RebelInfernal Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I use an HDD, so I'll try the new install in the games folder. When you say C\Steam do you mean inside program files? Because the drive game folder only has MO and NMM files? I will try the reinstall later and edit this Edit: I installed the new MO into the Skyrim folder and installed SKSE and No Bethesda Intro, the NBI worked, so I think it's fixed. Just copying my mods backup into the new MO folder now. Thanks for your help AwfulArchdemon

On a side note, I did have an issue with the ASIS patcher not working because it said it was missing the Skyrim and Update esms. Fixing MO has also fixed this, so I should probably prepare to get utterly murdered on my next game
RitualClarity Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Beats getting utterly murdered at the local bar...due to the complete frustration on managing and modding Skyrim

NoxTM Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Is there an option for auto backup of the load order everytime you close MO? It already happend a couple of times that MO completely messed up my load order. Which means.. i start up MO like normal, but all my plugins are disabled and sorted alphabetically. Freaking annoying..
AwfulArchdemon Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 Is there an option for auto backup of the load order everytime you close MO? It already happend a couple of times that MO completely messed up my load order. Which means.. i start up MO like normal, but all my plugins are disabled and sorted alphabetically. Freaking annoying.. Under the Run and Shortcut tab on the right, and next to (to the right of) your profile name at the top, there is an option to create a backup of your mods. Next to it there is a restore option. Is this the only version that does that to you? I would just make copies of your loadorder.txt and modlist.txt when switching to new versions. I thought maybe I could blame it on shutting MO down before mods are loaded, or switching profiles too fast, or just general messing with MO, but I just ran it through the ringer, and MO is still totally fine. Not sure how yours got messed up. Maybe reinstall MO? It should be working with no issues. I kicked MO's ass, and installed too many mods, and used the mouse wheel to switch profiles over and over, and shut MO down long before it loaded mods, and just kicked it's ass, but I failed to screw it up. (oh, darn) Is it loading the profile you used last? (not switching to default and making it look as if mods were unticked)
NoxTM Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Yeah.. i know about these 2 buttons. But my brain is like really bad remembering stuff, so i hoped there would be an option somewhere for auto backup. -- I know that shutting down MO before it loads the loadorder.txt etc. will mess up everything. I made this mistake once and since then i always wait. (why does it even do that? does it delete the loadorder.txt/modlist.txt or what? And if yes, why?) I had this since ever.. i mean.. since i started to use MO. And yes, it's loading the profile i used last. It doesn't happen often or after i do something specific.. it's more random. Like for example. MO does close when i start skyrim ofc, then i play for a few hours, close skyrim.. and the next time i open up MO, everything is messed up. Anyway.. just wanted to know if there is an auto backup option. Since there is none.. i just gonna make a big sticky note and hope that i don't forget to look at the sticky note ^^
RebelInfernal Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 In my MO log at the bottom of the screen, I'm getting errors for the localisation files for ... _en-GB not being found, and there seems to be one for every plugin from the settings tab. However everything seems to be working fine, so is this an issue?
Carida Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Small question,Because I did not see the answer anywhere else. I've been using MO version 1.1.1 for a very long time, since it works fine for me. But recently I have wanted to upgrade, how does one go about doing so whilst keeping their installed mods? Thank you for any assistance,-C EDIT: Never mind, Found this: http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer_Advanced#Updating_Mod_Organizer And figured it out -C

There's something interfering. Would you mind going to PM? I'd like to gather some info and do my usual research. Even though it is terribly unlikely every version ever has this bug, I'd still like to point out what it really is. Could help someone else with that issue. You're not the first to report it, but it's more severe in your case, and it's extremely rare in general. I'd like the issue to be nonexistent. If so, how do you install; Upgrade? Full Version? Manually take out the old MO and add the new one? When installing MO, do you use the installer? If you're getting English text fine, then the error is false, but still should not be there. It was reported before, but his case was an issue where MO wouldn't let him see English at all. I believe his issue went POOF, and vanished. This was solved once by simply reinstalling MO (manually). Could it be that simple?

AwfulArchdemon Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 ^ Forego the installer and try to reinstall manually (extract the zip). Many people have reported issues, and many have one thing in common; they used the installer. I'm not saying the installer simply doesn't work, but I am saying some have had problems, and manually installing (by extracting the loose files) has sometimes solved it.
DoctaSax Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 So... what causes a mod-added BSA to get greyed out in my archives tab? Working on my TTW install a bit (that's FNV for those who don't know what that is), and TTW's own BSA gets that treatment if I let MO handle BSAs, which I prefer. The ones from FO3 & its DLCs don't. Don't know why the difference. Switched to 18 from 14 yesterday; I can't recall it getting greyed out under 14. I also had some trouble sorting TTW's BSAs in the archives tab to mirror the plugin order - they kept jumping back in alphabetical order (!) and TTW's greyed out one occasionally jumped to the top of them, so I needed to make mod folders for FO3, the DLCs and TTW's own and sort them in the mods tab that way.
RitualClarity Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 That shouldn't be happening. I never had that happen before. It is strange. Perhaps roll back to a previous version and see if that helps .. Might be a bug from 18 that needs some ironing out before use. I have been staying about a version or so behind until it has been out for awhile. I let others "beta test" MO for me.. I was thinking of giving ttw a run with MO sometime soon. Now I will have to stay or return to 14 to be sure. edit: I am attempting to install MO in 18 but the installer is just sitting there right now. Nevermind. I was confused on a function of MO. See my next post. I did have a time trying to install it with the fmod ended up just creating a folder in MO to use and made the custom edits, basically manual instructions for installation except not in the actual game..
RitualClarity Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 OH my... MO is AWESOME.. I finally found/figured out how to add my own custom categories to the categories list.. . I know what I am going to be doing the next couple of days..

