TheMadHatter Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I need some help guys. I got the latest Mod Organizer running and my friend pretty much set up all of my mods because he had everything properly configed and could just copy and paste the lot somewhere so I haven't the foggiest what the actually did, all I did was buy the game and install it really lol but now I'm trying to set up FNIS so I can use the plugins on here as well but it's turning into an epic fail, I got it to install both Spells and Behavior but not the creature pack and now that I reverted back it doesn't install anything but behavior so *sigh*. So, what I do is the following: I Download the files from Nexus starting with FNIS Behavior V5_2 which opens up a window saying "new mod" with name "Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS" a drop down showing "Data" and "FNIS Behavior" checked and then a big red error message saying "No game data on top level". So I ignore that and hit OK. I get a menu saying "The mod was propably not set up correctly blablabla" I hit OK again because it should be complete, it then says the mod seems to be installed already and asks me to merge, replace, rename or cancel. I hit replace and it seems to install it succesfully so I move on to Spells. Same window with the red text and the new mod with the same name "Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNS" so I hit OK again. Same "The mod was propably not set up correctly blabla" so I ignore again and it says mod exists again (which could be possible since I've been fooling around with this for hours already) something in the original install guide said not to overwrite so I merge the files. Same thing happens with the Creatures pack and I follow the same steps as with Spells. Installed FNIS Sexy Move aswell and, ofcourse, the SexLabs Framework. Everything but the Framework shows up greyed out and Italic in my Mod manager but I'm able to check both FNIS Sexy Move and Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNS so I continue anyway. All of the installed packs are in my mod dir under "Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNS". Afterwards I go to the mods dir and to my Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS\FNIS Behavior 5.2\Data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users (since that's the only GenerateFNIS_for_Users dir with an exe in it) I run the program and select the Skeleton arm thing as well (read somewhere that it's used so might as well run that right away) and I hit Update FNIS Behavior. The following thing rolls out: >>Warning: Bad installation. Generator not run from a Skyrim installation directory.<<FNIS Behavior V5.2 24-1-2015 15:33:05Skyrim: ??.?? -Generator: C: \Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Mods\Mod Organizer\mods\Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS\FNIS Behavior 5.2\Data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exeSkeleton female: Default (99 bones) male: Default (99 bones)Patch: "SKELETON Arm Fix"Reading FNIS V5.2 ...Reading FNISBase V5.2 ...All Anim Lists scanned. Generating Behavior Files ...Creature Pack not installed 129 animations for 2 mods successfully included (character) 1 Warning(s). So I asked my friend why it's erroring out but he told me it shouldn't matter, that's just because he dumped his entire mod directory there instead of the normal dir (whichever that may be), it obviously does pick up on something but not the Spells nor Creature pack or Sexy move or whatever.... and Sexlabs obviously doesn't work either. Someone, please help, I seriously have no ideaaaa how to get this to work... It's most likely something simple but i have no idea.
Rayblue Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 The problem with installing games in the Programs (x86) folder is that ironically the folder has more restrictions for 32-bit programs than you would run the game (and Steam) from a different drive. -------- Heads up, NMM 0.6a is released for testing. I wish them good luck.
TheMadHatter Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Well, I can move the mod dir around because my friend made his mod list "mobile" or whatever. It doesn't change anything if I change dirs. It still does all the above . PS. I knew about the Program files thing, I'm usually just too lazy to change dirs lol. I don't really get why software doesn't automatically install in a dir called Games or whatever (like some games do). Program Files is so 90's haha. Tried following this tutorial on installing FNiS but I fail at running the program and just get >>Warning: Bad installation. Generator not run from a Skyrim installation directory.<< FNIS Behavior V5.2 24-1-2015 22:29:54 Skyrim: ??.?? - Generator: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Mods\Mod Organizer\mods\Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe Skeleton female: Default (99 bones) male: Default (99 bones) Patch: "SKELETON Arm Fix" Reading FNIS V5.2 ... Reading FNISBase V5.2 ... All Anim Lists scanned. Generating Behavior Files ... Creature Pack not installed 129 animations for 2 mods successfully included (character) 1 Warning(s). Well actually, it fails at getting FNiS to run through MO already, I did exactly what the dude in the video tells you to but get a dot net error when trying to run the program through MO. It starts just fine running it manually so god knows what causes that... I've seriously been trying to get this to work since about 3 hours before my first post on this, still going...
