kapibar Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 @Monoman1 I was thinking about this punishing mechanic for mother's death and I think I've got something. PC blames herself so much, she takes a vow to never cause death to anyone else and in consequence will not learn any offensive spells and drop every weapon equipped, because she refuses to take someone's life.

Forever and ever? I dunno. Think some people will have a problem with that But I've two gripes with it. 1. It is again a consequence that can not be predicted by the player. 2. I'm not sure I can differentiate between offensive and other spells.Â
Will55 Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 (edited) New to this mod although it took me 3 days to get my new profile to run it properly. There seems to be a problem with the drinks. he says: "get me an ale". I get the ale/wine etc but my char is unable to give it to him as all speech lines available deny the fact that the wanted drink is in my possession. It almost seems like my char is being set up to fail by the mod. I understand that the submission/depravity bit is in many ways the ultimate aim but I didn't want it to be this easy. Â Any clues on what i am doing wrongly? Â Just loved waking up with a sticky face, had no idea that dog drool was "sticky". So far, I am itching to collar him. Must control myself. Â Ohh and the diary fails to update as did help diary 4 when i added it. Edited June 30, 2022 by Will55

It is again a consequence that can not be predicted by the player. Let's see... You have amputator framework. So if you want something predictable - father can give you the ultimatum: you either keep mother alive, or he will cut off your good hand. Not as punishing as no weapons at all, but it can be easily predicted ?.  27 minutes ago, Monoman1 said: 2. Being a lazy ass that I am, I would just set both to -1.000.000, or something like that.  18 minutes ago, Will55 said: I get the ale/wine etc but my char is unable to give it to him as all speech lines available deny the fact that the wanted drink is in my possession. You need to serve drinks on a tray (equip tray via wheel menu or assigneg hotkey), then select dialogue option "about your drink".

Thank you! I worked it all out, but it still is nowhere near 100% functional as sometime the idle just does not work but then **** happens, I guess. My char refused to be his brood mare and was kicked out. I am so tempted to murder the old hag and join the DB just to kill him. I am abandoning this trial run through and will start gain later, this time being a whore instead of a desperate virgin. I played this char by ear TBH and next time will read up a little first. Overall, it is a pretty good look at the RL expectations of a working/peasant class daughter over 98% of mankind's history which many of those in this world seem to have forgotten, that is, if they ever knew it.Â
Anunya Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Re: consequences for "mother's death" I'd prefer something that is external rather than internal to the PC. Personally I like to determine how my character feels rather than have it imposed, and "I'm so upset I won't ever cast hostile spells or wield a weapon" seems like quite the imposition. Â IF you wanted something roughly similar in scope, I could see father declare he won't acquire magic or weapon licenses for you, or maybe charge double or triple the normal cost for them since "you killed your mother" or something like, effectively locking you out of having access to magic/ weapons/ armour. Â Other potential consequences for "letting" mother die (and I'm just brainstorming here rather than offering thoroughly thought out suggestions) could be: Â After a brief pause, father finds some other reason you need to effectively spend money on him. Maybe every so often he's "sad about mother's death, and needs a drink" and you have to go buy some very expensive alcohol or suffer a beating/ severe score loss. Maybe you have to guess the right amount to give him... if you give him too few he's surly, and if you give him too much you get a drunken beating. Â Or maybe every so often you have to go pick up (and pay for) a prostitute (or willing neighbour) and bring her home for a threesome with father "to cheer him up a bit". Â Maybe there's a random chance for a "depressive episode" (sort of like "father is drunk") where there's a chance of severe score loss as father blames you for "mother's death". Â Maybe father brings in some other (horrible) woman to take mother's place (even if just as a visitor) and you have twice the amount of things to do, with two people placing demands on you (this could still be through father, saying things like "mother needs... [x]" or she could make demands herself). Things that "your new mother" could demand and do: you buy clothes for her, you pick flowers for her, you acquire YPS beauty supplies for her (or she might steal yours), she needs to be fed just like father, she also has a "serve me food/ drink" schedule, she demands sex from you (while father watches/ participates/ or is out and better hope he doesn't come home and catch you), generate double the amount of messes that need to be cleaned up, maybe she whips you... maybe sometimes she demands things that are in contradiction to what father demands and you have to pick who you piss off or try to desperately juggle conflicting demands. Â Maybe there's a new set of tasks involving being sent to the temple of Arkay to do penance for causing mother's death, involving a corrupt priest and who knows what sort of humiliations inflicted. Â ... obviously, just a bunch of ideas. Take them or leave them as you will
Anunya Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 ... in general, I really enjoy the content that involves the PC having to do (degrading) things out in the community and think that's a rich vein to mine whenever you need additional content. Going to Belethor or the Honningmead Brewery etc is a key part of the mod, IMO. Â In addition to "helping" the priest of Arkay there are several other temples where the priests could have needs you could help with. I could also see things like doing "shows" and/ or serving people at the Drunken Huntsman or Bannered Mare. Maybe you could bring a bit of entertainment/ supplies to the poor prisoners. Maybe father has some understanding with a certain group of guards, so you better help keep them sweet. Maybe you can be father's way to gain a bit of influence with the Companions somehow. Perhaps Faerangar could use a little help or is making demands.... Â And conversely, maybe some of those people (including ones that have already be implemented) could show up at home and make demands / requests of father. Â ... just more unsolicited $0.02 for you in case you're looking for input

