replaces your items if you remove them. A repeatable quest you could complete in town, that might involve talking to lots of people while seriously bound ... maybe asking them to release the bound girls (but not you) ... and you can't practically leave town until it's done because of serious restraints (like petsuit or straightjacket and blindfold).

 

 

At the end, when enough bound girls are all free, they reward you with release, and a special collar - which is locked on - it has three charges - each charge acts like a lucky charm. You're stuck in a collar, with whatever consequences that has, until you've triggered three DCL traps. No new bound girls spawn while you have the collar on.

 

If you don't discharge the collar within a time limit, it might transform into a rubber doll collar...

 

Or ... instead of a three charge collar ... three items ... each acts like a lucky charm ... and can't be removed until discharged: collar, gag and belt. Gag is removed first, then collar, then belt.

 

And afterwards, you're in the "bound girl club" forever. You get some new dialogs with them. Maybe even a vendor who sells DARE boxes?

Maybe the vendor will sometimes help you escape restraints, and maybe sometimes the vendor will offer "Smoking Hot", or "LBA".

The dollmaster already does something like that, on the other hand, if oyu add the chance of getting more restainrs.. maybe it might be smarter to just avoid this completely. I'd avoid it.. Why to bother gathering a key for few restrains if everything it unlocks is the the one restraint i receive because i wanted a key in first place.. sence makes not O.o

 

Nevermind found an exception "Currently there's not much motivation to save them, or speak to them at all. It's too risky." Dont really know much about bound girls, always got a reward so far without getting into trouble, but THE DAREBAGS! (or packs.. ?) togather with damn box, remove rocks from the loot :D i opened both damn and dare boxes at once and after few adular rocks and 5 lucky charms i was thinking about just dropping both on ground and not bother :X

10 potions so far is the best loot, and clothes.
Potions and rocks are not really worth the risk of even a single restraint. A key is a nice one, would like some new clothing especially at the beggining. Gold never fails.