AwfulArchdemon Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Why is it not in a Steam folder?
Rayblue Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Knowing about Fores' burning stance against anything NOT installed in Steam...
VATROU Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 So I'm having trouble with MO. It won't find the server to download mods. So while I can add mods from file just fine, it won't download with manager. I have auto log in. And associate with download active, I think. I don't think the links do anything, they just came with the copy paste. I'm sure whatever it is, was my fault. And yes the trouble happens with both Skyrim and NV. So this isn't a single issue. 00:34:34 [D] Download started00:34:34 [D] download requested: nxm://FalloutNV/mods/39651/files/100001746000:34:34 [D] add nxm download: nxm://FalloutNV/mods/39651/files/100001746000:34:35 [C] request (http://nmm.nexusmods...60/?game_id=130) error: Error downloading http://nmm.nexusmods...60/?game_id=130 - server replied: Not Found00:34:35 [W] request failed: Error downloading http://nmm.nexusmods...e_id=130-serverreplied: Not Found Never Mind. RitualClarity Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Never Mind. Fixed it. Needed to update NMM to latest version in the settings tab. Yep... Sometimes the NMM versions change and MO cannot work with the older version as Nexus won't accept the input anymore. There is a panel where you can change the NMM download version number and get it to work if needed in the future. Just an FYI. Had to do that with an older version before a new update in the past.
AwfulArchdemon Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 Update 1.2.18Again a bugfix release.Update 1.2.17This is a pure bugfix release, mostly dealing with problems new from 1.2.15 and 1.2.16Updates 1.2.15 and now 1.2.16 have been released! Both were mostly bugfix releases but there are a few things I'd like to point out:a- TranslationsThe move to transifex for the translations has given the translation effort a huge boost. There are now over 50 people contributing to translations to 16 languages. There is one unfortunate consequence of the move I realized only now preparing for the update: There is no way (at least not obvious to me) to see who is contributing how much to the translations. This of course makes it hard to give proper credit so let me take this opportunity to give a huge thumbs up to all translators!b- The external fomod installer (NCC) is now aware of other installed mods. This wouldn't have happened without Reunion so thank you mate!c- This version should again run on Windows XP without error messages. Please note however that supporting xp is becoming increasingly tedious as library devs stop providing xp-compatible variants and I've long abandoned my XP Test machine. As a consequence, in the not so distant future (version 1.3.x and up) I will stop supporting it.
RebelInfernal Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 1.2.17 broke mod loading for me, the game would load but no mods were active. Now I'm scared to update to 1.2.18, are there any issues with it?
NoxTM Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Does anybody know how to install Dance Synchronizator with MO? Would like to use it with my "Fun Profile"...
AwfulArchdemon Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 1.2.17 broke mod loading for me, the game would load but no mods were active. Now I'm scared to update to 1.2.18, are there any issues with it? Not sure yet. Too new. Tbh, you're the only one who's had that issue with 1.2.7. I suspect there was an outside issue affecting your last MO. Give the new one a shot. Worst case scenario: put the other one back, and move the profiles and mod folders back. Does anybody know how to install Dance Synchronizator with MO? Would like to use it with my "Fun Profile"... All I can say, since it's new, is try to add the DS installer as an executable and run with MO. The author in the video chose the Skyrim folder as it's installation folder. I can't tell just by looking if it needs to put info into the Skyrim folder or the data folder. If it's installing to the Skyrim folder, it may be manual only. If it adds to the Skyrim folder, you may want to contact the author and remind him everyone uses MO now, and no one wants to install things right to their game's Data folder. If it adds to Data's folders, it'll be fine. If you use FNIS, I wouldn't wanna be you. It alters the most important file FNIS checks. Read the special instructions for FNIS users: Warning!!! If you're using FNIS, every times you'll use FNIS for Users, you'll have to reinstall Dance Synchronizator by DS Installer, at the other case FNIS will delete all required strings from defaultmale.hkx and defaultfemale.hkx files. Might be a pain after a while. Give it a shot with MO. I have no want for dances, so I won't be testing it, but if you get some kind of error, lemme know what is, and I'll see what can be done. MO won't install anything to the data folder, so it's a *relatively safe test. *However: It may change strings from another mod that uses them, like how BS replaces mod files. Speculation, but educated speculation, nonetheless. If you see nothing in the Overwrite folder, that's likely what happened. If you know what mod that would be, it's all good. It's really about knowing which mods use Strings (could be about a million mods). Whatever is installed last, that uses Strings, might have it's files overwritten. You'd need to reinstall that mod to get it's original Strings back, but it's not much of a problem, since these are only for adding different languages to written dialogue. Maybe it doesn't, though. I know nothing of this author's installer. Only way to find out is to try. Backup your mods first for safety. Nothing to lose then.