We have something like that already - license purchase is blocked in WT, so anyway you have to go through father to get one. The punishment for mother's death has to be painful. Like really painful, you don't want to go there. Having no license is a minor inconvenience that can be worked around (I know, I tried). Thelargir Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 A consequence that I think makes sense for when the mother dies is this: You will be made responsible for organizing her funeral and will have to pay for a casket etc. An extra expenditure seems reasonable. Like 1000 gold or something? And then if you are unable to pay, the mother is simply thrown into a ditch somewhere and left to rot. You may have some kind of nightmares or actual hauntings that prevent you from getting rest. This could work well in tandem with Devious Mindbreak and/or Realistic Needs. Or the mother could come back as a draugr and attack you or something. Of course, there should also be some other, long term effect that makes things difficult. I'm thinking something that has to do with the farm and inheritance. What if: You inherit the farm, in which case you will be responsible for getting a property license, and paying regular taxes?

Clea Strange Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 (edited) Or an option that can be enabled or disabled to have a brother that wants his sister "the player" for himself so he gets rid of father, and we replace one owner for another. Â Â Edited July 1, 2022 by Clea Strange
Anunya Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 ... all kinds of messed up things could be imagined, that's for sure. I know, because I'm imagining some of them Â
Clea Strange Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 Of course as I mentioned sometime earlier way way earlier. I would like an option where I can just disable the sister/brother and have it where its just the player character. Which as far as I understand as someone mentioned that it is suppose to be an option to disable the sister/brother.

This got me thinking, @Monoman1 maybe you should consider adding lateralization to SLS? There's no such mechanic in Skyrim and people usually are not as good with their non-dominant hand. So I'm thinking a tangible debuff to damage with non-dominant hand with a very slim chance to drop the weapon equipped in your non-dominant hand...?  6 hours ago, Thelargir said: A consequence that I think makes sense for when the mother dies is this: You will be made responsible for organizing her funeral and will have to pay for a casket etc. An extra expenditure seems reasonable. Like 1000 gold or something? With WT money is not that big of a deal as some of you guys think. If you have alchemy table (which WT provides) you can have a steady source of income, topped with a convenient way to level up alchemy. At the point of the story where mother dies, the cash wouldn't be a problem. So players with a knack for economy wouldn't even consider it a problem. Edited July 1, 2022 by kapibar

Well, it really depends on what other mods you use too, and your playstyle. I use FMEA, and Living Takes Time, which means you can only craft so much in a single day, and with the added risk of alchemy mishaps from FMEA, it becomes a bit more unmanageable. Even gathering ingredients can provide a bit of a risk. Edited July 1, 2022 by Thelargir 1
Anunya Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 (edited) Yeah, I sometimes use FMEA but even if I don't I have things like Alchemy Requires Bottles and Less Valuable Alchemy - not to mention Trade & Barter. I tuned "Alchemy --> massive amounts of gold" out from most of my games quite a while ago.  The way my economy is tuned it's basically impossible to keep mother alive for more than a week or two unless my character embraces prostitution in all her spare moments via the Ancient Profession and/ or Radiant Prostitution... and I think I'll look for ways to dial that down because while I'm (obviously) playing kinky Skyrim constant prostitution gets a bit dull after a while (right now I'm thinking of taking the Ancient Profession out, making it less viable to generate income by fucking everyone you meet on the highways and byways outside of town).  I'm also looking at - for my next playthrough - to bring Sexlab Adventures back and use the feature that turns off mana (and maybe health) regen, so my PC will have to rely on potions (and maybe some sex-related things if I can figure it out), putting even more pressure on crafting time. Even more so as I'm activating Living Takes Time as well (thanks for the reminder @Thelargir ).  That's not to say that the mod should be tuned around the way my game is set up - obviously not - but there are many ways to play Skyrim and Wartimes. Most of my Wartimes playthroughs are really about what happens after mother dies because I'm set up to make it almost impossible to keep her alive (much less buy her out). Favors will give you a lot more gold than the tasks, and the more you give in to your father's wants, the more favor you get from him (passive favor for the collar, shoes, etc., more favor from the parties, more favor for sex with him, etc.). It's not a perfect thing, but considering this was originally made to be an alternate start and not it's own complete overhaul, it makes sense. I do wish the base pay for some tasks was increased, or that there were multiple tasks for one job (example, groom the stalion, then clean the stable, then feed the horses, each with it's own pay), but that's just me.Â
