thingwhatsqueaks Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Death parade is a good one that has come out recently Indeed. Death Parade is one of IMO the best shows to come out in the last few years. Good characters and pacing and enough possibilities that they could probably continue the series if they wanted to. I started watching gate. I think I saw 5 episodes but it was a bit too naive for me. Does it get better ? Define better. I watched the entire first season of this show and have peaced out on the second season if that tells you anything. I don't really remember what's going on specifically in ep. 05 because the entire thing kind of blurs together for me. Well from your writing it does not sound like a very memorable series lol. Nothing special was going on really, they met this fan service girl in goth? alfit with the big weapon and brought her and a few others back to base. I just got annoyed from the hole thing. They let her roam around there freely with her weapon, it just seemed so unrealistic to me and nothing really interesting happened. I think I will skip It's sort of memorable in terms of how weirdly nationalistic it is. So I guess there's that. The light novel (source material) that Wight Zombi referenced is apparently even more so.
Ernest Lemmingway Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 If I had the courage to sort through a collection spanning 32 years (two thirds of which was before anime' became more than a niche thing in the States) I might have more. As is I can only barely remember what I've seen and what I avoid. Pretty much any show made in America I tend to avoid, unless it was done by indies that actually get anime', most monster collector shows (I was into Pokémon back in the days of Red and Blue, but it got too hard to keep up), and most "costumed fighter" shows as well since that trope's been done to death. Recently I started watching Bleach on Netflix, which is okay but not really my thing. I did rather enjoy Rosario + Vampire in that guilty way guys watch rom-coms. The Slayers (Lisa Ortiz as the voice of Lina Inverse ) still ranks among the top, second only to Bubblegum Crisis (and Crash and A.D. Police Files). Neon Genesis Evangelion is almost mandatory since it's such a classic, as is Magical Knight Rayearth. I could turn up dozens more if I looked at the shelves holding my collection but everything's packed so tight it's a house of cards.
Greatperson11 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 There's a new Macross series arriving this Spring, called Macross Delta. I just saw the pre-air episode out of curiosity. Think I'll pass on the rest of it if it's gonna stick with that hideous pop idol theme. It wouldn't be a Macross Anime if it didn't. Well, I think they took it a bit too far this time. On another note: second cour of Gate - Jietai begins next week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrwXsOTWUeU Ah GATE. Don't know why I enjoy it so much, but that Rory. Damn.
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I just got done watching the latest Garo and I found a comment made about the gold and Silver Knights by the Watchdog trio quite funny not to mention Ironic. "The Gold is Loyal and the Silver is feral." Yeah He's loyal for now but I bet if they gave him an order like kill Seimei they'd find out real fast how fragile that loyalty of his is.
Nasseliten Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Anyone watch Kuruko no basket here? I was never much of basket fan but I think it's great. Sad it's finished now
Nasseliten Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Oh yes and just for kicks! : (LOL) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNX5sEC0-qc
NotAddictedJustHorny Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Anyone watch Kuruko no basket here? I was never much of basket fan but I think it's great. Sad it's finished now I watched it a couple months ago, aswell as the latest OVA recently. Great anime, manages to make me interested in sports, somewhat. Just finished my guilty pleasure, Shomin sample, and right now I'm watching Mekakucity actors and will follow that up with another 7-8 anime I have planned to watch. Not enough hours in a day.. Actually, probably got another 2-5 more to add to that list.

Lotharin1221 Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Indeed, this sounds fun AND informative, my top three favorite anime/manga off the top of my head are, Ranma 1/2, Naruto+Shippuden, and Sailor Moon.
Kpnut Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 An anime thread, count me in Indeed, this sounds fun AND informative, my top three favorite anime/manga off the top of my head are, Ranma 1/2, Naruto+Shippuden, and Sailor Moon. You both might be disappointed since the thread is inactive as fuck at the moment.