Storms of Superior Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 1.2.17 broke mod loading for me, the game would load but no mods were active. Now I'm scared to update to 1.2.18, are there any issues with it? When I tried to update to 1.2.17 or whatever, my mods were missing. After investigating, I found the new version installed in a separate set of folders in my main MO folder, with the old version still installed in the same folder. I just fired the updated version, I'll be waiting for that to be resolved. Sorry it took so long for this feedback, but Windows says my video something or other is on the fritz. I haven't played Skyrim in a while, and I'm now thinking that my instability issues are connected to the video error I recieved. Unfortunately, I will have to replace the entire computer because it's a notebook (it had powerful graphics capabilities when I bought it, but not so much any more), and I don't have any skills with notebooks or laptops.
AwfulArchdemon Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 Neither do I. I have a laptop, but I've done nothing with it except type notes in school. I can't fathom playing Skyrim on it. My Alienware desktop is hooked up to my 55" 1080p HD TV. I would lose my mind on a laptop or (especially) notebook. Using MO with Skyrim, and the whole thing, on a laptop/notebook? No way. I may get a new comp soon. It's gonna be NASA. If it can't fly me to the Moon...I need a better comp. One that takes my phone calls, and drives me places in my car, and cooks me breakfast. About MO, the newest is 1.2.8. If this is about 1.2.7, you could give the new one a try, but you may get similar issues if your comp's on the fritz. And what's this about a different file path for your mods? You may have something wrong in your modorganizer.ini, for some reason. If it's installing mods somewhere else, that's all I can think, aside from your video error (would like to know what the error says). Give the new one a try. It's worth a shot.

I'll give it a shot in the next few days. I have a lot going on right now, and I've been eyeballing g the Alienware Area 51 model. I also want 4 textues, ENBs, massive NPC mods, as well as the option to marry it.
AwfulArchdemon Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 I don't know dude, that Alienware is even smaller than my X51. I had to downgrade my Video Card simply because the comp was too small for a GTX 660, and it fried. Had to go 650, since it was a little smaller, and had a bigger fan (go figure). You may not be able to fit a top-end VC into that tiny little comp. Edit: Of course you could just take it apart and use whatever you want, but then...why go with an Alienware? Alienware goes for stylish lookis, so it needs to e disassembled to fit a new VC, might as well build something from scratch, from all the best parts and such, even though that gets expensive. However, an Alienware gets expensive too. Mine was $1,000+.

AwfulArchdemon Posted January 26, 2015 Author Posted January 26, 2015 Whoops! You ninja'd me. Was trying to edit to say...what you just said.
AwfulArchdemon Posted January 27, 2015 Author Posted January 27, 2015 Tested the new version. So far, no problems with orders or profiles, executables are executing, it takes me to Nexus...although it didn't sign me in (anyone verify?), and FNIS is being good.
Quisling Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Once I fixed the clearly-MO's-fault of me not typing my username properly it's been logging into Nexus perfectly for me.

I just thought, am I right in thinking that old versions of MO have trouble with executables for some reason? That might explain why ASIS broke for me if it is right :/
AwfulArchdemon Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 There were a couple versions that needed fixes, and a fix, or a new version of MO was always released later that day.
