Might be worth a look? That said, my game runs fine with about 2150 As for the others, in setting up a new game, initially I got CTDs afterr running FNIS on the updated DD mods, so I took out all my SLAL packs and got down from about 12000 to 6500, and am now adding the further mods I want, and then will add back the SLAL packs until it breaks be nice if they listed how many animations are in each DDi choice, then people can kind of figure out how many other mods to remove to make room.

Exactly the same situation i'm in, reverting back to old dd now aswell sadly
Thelargir Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 I'm having the same problem with CTD's. Have been going through my modlist, and deactivating a few mods at a time, to locate the problem by way of elimination, and this new version is the only mod that causes the CTD's. Will wait for a fix, in the meantime, I'll continue using 3.0
Kimy Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 We had a discussion about this in the dev thread, when we first noticed a number of people having animation loads so close to breaking point that installing DD 4.1 tipped it over. In the end, that's not avoidable in a scenario where there are finite resources available for modders to use, but modders keep using more and more of them, and make more and more mods. People will have to make choices. Like not installing every single SLAL pack just because it's available. Or installing mods that essentially do the same thing (like OSex plus SexLab), Or frameworks that do the same thing (DD4 plus ZAP 8). Or mods that add a little bit of fluff but need a lot of animation slots. LL modding traditionally didn't make people choose. There were not many SL animations available for the longest time. There were not that many naughty mods overall. But outsides of LL, people always had to choose what to install - maybe Nexus users are just more used to the idea than we are, because it's immediately obvious that you can't install everything on Nexus in the same load order. These times are over - and that's a GOOD thing. People have a choice now. They can pick from a lot of different SLAL packs made for different tastes. They can pick from a large inventory of mods, and even pick from frameworks that do the same thing, just different (e.g. DD4 or ZAP 8 ). But no, you can't just drop them all in the same load order and expect things to work. These times are over, too. And people need to accept that. I will be open - we're not quite done adding animations to DD. People ask for more bound sex animations that work with our devices - and we will deliver them. People ask for more devices, and some of them will need more AA. Some devices don't yet have struggle animations, and we will make these, too. We are very aware of animation slots being finite, and we're not going to hog so many resources that we're strangulating the air out of other popular mods people want to use. But as I said in the dev thread - the DD family of mods provides so many hours of content that it amounts to the next best thing to a total conversion of Skyrim, just that the vanilla content is still playable, too. It's not reasonable to expect the framework supporting such a tremendous amount of content to leave only a tiny engine footprint. If people want to revert to DD 4.0 because they don't want to let go of all these SLAL packs, and fluff mods, and whatnot, that's fine. But we're not going to offer or support older DD versions, and the DD family of mods will likely move on and use the new features in 4.1 and the versions to come. We still have a lot of ideas for great features to add to DD. People can either make room for DD in their load orders, or install something else. It's what they already do, except DD has grown a little, so it needs a bit more room than before. 6
CGi Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 13 minutes ago, Kimy said: Words On point. As additional information: The amount of max. animations a game takes is variable and depending on a still unknown factor. For me it fluctuates between 10400 and 11800, depending on the animations i use. So a little bit of trial & error is needed to get things working.

And there seem to be other things, that have an influence on the number of anims that can be loaded, far away from the anims themself.
grundor67 Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 Just throwing this out there. For those having CTD issues, I had the same thing when I first installed the updates and ran FNIS. The thing I noticed though was that FNIS didn't pick up on about 600 anims the first run through (only registered 9464 anims). Initially I thought I had botched the install of the DDi, DDa and DDx so I uninstalled and immediately reinstalled each, ran LOOT then ran FNIS again. The second time around FNIS showed a little over 10100 anims registered. I am using NMM and LOOT as well as FNIS (xxl version). I've not had anymore CTD's since. Just for the record, I have nearly 600 mods installed with 246 plugins being used. Also of note, I use Zaz animation pack 8.0 with CBBE HDT and uninstalled 7.0. Additionally, I ran a batch build with Bodyslide studio just to make sure all the new meshes played well with my body shape. (I'm sure that had no bearing on the CTD issue but I wanted to cover all my bases.) Hope this helps. 1

