Captain Cobra Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Think they treat their paid subscribers like they're not quite as disposable over at the Nexus? They get Diplomatic Immunity!
CoxcombCornking Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Think they treat their paid subscribers like they're not quite as disposable over at the Nexus? They get Diplomatic Immunity!Evidence seems to suggest otherwise. Some immunity has undoubtedly been granted to modders that have uploaded mods that are proven to be "best sellers" with the most page hits. If there were a mod uploaded at Nexus which consisted of some given number of their proclaimed taboos, yet somehow generated 50,000 page views within 24 hours, with only 13 downloads, the mod would indeed still be considered worthy to stay on site. Most especially, if this mod consistently had large numbers of views while " under review " by admins. In the end, they still would not want to jeopardize their access to the advertising revenues. Super porno and other types of adult mods may affect this. Although, when you peruse many of the site's various game "Adult Sections", you are left wondering exactly where that invisible taboo line is. Perhaps it has something to do with an overall percentage or ratio of "general audience" mods vs. "mature audience" mods available to consumers of that site. Does that even make any sense?
Guest Mogie56 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Hilarious beginning to this video, even the mod reviewers are afraid to mention Nexus in a bad light for fear of being banned. I found them both quite funny But do give a listen And this one mentions LL "and" Nexus as places to get offensive mods even though the reviewer uses those said mods LMAO But he does kind of level the playing field and doesn't go ballistic on either site LOL http://youtu.be/l0zH3B8lz7Q
Guest xthejester Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 That second video is how I found this place.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Apparently you're strictly not allowed to mention LoversLab on their forums because, as the moderator explained, LoversLab has more lenient rules on the content. That's like the USA strictly not allowing anyone to mention Sweden because it has different intellectual property laws. Yeah, that's about what it's like. If I remember correctly it was a mention of LoversLab over there that made me search for this place. I forgot how I found LL, I think I was looking for a nude mod and LL popped up on google. Like 5 links. Joined a few days later and here I am. Though, I was very quiet after my first post (I didn't exactly stumble in with a Hello everyone :x) for probably about a year long. Just lurking through all these frappable mods and ocassionally tossing in a comment here and there. Yeah, Nexus was my main mod site. I guess what really got me here was after uncovering how Nexus really was. When I read about the bullshit they did to Earache. That was shady stuff. I honestly would of never had Lings back up and come to LL, but he proabbly doesn't know about LL or just doesn't care. Nexus is very good at kicking out great modders that have contributed to the members for a long time or with a good amount of content to be well known and respected enough to let some idiot random member report a mod and get accused for this false statement. I know they regret that incident. Yeah, no one is perfect and people make mistakes, but that went too far. And then AlienSlof's emo. I don't know a whole lot about her story, just teh fact that she was annoyed of all the trolls on Nexus FO3 bashing Breezes mod and any male genitalia mod that was uploaded. And also about Kikai's work being stolen. I laid low so I didn't really pay much attention to the comments when I first joined Nexus. I just sucked the shit out of the mods there and dropped a thankful comment here and there and endorsement. I look at Nexus like I look at NMM. It's just for starters until you advance and move on. Nexus is a has been. It's no community. The Nexus Forums is practically dead most of the times. Prensa is one of the very very few helpful members in the FO3 troubleshoot section. And most of the times you will see a new thread with 0-1 comments. I've had my share of posts being completely ignored. That site just serves as a download hub and move on. You want to actually be a part of a community? Come to LL. You really want help with something? Come to LL. Nexus offers you the ban paddle on the ass. I have yet to believe warnings are even given. Now, I personally don't like Nexus because some asshat moderator felt like removing certain images from my posted images on the imageshare. It happened on serval occasions. The very last time, I blew up and called them out on it. Some other member mentioned it happened to him too. So that right there proved to me I wasn't going insane. WHy they did it? I always thought that it was a certain moderator that just never liked my work. Or just having a a sour life everyday and takes it out on certain people. I just never repored it because we all know the outcome of that... I'm a fat liar. Make another false accusation and it's off with your head.