You both might be disappointed since the thread is inactive as fuck at the moment. Indeed. I feel like the current season of anime doesn't have a lot of shows that are really conducive to long discussions. Most conversations go one of three ways: Me: Are you watching ________? Them: Nope. Me: Well then never mind. End Scene --- Me: Are you watching ________? Them: Yes. Me: Pretty good, right? Them. Yes. End Scene --- Me: Are you watching ________? Them: Yes. Me: It's pretty much trope filled garbage, right? Them: Yes. End Scene
Zor2k13 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 What is the japanese slang buzzword for anime types like trigun and cowboy bebop and ghost in the shell 1 or 2 not that new shit though. That term is what most people in US will probably be lumped into but thats not a bad thing. I can't stand to watch anything totally not like those shows you know, weird outrageous goofy whatever stuff that doesn't make sense except to japan stuff just can't watch it except space dandy of course.
Nasseliten Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Chinese and Korean anime is getting more and more popular so I have high hopes something good will come eventually. They still got a long way to go before they can compete with Japan though. Oh and I watched the latest boruto movie (yea I know... I know.... Enough said) But anyway the point was I watched it with korean voiceover and the it was pretty good! (the voices I mean, not the movie) sorrytoallyounarutofansbutitreallysucks.
Kendo 2 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I've been avoiding anime for a few months; the last first run series I followed were Overlord, Gangsta and Monster Girls. Things sort of died after that. It was like every series was a carbon copy of something else that was already done. Recently rewatched the uncensored versions of TriageX and Shinmai Maou No Testament and those were rewarding. I did find Beautiful Bones and I really liked that. It is worth watching; fresh ideas and story in an anime. Pretty rare these days.
Angrybird Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Not a bad season actually, watching the 2nd season of Akagami no Shirayuki one of the best shoujos out there, Prince of Stride is so cheesy I have to take a shower afterwards I like it but sports anime aren't for everyone. And boku dake ga typical murder mystery not my thing but the time travel spin makes more interesting for me. And I find some others to be passable and skip around the episodes when I have free time, the dumb octopus needed to have a darker tone, Utawhatever had many boring useless episodes Gate is inferior to the manga in every way.

I don think there has ever been so many shows before that i'm interested in. Trealach Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Started watching Monster last year, am currently on episode 43. It's a masterpiece, recommend it to everyone looking for good drama, suspense and tension. Animation is quite old though, but the story makes up for it (I actually love the art, to be honest). ...I Watched OPM's final episode 23 times and I cried 23 times. Hell, I cried watching Dagashi Kashi. I'm in the middle of Monster myself.
Kpnut Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Currently watching Dimension W and it's actually managing to hold my attention which very few series have been doing (I feel like I'm just going through the motions with most of them) from the 8 episodes I've watched so far I can tell that while it's not perfect it's still a damn good series (if nothing gets fucked up it could easily muscle its way into my top 10.)
The DarkSlayer Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Nothing has really caught my attention this season. The only good one I've watched so far is Rick and Morty. kek
shirow Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Currently this season I enjoy ( more or less) : 1-Boku dake ga inai machi ( I really like this anime, and I think it is the only one worth to watch ) 2-Dimension W ( a bit of fresh here, but not anime of the year ) 3- hai to gensou no grimgar ( the only problem of the show, it is slow as fuck to evolve )
lupytude Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 This season: Phantasy Star Online 2 Animation. It gets interesting in the later episodes.
bigbaddaboom Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Used to watch Dragonball Z, but the constant monologing wound me me up, did get into Highscool of the Dead, The Seven Deadly Sins and Attack on Titan (which was awesme by the way)
Kendo 2 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I think I've watched too much anime. Everything is starting to look like repeats and recycles to me. Where are the series like Shigurui Death Frenzy, Black Lagoon and Parasite? Where are the Hagure Yūsha no Esutetika's of the anime world today? The slice-of-life-robot-shit is starting to wear on me. *whimpers like abandoned puppy*