Reesewow Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 Just incase it helps some of those with CTD due to animation overload issue, I thought I'd post my experience and technique I used to troubleshoot this and get working again with minimum disturbance to my load order. First install - straight upgrade of DD from 4.0 -> 4.1 with my old load order and got CTDs. My FNIS output was: Alternate Animation mods: 6 sets: 61 total groups: 309 added file slots: 2330 alternate files: 1251 10748 animations for 49 mods (character) 3901 animations for 13 mods and 43 creatures First attempt to reduce my animation load - I removed Display Model 2 (I don't actually find I use it) and one SLAL pack I don't actively use which was Nazonootoko's Tropical Island SLAL pack. The CTD was still occuring. Resulting FNIS output was: Alternate Animation mods: 6 sets: 61 total groups: 309 added file slots: 2330 alternate files: 1251 10120 animations for 44 mods (character) 3901 animations for 13 mods and 43 creatures Second step to reducing my animation load - I downgraded from ZAP 8 to ZAP 7, as I currently am not running a mod that requires 8. Success! I can again load my saves and start new games just fine, and have no serious issues with my game so far. FNIS output was: Alternate Animation mods: 6 sets: 61 total groups: 309 added file slots: 2330 alternate files: 1251 9284 animations for 44 mods (character) 3901 animations for 13 mods and 43 creatures Basically, my suggestion for those that find they need to make decisions on what to keep installed is to look at the mods you have currently, and see if you have things that add a lot of animations that you do not use often or do not need. Some of these mods have a huge animation footprint even when you do not realize it. One thing that helped me see what mods may have large animation files was simply to look in my Meshes\actors\character\behaviors folder and sort by file size. This was done using NMM - I imagine MO users may have an easier time finding a balance by starting with the minimum "required" mods and adding animations a few at a time until you hit CTDs again. 3
ragnam Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 so is there a total animation count for each setting when you install DDi, like is it 18 animations or is it like 900 animations. might give people an idea how many mods they have to uninstall for this one mod. just by saying ball park "a lot of new animations in this release", is kind of hard to judge. I might be able to do with dance animations and music and maybe remove OSEX but would have to patch those other mods to run without it or even ZAZ considering I remove a few extra anmations and the DDI mod itself and fnis was as low as this and did not work All Anim Lists scanned. Kimy Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 I would go one step further and suggest not to add animations until stuff starts to break left and right. Think hard about what mods and animations you REALLY want and install these and these only. If you have installed everything you REALLY need and it works - good for you. Go play the game and have fun. There no need to fill up the glass until it spills. Mods will still grow, and you will want to have breathing room for when that happens. Otherwise people will have to go through the same routine every single time a mod is going add a few animations. Since we're at it.... In all honesty, people will probably have to get used to the idea that they can use -either- DD or ZAP 8, too. Both frameworks continue to grow and both contain a substantial number of animations. I am mentioning this because I am seeing mods appearing that set dependencies on BOTH, and I am not sure if that will be sustainable for long. DD and ZAP 8 are frameworks that offer very similar functionality, but each needs a certain amount of resources to function. At the current pace of development, I cannot see how users are supposed to run both in the same load order in the future, so modders should be aware of this when setting dependencies. I guess now is as good a time as any to say this, but I advise -against- developing mods using resources from -both- DD and ZAP 8, and I will quote this post if I am getting blamed for related problems modders will run into later on. At least don't blame me in a year or two when when ZAP 11 and DD 6 can't exist in the same load order anymore without making people's game CTD all the time, and that's VERY likely to happen. Developers of DD mods with legacy dependencies on ZAP are advised to stick to ZAP 7 for the time being. 2

Lute Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 Hey all, I'm having trouble finding the changelog for 4.0 (not 4.1) so I'm posting here. I haven't touched my game since a year ago, and just updated my DD mods to 4.1. I had my own custom implementation of DD wrist cuffs as an armbinder using, iirc, offsetboundstanding.hkx (or whatever ZAP used for its wrist cuffs animations) under 3.3b. After this update, they've now been using Feuertin's armbinder animations. While they're lovely, they don't really fit the cuffs, so I'm trying to figure how I can bring them back after being a year out of the scene. I would really appreciate any help on this! On another note, the bound animations seem to break more easily than they used to in 3.3b. NPCs lose their bound animations after a while and just revert back to regular idles. Is there a script that still scans for this or was it dropped in favor of lighter games?

The only abnormality I noticed was the animations occasionally breaking-- was that because I needed a new game? As for my old wrist animations though, is there any way for me to use those offsets again?
