I feel tempted to call him out for NOT READING CAREFULLY before using MO.

Ha! Dickweed.jpg.

MO isn't that complicated to use, clearly defined instructions and basic reading skills help out a lot in the real world.

I'm not sure which but one of those two is missing here... hmm...

Sometimes I don't get why people use software to organize their mods. The only advantage to this for me would be if playing multiple saves with different .esp enabled or if trying a bigass mod which I'm not sure if it's worth keeping, and if not, uninstall all the files with a click. That's all. Manual modding allows you to understand and get a better technical view on the game by getting to know the folders and files of the game itself. Countless times on nexus comments I've seen people is this NMM compatitble? Seriously, a fucking drag and drop with esp and bsa needs to be done with a software?

Jesus.

Fed up with the lack of control NMM provided (and bad uninstallations), I settled for a while with manual and Wrye, but things became complicated and messy after installing Tropical Skyrim, and so I went for a clean install, read everything on MO, and then bit the bullet... Never went back since then.

NMM initially became a de-facto manager for beginners because it's promoted by the site as it's all-in-one utility, for purported ability to uninstall mods (thus creating a breed of modders who became dependent on it), but the smarter ones either had to memorize which files goes to what directory, or those with common sense pick up MO.

Personally, I use NMM along with me manually installing specific things sometimes to be sure mods do what they're supposed to.

I tried MO and it wasn't for me, I'm lazy and dumb, see title. I think NMM has gotten more crap than it deserves though.

Maybe it's because I never had to use the old versions but it's pretty good in my opinion.

If he had posted that in the NMM thread he'd be toast.  Not that odd that he can get away with that shit when he's bashig software that competes with NMM.

I do the same thing, but I have like the last stable version of NMM before Dark0ne decided he was clever and started all of his hidden pinging and mining scripts.  (It's from 2012!)  I've never had the issues people talk about with NMM, but then I NEVER update it and I always disconnect from the internet before I fire it up.

Dark0ne added info mining to the scripts for NMM.  When people log on, check for mod updates or other NMM funtions on-line he's delving into their PCs.  He was found out and blew it off as 'everyone does it'.  Everyone as in Google and the NSA, I guess.

Ah, cute. I wonder how far he's taken that or if it's still a thing.

At any rate, the most compromising thing he'll find on me is the over six hundred cat videos in my youtube search history.

Think he might give up after the fifth one.

The online functions are automatic turned off when you first fire it up on the latest versions. You have to either manually connect NMM to your internet or preform a task that sets it up (like endorsing or downloading a mod). I find it convenient since I use it for endorsements. Modders on nexus are getting pretty anal about those. Which I don't understand, since no matter how good your mod is, it will be always trumped by a pretty follower mod, or better yet. Statues.

I never used MO (I installed it to see its benefits which were 0 for me) I just double click a mod to install it or double click a mod to uninstall it, since I've been using the same save on my skyrim for over 400 hours while daily removing, add, and merging mod in my 250+ load order I'd say nothing fancier is needed. Though to be fair I've seen people who can't even do preschool modding like changing their characters body type or skeleton... so I don't judge people on what they themselves use.

Good description of Steam and Steam Workshop.

400 hours? On a single save file? That's amazing.

I usually barely finish a few quests before I wanna try a new mod setup or some random stuff and start a new save xD

I never understand why people use NMM MO BOSS or LOOT and the like.

NMM is propably the greatest steaming pile of shit ever created in the modding community, i stopped counting how often i saw someone reporting something doesn't work/asking for help and NMM as involved. MO, no idea about that one, goes into the same category as NMM for me, won't use it.

I used BOSS once in my life, it fucked my load order up so grand it wasn't funny anymore. Never touched LOOT because of BOSS' crappyness. And frankly people tend to stop thinking on their own once they can refer to BOSS or now LOOT, since BOSS got kinda discontinued from what i've gathered.

I only go face-desking whenever i see someone asking for help and people say "Run BOSS/LOOT". It's like the majority thinks the program is magical and can solve all your modding problems.

Which it can't.

To add to this, i didn't have had a CTD or problem i couldn't solve on my own with me game in the past 2 years. No joke.  And i'm not using any of those fancy programs.

I believe that is Unnecessary Violence I am using UV111 atm you can start people on fire and watch them burst into flames till there is not much left throw weapons at them chance to whack off body parts or cut holes in their necks and other places that kill instantly and get weapons stuck in enemies when you hit them. I actually got a axe stuck in a guys crotch in the link here that I could never get back no matter how much I shook the thing around. http://www.loverslab.com/topic/20076-unnecessary-violence-ii-new-version/?p=607648

I was actually talking about Deadly Reflex v6 on the Nexus. Hasn't received any type of update in almost  a year so it's essentially dead and broken.

For UV, what version are you using? Three? :P

NMM has improved a lot. The only problems I have with my game now are dumb mistakes I make every now and then which can't be attributed to the program at all, I am a derp and make mistakes. Doesn't justify people blaming mods and authors for their stupid shit but likewise it doesn't make someone with a problem automatically a stupid person.

BOSS is discontinued? No. Now it's just called LOOT and it's smart enough to go through your mods detecting what they change and rearranging them to avoid conflict, if conflict is unavoidable it'll give you warnings about it. It can also detect dirty edits, etc. just like BOSS. BOSS was bad because it ran on user-generated master files and human error would make it order things wrongly because hundreds of users would give different opinions on what should go where.

In school, going through my first A+ course I was taught that in order to solve a problem I should do the simplest things first and make the easy checks.

Is the computer connected to the electricity? Is the power button on? Is the monitor on? Etc.

In that same vein, telling someone to check their Load Order is the first order of business when dealing with CTDs and weirdness in games, from then on different things can be determined and worked on if the problem persists. It's the simple things that'll usually catch a person off-guard because we always overlook certain things as we go about troubleshooting a specific problem thinking it might be a big problem when it could be something simple, like putting a Master after a mod dependent on it and causing a CTD.

I'm not attacking you or anything, just saying, you're being a little.. hmm... I can't think of a word in English... confrontative?...

That's not even a word is it? o_O

Confrontational.  I didn't know you're not a native English speaker.  Your posts don't show any signs.  And your English is better than mine, but I have an excuse; I'm a working-class redneck from Texas.

I'm actually Spanish. Been here for a while though, since I was 11 so it's been 9 years.

My English has gotten pretty good but I still get stuck sometimes.

Texas has colourful English from what I've seen you post.

I remember the days when I can look at the hot files for quality shit to download on the nexus and have a blast Now I just see shit.........

That's a poilte way of saying it.  :P  I live in a world of blunt people; oil and natural gas geeks, cattlemen, engineers, and other trades no one really cares about.  We don't mince words and that's why I have a hard time on forums.  All of the word-smithing, circular logic and faux intellectualism just makes my fucking skin crawl.  The way I type is the way I speak in RL.  It's why I got banned from Nexus.

You're very direct then.

I try to be direct when I talk but I end up looking like I'm angry and get taken too seriously OR I can't say things correctly and end up writing an essay about something that could be explained with four words which causes arguments and then, sometimes, flame wars.

My banishment from the Nexus doesn't count because I was genuinely pissed and bashing someone, so.. bleh :v

It doesn't help that I'm like a thousand years old either. :sleepy:

On the internet any identity you might have is largely irrelevant. What you say and do counts more than who you are... usually.

Usually because, if you're on the Nexus or somewhere similar, if you potentially have a pair of tits then you're apparently in the clear no matter what you do.

Looking around it really seems to be the case that female members have much more leeway than a male would.

HA! I'm great, I brought the conversation back on topic!

That's a first for me.