RebelInfernal Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 So I just got a chance to update MO from 1.1.6 or whatever it was, to 1.1.8. Still doesn't work loading mods with it. Haven't got a clue why. I saw the post about it just installed the new version to a different directory, but that doesn't seem to be the case for me. Currently copying my 1.1.6 backup back into place, which takes about an hour. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEE. BEFORE I DESTROY MY COMPUTER IN A FIT OF RAGE. Seriously though. Please help.

Please help. 1.2.16 works for you, but 1.2.18 doesn't? If your game and MO are not in PF (x86), and you simply unzipped MO and ran it, and the programs you want MO to load are working fine outside of MO, and you're using Windows 7 (not a requirement, but a perfect OS to have), and 1.2.16 works, and you're not experiencing any other errors with your comp, then I don't know what the hell's wrong. It's not MO...not if everyone seems to be running it without issues. I tested many limits with the new one, more so than many other versions, and I have no problems, aside from mods being grouped in with other mods, inside of a mod that wants to act as it's in-MO storage. My example: All SL mods are sub-categorized with my MK 9 Jade armor mod (lfagged as a Quest mod, for unknown reasons). Totally bizarre place for them to go. One thing I wish MO would not do (not the first time). Here's hoping there's nothing wrong with your computer. I know this: MO should never store any files in your Skyrim folder, or your Data folder. It wasn't programmed to do that. In fact, it was programmed to do the opposite. I'm most confused by the fact that 1.2.16 is working for you...

All I did was use the built in upgrade button in MO and suddenly mods stopped loading in game, although MO still shows them as activated and doesn't find any missing esps in my saves, but when I run the game the Beth logo plays, which it shouldn't for me, and all of my mods are missing from the game, which causes CTD on some save games, I assume because of all the missing scripts. I did think after turning off my computer to try a fresh install of MO on the latest version and just redownload everything I use and see if that works then. On a side note, is there any way to do that without redownloading all of my mods, some of which are really big files? Where should MO install? I currently have it inside Documents/Steamgames/SteamApps/Mod Organiser/Mod Organiser. I had a quick look at the file path and I don't think it changed after updating.
AwfulArchdemon Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 Should 1.2.16 be broken by now then? No. I meant if 1.2.16 works, so too should 1.2.18 All I did was use the built in upgrade button in MO and suddenly mods stopped loading in game, although MO still shows them as activated and doesn't find any missing esps in my saves, but when I run the game the Beth logo plays, which it shouldn't for me, and all of my mods are missing from the game, which causes CTD on some save games, I assume because of all the missing scripts. Perhaps the upgrade button has a bug I did think after turning off my computer to try a fresh install of MO on the latest version and just redownload everything I use and see if that works then. On a side note, is there any way to do that without redownloading all of my mods, some of which are really big files? I would also recommend a fresh MO installation. Best way? Well, since MO is acting up, and not seeing your mods, I'd say look at you modlist.txt and loadorder.txt. If they seem to be showing the correct info, rename the mods foler to mods-old, and rename the profiles folder to profiles-old, and delete everything in the MO folder except those renamed folders, then unzip MO to the folder your MO is in. It will say the ModOrganizer folder already exists and ask if you wanna merge. Say yes. Then, the new version will have no reason not to work. Run MO, and turn it off. Rename the mods folder and profiles folder to what they were before (delete '-old'), and run MO again. Everything should work fine then. Where should MO install? I currently have it inside Documents/Steamgames/SteamApps/Mod Organiser/Mod Organiser. I had a quick look at the file path and I don't think it changed after updating. Do you use a SSD, or an HDD? If HDD, I recommend simply installing MO to the Skyrim game folder. Mine's in C:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\. If SSD, anywhere outside of Program Files folders is fine. In fact, I'd say use another drive to install MO to if using a SSD, since a SSD can be worn down far quicker than a HDD. Personally, I always install a new MO by moving mods and profiles out, deleting the old MO, installing the new MO, moving the folders back, and running with success. This can take a while if you use an insane amount of mods, so doing it the way I described above is your quickest way. You won't even need to move the mods or profiles folders out. I only recommended renaming those folders as a safety measure. It's not necessary unless you plan to run MO with no mods, just to get it up and running on it's own real quick. This is my suggestion this time.
