Site Update: Things have changed, but nothing is final.

Not that this rank thingy actually matters but when it started I was almost lvl 12, I reached lvl 12 a few days later, and now all of a sudden I'm lvl 10 ? Am I missing something here ?

If I understand what Ashal said 5 posts above here, he needed to decrease from the universe of all posts since that was causing delays in the site (which I believe we can all agree is a bad thing). So, he's cut back to more recent posts only being in consideration. I suspect that he will continue to do so until he's satisfied with the site's performance. Which means that we may all "lose ranks" from time to time in order to improve performance.

Ranking is just a mechanism the people who made the forum decided to add because studies have shown that this kind of thing encourages participation. And they're not wrong about that.

This is exactly how you motivate and encourage participation. Good concept and very well thought out. Anyway, I'm very motivated at the moment.  ?

the rank level is really meaning nothing !!!   you could be level 0 or level 10 there is no difference !!!  ( it is like the scouts things )

it does not give any reputation points ( the important is the contenant of your post !!! )

and it will not give you the green or the purple rank .

your comment is not ridiculous it is a fact but it should not affect your motivations !

and if you really want to catch up some 10 k post you can post in profusion here Big Board of Fun - LoversLab

There are tons of topics here to upload and share screenshots from the games, which is great. I'm very active myself in this topics and that's one of the best features of Loverslab. But the images are not compressed when they are uploaded and some images are up to 12000 KB, the average between 2000 KB and 3000 KB. Wouldn't the performance improve immensely if the pics were compressed during the upload or if you set a limit of 1000 KB for the upload? For the viewer it makes no difference whether the image is in PNG or JPG but the 12000 KB PNG Image is only 2700 KB in JPG and the 3000 KB PNG is only 133 KB in JPG.

Ultimately, such decisions are up to Ashal. I can tell you what I know from personal experience. First, a caveat though, I am not the best judge of the quality of images. I find it hard to understand why people who play Skyrim get excited by 4k textures (or even 2k textures) so take what I am about to say with a grain of salt.

I have had no problem with uploading JPG files at any time on to LL. I have had, and do have, issues with PNG files and so I just don't use them. I use Paint to convert any image I want to use to JPG before I upload (for screenshots and other things if the upload is slow). However, as I mentioned, many people feel that their images are much better with PNG and insist on uploading in that format. To me, they just have to take what they get. It's not unlike buying a car. If you want to but a Lamborghini it will likely bust your budget but that's your choice, not mine.

Again, just for me, the bigger issue is the failure to use spoilers for images. When a Thread becomes crowded with images (and especially videos) that are not placed in spoilers, the speed at which that page of that Thread gets loaded slows waaaaaaaay down. So everyone, consider this a plea to use spoilers when loading images (more than one at least), videos and walls of text (such as load orders, debug logs, and other long technical information).

You are absolutely right, but unfortunately not every user is technically savvy and has the necessary knowledge. If I want to upload screenshots, Loverslab just says 'Drag files here to attach, or choose files'. If i have no clue, I take a screenshot in my game and upload that screenshot using drag and drop. Therefore, instructions on how to use spoilers when loading images would be very helpful.

Why thank you for being my straight man! ?

This is why I made a series of blog posts which are also available in a Thread found here:

The fourth blog post (surprisingly entitled "Posting") is the one that contains the information on using spoilers (among other things). As I said in the introduction to the blog - this blog is everything I wish I had known when I first came to LL.

I will study your blog posts like the bible. Thanks for pointing this out to people like me who sometimes lose track. I'm just a little irresolute about the straight man. ? ? ?

Is it me, or has the default font 'shrunk' in size, and is the text in currently existing posts shrinking?

I have to directly set the FONT size to my text otherwise, it becomes fairly ... small in stature.  Almost like every font size went down a teir.

Sure.  Ashal posted a pic of the badge list

I also think the badges are funny and think it's a shame that there are currently only 17 different ones and that most members reach a maximum of between 8 and 10 of them. The remaining 7 reach only a few. I think it would be great if there were much more badges and above all funny ones where you would be surprised when you get them.

Most of the members don't care about the badges, of course, but I think these small things bring life to the forum. Especially for the users who post regularly and don't just come to the site now and then to download new mods

> Using spoiler was always week spot of LL members. I admit, I forget to use it sometimes when posting only one big picture, but I can never understand those who ignore warnings to use spoiler when posting tones of pictures. I like to visit Sims 4 thread and sometimes I am very pissed off how slow the page opens. And it is because some posters gives shit about using spoilers. That's why I rarely visit those pages. Honestly, I am glad I am not moderator for I will delete those post without remorse.

> Regardless of saying that badges has no real meaning and it doesn't help you in social LL scale and that they are merely symbolic, I like to see I advanced in getting badges. It doesn't mean I desperately crave for them, but that I just love to see them. And I agree with you:most members advance to 7 or 10 badges and they stay at those badges for a long time. the other badges are earned by great minority. Ashal promised more badges. We'll see how frequent they will be earned. I hope not to rarely.

I understand your anger and it annoys me at least as much as it annoys you. In the threads where I post, the same perpetrators usually post over and over again. I have now just got into the habit, that all the members who post 10 pics one after the other with almost the same motifs, without spoilers or huge images of up to 12 MB in size, that I set all these repeat offenders on "ignore postings".

On the other hand, I have to say that LL does not give any indications when uploading that you should use smaller files or spoilers.

I know from many websides that there are upload limits, that an image can have a maximum of 1000 kb or only JPG are allowed. Then nobody would be able to upload 4K images of 12,000 KB a piece.
It's like in real life. If you don't give clear guidelines, no one sticks to them. Recommendations from a few moderators are not enough. ?

Sorry if you misunderstood my post because English is not my mother tongue, but I agree with you exactly. I took the time and read through all of the instructions from @Psalam. But who does it besides me? If I go to a thread and click on 'reply to this topic' there is only a field with 'Drag files here to attach' and then 'submit reply'. No info comes here 'please read the upload rules first' or 'please use spoilers' or something similar. I don't protect anyone, but I think that many of the users don't know about these rules, so you can't always blame only the users.

I was in between those who read and those who doesn't read important things for new comers. When I joined to LL I read some of it until my husband told me to read everything, so I wouldn't have excuse "I didn't know". Somebody said some time ago: "ignorance is not excuse... " :)

In real life i'm punished for everything I do wrong and nowhere I can say that I didn't know that. This is not accepted anywhere in real life. I get the same punishment whether I knew I was doing something wrong or not. I am obliged to inform myself. Before I take a car on the road, I am obliged to know the traffic rules. But as soon as you are anonymous, like on the Internet, nobody obeys any rules unless they are forced to.

Of course, the anonymity of the internet plays a role here, but there are also a lot of nerds and gamers here, for whom the only real woman in their lives is their mother, who brings them food to the PC and washes their over-farted pants . Otherwise, they only know women as virtual beings with monster tits who want to be fucked all day and are grateful for it.

I hate to keep this Thread off track but I must take exception. Women are especially welcome on LL. On any site that "is considered pornographic" (from the LL rules) women tend to be as rare as unicorns. Therefore, while many may feel that the opposite is true, I know that I (and I suspect the other Moderators) tend to cut women a little (and only a little) more slack than we do the guys (and the majority of others whose sex is unknown to us - which is their right of course).

Oh, and I'll use Eva's avatar as "my sex wish for today" to help get us back on track. ?
