Thanks for the report!

This is a mystery. I use SUM 2.01 and POP 5.01 in my normal everyday load order, and I do not see this error.

I include the UIE patch in the SE conversion, so there should not be any need to install the UIE patch for LE.

You installed the UIE patch for SUM 2.00 LE and got no error - makes me think that you have another json file somewhere that is overriding the file shipped with SUM 2.01.

Please go to your Data tab in the MO2 right pane and find file SKSE > Plugins > Skyrim - Utility Mod > System > SUM > System.json

MO2 will show you which mod or directory is providing that file. My suspicion is that file is not being provided by your installed SUM 2.01.

Here is what my MO2 display looks like for that file:

After you located that System.json file, then right-click the file and choose Preview from the popup menu.

MO2 will show you the contents of the file.

Here is what my System.json file looks like. I highlighted the relevant line. Notice that SUM 2.01 accepts a UIE patch version of either 200 or 201.

Yeah, that looks like the problem. I forgot I put system.json in a separate skse folder so I didn't lose the settings. Thanks for reminding me.

You are quite welcome! I am very pleased that we could fix your problem! ?

And by the way, I have a tremendous amount of respect for all the troubleshooting and user assistance that you provide on the DD and DCL support threads! ❤️

Hey girls and boys,

First of all thank you for this mod!

I found a problem with SUM 2.01 SE and Skyrim VR, using controllers. Whenever I enable this mod (with or without noSpin VR patch) in my load order, dialogue menus (when talking to characters) become unusable with my oculus rift 2 controllers. Dialoge entries are skipped when I use the thumb sticks to scroll up and down. E.g., in case of three entries in the list, the second one is always skipped.

This phenomenon is already present in the Start menu of Skyrim VR (which is different from SE) as soon as SUM is loaded.  Here, you cant select the entry LOAD anymore, because it jumps to the QUIT entry on the bottom of the list. I am not sure why this behavior happens. It is not present in the main menu (ESC) and MCM.

I tried different load orders (at the beginning & at the end) and played with the MCM settings of SUM. However, I could not change this behavior to the better and I am unsure, as to how to continue.

If my bug description is unclear, I can make a video of the behavior. Let me know, in this case, please.

All the best!

I do not have Skyrim VR, so I cannot troubleshoot this.

My only suggestion is to try unbinding all hotkeys in SUM and see if that avoids the problem:

Open MCM -> Go to Skyrim Utility -> Go to the System page

Scroll down to the "Hotkeys" section. On the right side of the page, at the bottom of the "Hotkeys" section, select the option "Unbind Key Mapping"

Thank you for this advice. I have tried it. It hasn't changed the situation. However, I noticed that it works just fine sometimes. I will investigate it and give you feedback when I find out what I can do about it.

Take care.

I'll add a check for future versions that will let the player know when the .json is missing or the wrong version.

sorry for a lot of questions my friend.

You are welcome to try it and report back here on your results. Be sure to keep a save from before you upgrade to the Sexlab beta 9, in case something doesn’t work.

Hey Herowynne,

I like to report back some knew insights I got with the controller issue and SUM.

I found that the issue does not show up, when SUM is enabled, but mods depending on SUM, such as POP or DDe, are disabled. In other words, when POP or DDe are enabled in addition to SUM, the controller issue appears. Today, I updated POP and DDe to version 5.02 SE and SUM to 2.02 SE. The issue is still present.

Okay, thanks for the report. Unfortunately, as I said before, I do not have Skyrim VR, so I cannot troubleshoot this.

If someone is able to troubleshoot the cause of this problem, and it is something that I can fix or change in the SE conversion, then I will be happy to do that.

Got warning/error popups with SL 163 beta 9, went to mod folders and added 16209 to "islcompatiblever" : variable in SKSE\Plugins\Skyrim - Utility Mod\System\SUM\System.json and 202 to "isumcompatiblever" : variable in SKSE\Plugins\Devious Devices - Equip\System\DDE\System.json
Warning disappeared, both mods booted properly. DDe is functional, at least at first glance.

Is anyone getting errors with the new version being unable to find its system.json file? (even though its there)

Yeah, I'm getting that too.

I';m rebuilding my skyrim so will try again on a clean save and let you know how it goes.

I also noticed somewhere in the MCM it mentioned iSumSystem.json.

Has anyone tried renaming their json file to this?

EDIT: Full clean rebuild of skyrim (yes, full reinstall) and all 3 now work together properly.

I think it's because if you're going from 4.x to 5 you need a clean save regardless. I was getting the error even in Qasmoke (test cell) so my install was definitely messed. Best to work out your modlist through many hours of tinkering, then when you're ready do a single clean build, sort the load order and should be good to go :)

Only took me about 6 hours.. haha :P

I think I found the issue:
error message says the path should be "Data/SKSE/Plugins/Skyrim - Utility Mod/System/SUM/System.json"
This IS the path where the file is installed.
HOWEVER, in the MCM, system tab, down under the "System Json Folder/Path" heading, the path is listed as "Data/SKSE/Plugins/Skyrim - Utility Mod/Global/MCM/System"
The MCM menu does give the option to change this, but MCM itself seems to have a character limit on text entry boxes, and so you can't actually enter in the full file path to correct the error.

So I kinda got the same error message with both this and also POP - somehow both just can't find their system.json even though it's clearly installed in the exact same folder path.......been searching up and down for a "script" to maybe point the whole thing to a right path but having no avail as which "script" does this........anyone care to give a pointer or a way to solve it, or should I just ignore it as in the MCM, i believe everything seems to run okay?

Edit: Solved the error message issue(s), turns out to be somewhat related to MO's load order (although not really sure why or how)? SUM's priority in MO should be above all that is related to Inte's mod. Again, not sure why or how but it solved my issue and maybe it could help you too?

If everything works correctly, I can add that SL version No. to the compatible versions list.