Captain Cobra Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Came to LL to find the name of an armor, stayed because it's one of the few web boards on the net with competent moderators and admins.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Yeah, the moderators here are very mellow. Even if things get out of porportion at times like the FO4 thread. I think in the end when it's about to get crazy we realize that this site doesn't need that and remember what a great community this is. We end up slapping our own wrist because we know it's hard to find a community like LL. The only other mod community site that I pertained to that was pretty balanced out was Neko-Sentai back when I modded FFXI. I knew the admin too. Was from my server back back in the days. I rarely make my way there now since I don't follow FF14 and last I read (i could be wrong), it was pretty hard to mod for that game since it's gone through some changes. I dunno. There are good peeps there, though. And a lot of naughty content (mainly Anime).
Kpnut Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I found LL when I was trying to find a mod (not a nude or sex mod, just a clothing mod for FNV) made an account and kinda lurked for a bit. Then I got tired of the shit in the FNV image share on the nexus and set up shop here.
DIYDeath Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I say we just take down Nexus unless they bend to the will of our demands! muahahahah~ Equally as silly as some of the banning practices I have heard about with them. But in all seriousness, there are "other" methods for getting an organization in line when they have become far out of it. Start at the State Attorney Generals office, file a complaint, Better Business Bureau, file a complaint, Consumer Affairs, file a complaint. After a few hundred or so come flowing their way into the system, action is taken, I have seen it happen with much bigger foes. Me? I am still there, have been since like 09 maybe? Never had a problem with anyone, probably because I am just low man on the totem pole and rarely get into any discussions there....lol That could work if you were a premium member and fished for a undeserving ban as you paid for a product and are now being denied access to said product without a valid reason for a extended period of time. Luckily Ive only gotten banned from their chat, that's what happens when you pm the mods, tell them you don't agree with how they're conducting themselves then call them out in the open when they become exceptionally rude for no reason. (even other users started saying what he said was uncalled for, which just doesn't happen on that forum for obvious reasons). They didn't even put me on their "wall of shame". Considering they put EVERYONE on that list and I didn't make it onto that list, I take that as a "they can't justify my ban so they're keeping hush hush over it" scenario. Point is I'd love to see someone stick it to them, the Nexus team has no clue what they're doing. 1) Buggy, bad program which in the past did things to your computer without permission, though they deny this even if the case is well documented by several users (or in other words - awfuly, lazy tech support and I'm in a position to judge as I am tech support). 2) Moderation staff which is both unprofessional and childish, I mean what kind of forum allows their moderators to post the names of banned users with a usually mocking blurb. To my knowledge that's border-lining on libel issues, which again, shows professional ineptitude. I hope someone sues the **** outta them, win or lose, doesn't matter, I just want them to realize that what they're doing on the whole is unacceptable behavior and there's consequences to those actions they're chosen to make and continue to make.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I brought that up to their attention about posting the wall page of bans for their enlightment. They do or don't realize that it intimidates new members that join the forum, and that it just discourages them from ever posting at all. It's a dictatorship in there. One wrong word costs you your account. PIRATE!!!! ARGGG!!!! Okay, that was two, but still. I can just imagine all the moderators in Skype just bashing their own members and contemplating on who will be their next victim. Like the kid with the magnifying glass aiming the sunlight at the ant and watching it burn to death.. Edit: The sad thing is there is never and never will be any way that they will reason with you. They are always right and you are always wrong.
Rayblue Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 It's their way of keeping everyone else in line. Which is why we just leech and then leave quickly.
gvman3670 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Alright. What if someone went to the Nexus and posted in the forum or chat "YARR, I'M A LEECHING PIRATE! AHOY, MATIES!!"? How long would it take for a permaban?
Guest Omega1084 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I'd give them a few minutes to an hour depending on the service Dante is giving Robin's impotent little prick. It's a weird banning fetish they have, I can understand most fetishes but I don't get this one.
