You probably already figured this out, but the files are a multi-file zip. Put them all in the same spot on your computer, then unzip the first one, 001.

Ok, not sure where the conflict is with the "Alt Start" but um...

Even when I have no followers, a few days into any play has a random horse appear- usually in an inn after a rest- approach me, and start the "We need to Talk" dialogue to become the devious follower.   Let me be clear- I don't OWN that horse.  I've never interacted with that horse,   Heck, one time it was from Beyond Skyrim- Bruma before I ever even visited Bruma.   It just appears in the middle of the inn demanding compensation like some bad skooma trip.

I could have sworn that I even started the most recent game with a "set all npcs as non-devious" debug click to prevent this, but... sure enough... there's that damn black stallion in the bannered mare... wait... there's a better way to phrase that...

Anyways...

Going back to the previous save (this usually occurs after a rest), reloading, and disabling the alt start option doesn't prevent it from happening.
If I disable devious followers via MCM settings, the horse still appears but the dialogue becomes just a standard NPC greeting.

Not really sure if I should mention it here, or on the Bimbos of Skyrim mod thread, but since it's more on the side of DF I figured I'd mention/ask here.

Is there a way to set that the player is wearing the required piercings when using the various piercing deals? The PC is pierced in the various spots already due to BoS  integration using their included piercings, but DF doesn't want to recognize them. At least the nipple piercings from what I've tested. Having a toggle or way to tell what slot to watch for them would be nice.

I'd use a pair that DF recognizes, but I do prefer the look of the BoS ones.

I have been using the alternate start, running around with sven doing bleakfalls barrow and stuff, resting a bit here and there and waiting. I havent had them talk to me about money yet. I have changed areas a couple times obviously, going into the different areas of bleakfalls and taking plenty of resting. What should I be doing differently to trigger the asking about money? Increase the chance?

As far as I remember, the Alt Start option kicks in when you don't have a follower, are wearing a collar and are low on willpower. Then a guard will grab and cuff you, and ask you to take them to your Master - any random NPC eligible as a follower.

With Sven as a regular follower (I guess, never talked to him...) he should have said something like "I hope you don't try to cheat me like the other adventurers," and in the dialogue options, a [klick me] topic should appear. As long as you don't klick that topic, this mod/quest doesn't start.

Force start is still an option. Alternate Start is new and has its own tab in the MCM. The idea being you don't know when a follower will decide they want to be paid. How often the mod rolls the dice on whether the follower will decide to ask for money can be set from .2 - 20 days. Need to move around, I don't know if different cells in BFB is enough. I found my follower in a fort. We went from there to Windhelm > Winterhold > Bandit Paradise (may have paused the mod there, don't recall) > Windhelm and traveled south, stopping in Shor's Stone, another dungeon, and finally my follower decided they wanted to be paid. They already had a figure calculated.

If you want a follower to go devious faster, shorten the days for the possibility roll. Check the other settings in the Alt. Start tab.

Or disable Alt. Start for the standard approach. I don't know if you'll need to reset the mod, though, to clear your follower's DF factions and packages. There's a new faction called altstart or something.

@Lozeak, I installed your new version for my latest pt. I used the alt. start and kind of like how the DF quest kind of snuck up on me.

I did have an issue, however. The follower who became DF was Kaidan - I forgot I had to disable him as a DF when I first met him. I used the debug menu to remove the follower and thought all was well until I told him we should rest. Then came the force-greets, one after another. Removing him as a follower didn't remove him from the altstartfollower faction and the altstart package came into play whenever we were resting, replacing his expected package.

I think I fixed it by removing the faction from him in console, dismissing him, letting him leave the current cell (and checking that he had the right package going on) and then re-recruiting him.

Just thought you should know.

Now I have a follower who is enabled as a DF and I look forward to how that will play out.

Yeah, it finally did start to work. I wish it had a little more lead up though. It just goes from being a follower to devious like the flip of a switch, I would enjoy it much more if it had a little dialogue to go through letting you know what their plan is going forward.

The regular start does have dialog, beginning with "I hope you don't forget to pay me" (something like that) or "start of a beautiful partnership". The surprise is kind of the point of the alt. start. You might get more lead up into the deals if your check time is short and your chance is high, but I don't know for sure. My time between checks was long so I had a fair amount of accumulated debt by the time the DF announced himself, lol.

Would it be possible to have a mode that makes debt not accumulate in town location types? Sleeping can rack up thousands of gold in debt - while my follower could just relax in town, or sleep themselves. Not really something you can demand money for I'd say.

Would it be possible to get an option to replace the circlet from the circlet deal with a custom mesh, same as we can do for whore armour? There are a number of outfits with cute and appropriate circlet meshes IMO.

Thank you for this. I had just soft locked my game with the continued version of the mod, where the pet suit jarl scene plays. And I look up if there is an update or fix only to find the original author returned and answered my prayer. I updated and look at that, the scene worked as it was supposed to!

I'm getting a bug on the Innkeeper deal, where I greet the innkeeper, they say the greeting and then nothing happens, only I lose the control of the character for the duration of the greeting.

Reading the thread... sounds like lots of bugs especially from Alternate Start LAL...

I use ASLAL, and was wondering if I can use this mod for a simple slavery outcome and only a simple slavery outcome. I don't want this mod effecting any other companions or followers?

Is this mod worth my time or should I move along?

I never had problems resulting from LAL concerning this mod. The one thing you have to do is actually starting the game by activating the Mara statue and not calling SS++ from the prison cell. Some things won't start properly otherwise.

If you want normal, non-devious followers, there's an option in the MCM to "make all NPCs non devious". I have no idea how this would affect the Simple Slavery outcome.

Make all NPCs non devious? Effectively disabling the mod? So I assume I would manually enable one NPC, but since you don't know how it would effect Simple slavery I take it that's not how the mod is intended to work?

What im looking for is a slavery mod like PSE for 2006 Oblivion where im dragged around on a leash. I want a sandbox slave master for when I run out of hand crafted slavery quests. IDK if you could do a Devious followers lite or Redux version called "devious slave masters" where you can quest normally with your main companions. But when you get sold in the Simple slavery auction you get a slave master that drags you around, pimps you out and such. Use a "devious followers" dummy esp so Simple slavery recognizes it so you don't have to update to a new SS++.

Alot of existing mods are broken or just suck and are laggy, or have archeon dependencies and Archeon never works with sexlab for me.

I guess you're supposed to pick the one you want. As a slave you're spending quite a lot of time with your owner, and if you hate them, playing is no fun.

Ah, in that case you want Submissive Lola - actively maintained, Hexbolt listens to feedback, ideas and bug reports. It's designed to not hamper a normal playthrough, but remind you from time to time that you're a slave. Very adjustable to your liking via MCM, it's been a staple in my modlist ever since I discovered the devious side of Skyrim.

You can update SS++ anytime midgame, and of course SubLola is a possible outcome.

I want it to hamper a normal playthrough, but only as a death alternative punishment through simple slavery.

Like I said PSE for 2006 Oblivion is what I want but Skyrim doesn't seem to have anything like it. A few mods try and implement some features but they are often a broken, laggy, complicated mess, and still manage to not provide the heroine on a proper leash.

But I will try Lola

@Lozeak, I have a question about the alternate start: are all potential DF's supposed to be part of the AltStart faction? Or is it only one at a time?

I'm using EFF, I enabled the 'alternate start' feature, and 2 of my followers are enabled as potential DF masters. When I check their factions in console only one has this added faction. I just want to make sure that this is correct.

Thank you.