I am getting the same with TWW's own BSA. Nothing else. The BSAs are managed by either the left or right pane. Managed BSAs are arranged according to the left side pane and unmanaged is arranged by theright side or load order side of the pane. So Unless I miss understood it you don't rearrange them at all in the Archive. you only click them on or off.

The problem there was obviously that I added the entire TTW as one mod, with all the BSAs in the same folder. Separating them over several ones does the trick though. Still, I wonder about the green bit.
RitualClarity Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I don't know perhaps something was added to that BSA that causes the manager to tread it differently? Mo isn't exactly supported but it is accepted with TTW. You did the manual install part correct? That is create a folder in the mods section then make the changes to the Fallout preference .ini.?
DarkEther Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I tried to search my way through the 122 pages of this thread, but couldn't find it after a reasonable search. Is there a guide to helping install fomod files using MO? I'm trying Fallout NV and wanting to add the sexout file. I get the file to appear in the Downloads list fine, but when I double-click to install, after a bit I get a failed error "The given path's format is not supported". I'm hopeful there's a relatively easy way to handle this and I don't have to try to partly install using FOMM or something like that.
DoctaSax Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 You did the manual install part correct? That is create a folder in the mods section then make the changes to the Fallout preference .ini.? Yeah, I'm not gonna keep fomods that size around. I do the ini tweaks with the ini options in the mod file, shouldn't make a difference as none of them have anything to do with file loading. At first I thought maybe I hit a BSA max limit but I can add more, that aren't affected.
AwfulArchdemon Posted February 18, 2015 Author Posted February 18, 2015 @Doc: Well, 2 fomod issues in a row suggests a bug, since it would be odd if TTW was the only troublemaker (all of a sudden). Perhaps the TTW author knows more about it? I'd find out if he uses MO. That's becoming important information these days. Does the mod's bsa have a matching plugin? MO will load the bsa for sure if it does. @DarkEther: It may be a 'code whoops'. Possibly MO is returning a broken object; which means (for those interested) when MO is trying convert an object to a string, it doesn't return a valid path. It could also be a typo, a missed key, or an unsupported character (details). Would explain the error right away. In the meantime, I'm gonna go check on something myself. NMM has had the same issue with something else. Tannin was using a portion of NMM's code to make MO originally, or at least basing MO on a portion of NMM's code. If he still does (to keep compatibility between NMM and MO), NMM could be to blame. (STD) It may just be that fomod. I say that knowing Docta got a fomod issue too, but it's a different issue (still 2 fomod issues though). His at least installed. Perhaps unpack the fomod with FOMM and just add the files to a folder, and install it as a mod then. An extra step, but at least it should work then, it only needs to happen once, and this should only be a temporary issue, until Tannin makes a fix, or we discover there is some kind of problem with those particular fomods. I need to contact Tannin before I say something wrong here. This could be untrue, and it could be just a typo or something in the code, but it's mighty coincidental that NMM had the issue too lately... It could also be just the Downloads folder, and not being able to install fomods from there (stranger things have happened), but I'd find that to be the least likely scenario. Of course you could try it with the last version, also. If it works then, it's a MO bug. In the meantime, report it to the Issue tracker (unless it's already there). No big deal though, since I need to talk to him anyway, and will be mentioning this. Still... @RC: You look...different. You lose weight? Shave "against the grain" today? Maybe you hit the gym? Can't quite put my finger on it... @LoversLab: If anyone else fails to install a fomod to MO (especially one for FNV), let me know.

The Doc's issue seems to be related to C# scripted FMOD installers not the XML based installers. I had some problems with others. That and size. Regular XML or smaller FMODs seem to work. Unfortunately I can't use the newest FOMM as it is now apparently 64bit . So I can't use it to install these buggers. I am at an impasse . I am currently basically extracting them and placing them wholesale into the mods folder no installation being done by MO. Hope that don't harm something else. This will work for some but Hud mods and such are too complex to do manually for me. AS for the new look.. Work has been harsh. My quotas for cattle mutilation, alien abductions, and probing has been greatly increased. You know with all the cutbacks and such.
DoctaSax Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Actually, I didn't let the TTW installer create fomods, just kept it all as loose files that I parked in my MO mod folder; doesn't have anything to do with fomods. There's just this one BSA that's treated differently from the others.
