And if he added all of the perks and abilities to all of the NPCs that means he's changed all of the NPCs. That's a conflict waiting to happen. In the vanilla game only a handful of NPCs have perks, racial powers and abilities added to them. Adding all that mess he made unbalances the game for someone like me who runs things basically vanilla and relies on the game difficluty slider to make things more or less of a challenge. Invisible Bosmer archers at every Bandit spawn point is not my idea of a good gaming session.

For someone like you who plays almost vanilla it's a problem but when you can use your special anime powers of death to bring about the death and destruction of a whole city by blinking and making your eyes wiggly then, you know....... shit needs to happen to keep things entertaining. I've been playing Skyrim since 2011 and if some loremonger were to try playing my game right now they'd load up the first save file and either kill me or become a singularity and implode, likely destroying the fabric of space and time in its entirety along with themselves. I may have exaggerated a little.

Kendo 2 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 My first mod was 'Kendo Girl' for Oblvion. It was one of the most popular mods at Nexus for a long time. I didn't know anything about modding when I made it. I read a few tutorials, looked at what other mods did in their esps, compared it all to how things were done in the vanilla game and I just 'made a mod.' If I can do it anyone can. But we have to remember mod standards were higher back then and the learning curve was steep. For Oblivion there was the Constuction Kit, OMM and the script extender, and that was it. There weren't any 'modding made easy' utilities like there are now and the mod audience was a lot more refined since the niche was smaller than it is now.

I make custom patches for my race records since I use several race overhauls at once (EEO, cat like Kajiit, etc). In my game the racial abilities added by this mod are pointless the difficulty is cranked up to high but it is a very good mod (like all of his mods).

Everybody starts somewhere. My "first mod" was a vampire powers mod for Oblivion that somehow managed to break NPC's reactions to player vampirism entirely. Every NPC in the game would want your head on a pike. Which, I guess is realistic, seeing as vampirism is blatantly obvious given the visual cues, but it broke every quest in the game. I've since learned to avoid changing anything vanilla, lest I horribly butcher vital gameplay mechanics.

People here have said that the modding scene would be better if certain kinds of mods wouldn't exist: Follower mods, mesh swaps of static objects, ENB presets and retextures. What is annoying, redundant or unnecessary for you may be something someone else is enjoying. The mod Jormungandr posted is a mod that nobody wanted. There is nothing wrong with that. It's just one of the many mods that you don't want to see in your game. It's not anyone's job to tailor to your need and make your personal browsing experience the best experience it could possibly be. Dictating what is and what is allowed to is elitist crap and it would only serve your personal needs, you wouldn't make nexus necessarily a better place in general if the things were handled how you want them to be handled, you would only make it a better place for yourself. You know, the kind of thing Dark0ne does. That was one reason why LL was founded, the need to escape that elitist bullcrap that forbid hosting the mods that are being hosted here. Who decides what mods are worthy, what mods are allowed? No one should. Let the users decide what they want in their game. Not only a select few with superior tasteTM. Let the people upload crap if they want to, no one will download it anyway if it is truly something that nobody wants to have. It's not like hundred of mods get uploaded each day, browse the new mods twice a week and you are done in 5 minutes max.

Yes that was a question, albeit one without a questionmark behind. I was asking for the WHY, referring to the fact that i can't understand WHY people are creating these mods. Heck for all i know this guy could just try to force his oppinion on how difficult the game "should" be onto others, just like i have the feeling with all those overhauls out there (oh noes i BASHED SkyRe! i totally did just now) he could also just uploaded and created it (in that order) while he was asleep and fapping (in that order). Point being, if no one wanted those things in their game they probably wouldn't be so popular. Which is a sad reality all on its own but that's why you learn to make your own mods. So you don't have to download someone else's and don't have to deal with infinite lists of subjective shite. Mind you, some of these things are objective shite, but those don't get downloads anyway.