Guest Mogie56 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Chat in they're minds is for admin/moderators which is why that is where many of the bans come from and they're wall of shame is for no other reason then to let everyone know you'll be on it if you say one word against us. as far as dictatorship goes, they're really not smart enough for that. But they fall to the generation of "I don't give a fuck" and they're arrogance and ignorance shows it. we can talk about them till we're blue in the face but they just do not care. we are beneath them in there infallible minds, which is the thought process of any elitist brought up in that type of environment.
Guest Omega1084 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 In the last few weeks I've noticed a really big drop in quality mods. There's more and more follower mods and less armor/gameplay based ones. There's also still people releasing .bat files as mods. I like to think that like all dictatorships, the Nexus is about to crumble, and it's going to crash and burn hard.
Kendo 2 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 The same thing happened with Oblivion. There were lots of good mods and then...nothing. CM partners companions, mediocre clothing and armor mods, etc. became the Nexus norm. One thing crippling Skyriim Nexus is the lack of participation by the Japanese modding community. They have for the most part abandoned Nexus and they were the ones who carried Oblivion to the level it had at one time. That is missing from Nexus since there are Japanese communities for Skyrim and they couldn't care less about Nexus...which is a good thing. Also take into consideration that the high level modders who made Oblivion what it was are no longer members at Nexus. They have either been banned or they walked away in disgust. The staff can take all of the credit for purging their membership of talented modders.
Duoleb The Chosen Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 there's 2 sides about the jap modding community 1- they are good 2- its 90% of chance that their mods will have: shitty textures, Shitty borken models, bugs and bugs, No communication or feedback, and NSFW at his finest including lolicon(which pisses most of the community who wants the ol male and female D&D rpg armor, not skimpy cloth crap that came from phantasy star and really nexus.... Why the fuck you want TESO support, that game is BALLS deep horrible
Guest Omega1084 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I've been around the Japanese Skyrim community, sure you find weird mods and lolicon crap every now and then but the large majority is really nice stuff. Like at ModType, I've yet to see lolicon stuff there, just really cool armor is what I've found. They can get pretty creative. A random question, though. How hard is it to make a follower mod in Skyrim? I used UFO in the past and made a few followers, is it that simple to mod one too? I'm not interested in making one, just curious as to what kind of effort goes into it.
gvman3670 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 and really nexus.... Why the fuck you want TESO support, that game is BALLS deep horriblethey don't give a shit for that game but people come to see that stuff = click click click = money money That's probably the case. Even if the game can't be modded there will still be search engine traffic directed there and that means Septims for DorkOne.
Guest Omega1084 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 You might not be able to mod it a whole lot but the people looking for it don't know that.
Mebrilia Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I don't know about a golden mod age for oblivion... Since in those days when i was searching for lore friendly mod i got costantly spammed with anime stuff that i personally dislike a lot to see in TES... Seriously in those days was a pain find a decent mod you had to search a lot... I remember when i needed some nice light armors for oblivion hit the search button and BANG!!!! Page filled of skimpy anime stuff... Pages and pages and pages Was truly a nightmare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kda3CuG6Uuc filled with stuff like that that i dislike... at least they did something good... adding the content filtering... but then nexus came up with that no sense bans....and i just use the nexus avoiding the community

Guest Omega1084 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I think they're hilarious to watch, but completely useless otherwise. Just some random person wanting to derp around Skyrim. I'll give shooting logs from a bow the same response I give a naked body mod with tits the size of Ulfric's ego, it's cool if others like it, I probably won't download it. I'm not much of a loremonger but I can understand people getting pissed about these things flooding the site. To each their own, I just ignore it and keep looking, a few extra clicks never killed anyone. Speaking of which, I saw a lot of people complaining when the "Required Files" popup update was released because they had to click two more times to get to their content. Hilarious.
Contessa Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 People complained about that? I just noticed it and it's actually one of the things I think improves the site. I'm absentminded so that little reminder has saved me a lot of time lately.
