Banned from Nexus

I've gone through that already while helping a nephew get his NBA 2K13 installed.

I don't advocate the promotion of warez and never will, but Steam = Internet. No Internet, no game.

Also, most half-smart forumgoers tend to look at the lengthy rules rather briefly and move along, because for them, it's TL;DR, it's moonspeak, and that mentality will be their undoing later on.

Okay, what else? At a particular modding site (other than Nex), the Yank admins impose a PG-13 for any content that is being posted on their forum, although the game is rated M by the ESRB and that the user/modder age is probably over 20, which means you should be a politically-correct Yank to peruse their community.

The installer on the disc is the Steam installer, so once you click on "install" your game gets downloaded and installed from Steam and not the disc. So hard copies of any game that "requires Steam" is basically worthless (my opinion).

Edit again: Darn, you're fast BruceWayne :)

Not entirely true.  If you create a shortcut to the disk install path with a command line in the properties (forget what it is), Steam'll install off the disc.  It just looks like it's downloading cuz that's how Steam rolls.

That pun was awesome.

I suppose it'd be weird for me to say I don't have an issue with the Nexus' policies. It's their site and they'll run it how they will.

I sit in their chatroom (how I wish LL had one), and the majority of chatbans I see being handed out are for people who're essentially asking for it. Whether they're asking for help with an illegal copy of Skyrim, or being obscene/insulting. The latter never done without first a warning kick. The majority of the moderators who happen chat, which I would imagine is a small number of them, are pretty laid back. Dante included.

Granted, people can be a little bit melodramatic. A site I had linked (with no nudity or obscenity) drew some ire, but I was warned against it and it just made me a little more cautious as to what I post.

I can't speak as to what goes on in the imageshare, however.

I always find it hilarious about the image policy on nexus. You can wear the skimpiest of the skimpiest armor, post a mutilated guy with guts spilled all over the place, do a revealing position of your character covering her breasts *BUUUUUUT* if a genital/nipple shows up in any of them, they go apeshit and warn you if you're lucky otherwise insta-banning your ass. Add a few "bad words" that people find offensive so they have to bitch to moderators and you get yourself an IP ban and a one way ticket to Lovers Lab.

The hilarious part is that they allow uploading any adult-only mod excluding pedo stuff be it hentai, consensual, bestiality, necrophilia, you name it but you can't advertise them like skimpy mods. They're like:

""Oh that's cool, just don't show it in public. We are a family friendly network. However your "Ebony Armor Omega-Skimpified" and "Ultra Brutal Carnage and Massacre - 1000% More Intestines Edition" mods are just fine, feel free post screenshots of their contents.""

It's no secret tesnexus is half porn site already and the skyrim's counterpart is catching up fast. New Vegas is up there too. Why are they trying to hide it always makes me laugh.

Hard Copies do have their benefits...yes, they have to be registered with Steam to be able to use them. But when you install the game, or having to re-install, using the Hard Copy to install through Steam takes 20 minutes rather than the hours it takes without a Hard Copy...Plus if you live somewhere like Australia, which I do, there is a cap on the Megabytes you can use per month, how many you pay for and if using a Hard Copy it doesn't use Megabytes to install the game.

Those are some stupid things to put a cap on...

Welcome to Australia.... <_<

It's got to change eventually and Australia has to catch up with the rest of the world, but it hasn't happened yet.... :(

Got warning for arguing with other user. Nexus between Dickheads and Cunts is located at nexusmods.com.

'Bout a year ago I received strike for citing the link to LL.

The best part of it is that the argument stopped and the thread continued for the next 23 pages without us even exchanging a word. I doubt the user reported my post he would have done this two weeks ago.

I hope LL will "take over" the nexus some day.

I don't laugh at most things like this but this had me laughing my ass off especially the end... and the person who called you a homophobe probably just felt you insulted him by comparing Harkon to a gay gargoyle after all Harkon looks more like an....... yea I think I'll keep that one to myself.

Now on to reading the rest of the topic.

Reason for Edit:  HOLY GAPING GOATSE BATMAN!  Please don't quote a freaking WALL of text and pictures for a simple response.  That is just plain ridiculous.

Edit: Understandable and sorry I should have "spoilered" the qoute and also sorry again but Posted had to get cut that would have driven me nuts as it was on my post...

I have been antagonizing against the Ulfric Stormhitler mod on the Nexus, because I couldn't rhyme it with their usual policy of not allowing offensive mods. (It was before the modder changed the swastikas to maltezer crosses, not interested in getting into that discussion again). To me, allowing the Stormhitler mod was hypocritical. (Actually, I get uneasy when I approach vanilla Solitude, with the wolf-banners hanging from the towers...)

Oddly enough, despite my super-critical opinion on the nexus-moderation team's trackrecord, I'm still a member in good standing.

All in all, you can kick against the Nexus all you want on non-affiliated websites, but if there only was LL for my modding-needs, I might aswell get pay-pal and buy Sexy Beach 3 straight from the source. Seriously.

Nexus is a very convenient place, but the biggest problem I have with it is not the moderation-team an sich, but with the worshipping of modders and modders expecting to be worshipped. There are very few modders who deserve worship. I honestly don't care if a modder works for weeks on a mod only to end up uploading something that gets updated two hours later. I dare say I spend double that time working to keep my mods all playing nice together and we mod-users should get some respect for sticking with mods, finding ways to keep using them and doing mouth-to-mouth advertizing for mods we find particularly awesome.

Use my mod and STFU does not sit well with me.

To the OP, use cath-alls when it comes to getting a point across. In the case of Harkon, calling him a flamboyant gargoyle would've been more to the point, because he's very showboaty. (Beeehooold mah powah!!) It would also have shown a more astute perspective from the protagonist's side. My two cents anyway.

They need to ban the ... oh I have a whole shitload of creative adjectives to put here describing the people who complained... people who complained and leave you alone. This whole Orwellian thing has gotten completely out of control, especially since they allow bestial rape and then ban you because you said gay? Talk about hypocrisy at its worst.

Your comics are damned funny, by the way! :)
