This is a wonderful, creative, furry race. Unfortunately I am not able to use it unless it's CBBE, all the armor mods and body mods I rely on are that, I've never touched UUNP. Thank you for all your hard work, though. c: It's a very pretty race.

Quite a shame there is no cbbe version at the moment  :(  The mod looks great though, I will certainly follow it in case you do get around to updating it for cbbe again.  :D

May want to check the Spoiler on the Nexus page for the race - seems to not expand at all.

Okay, bit of a draft for Nami's dialog.

N - …
        |
     [PC] (Optional)Who are you?
              |
N – The name is Nami.

[PC] (Optional)What are you doing here?
              |
N – [sigh] I mostly wander around Skyrim. I came to Winterhold recently, wanting to explore the area.
                     |
N – I have heard of the shipwrecks around here, though they are certainly, not secrets.
                           |
N – I was swimming close to this wreck a few days ago, and I did not see anyone on board.
                                 |
N – I did not even have any chance to surface, since I felt myself run through with a damn spear.
                                      |
N – Do you have any idea how bad that hurts?
                                            |
[PC] (Optional)Almost – I think I've felt things just as bad.
                                                    |
N – On top of that, it is HUMILIATING. Like giving a ball of yarn to a Khajiit.

                                           [PC] (Optional)Not really, no.
                                                    |
N – I would say try to imagine it, but that would be in poor taste, would it not?

                                           [PC] What happened next?
                                                     |
N – Exactly? I have no idea. I must have woken up a few hours later in this damn cell.

[PC] Want me to free you?
              |
N – I was hoping you would say that – and I would not have to ask.
                    |
N – Since I am not exactly a damsel in distress, far from it.
                          |
N – But yes. I can offer you my help if you want, since I clearly have nothing else.
                                |
N – May need some armor and weapons, though I am sure the bandits can provide those easily. (Follower option unlocked)

Maybe a bit too obvious to give her the...I think it's "OrangeNami" hairstyle from KS Hairdos, though I'm not sure if that one would have some undesirable clipping issues, or any at all. If not that, perhaps something like the hair in one of these, niis, vexstacy

Already fixed, but thanks for the heads up.

BTW, if you think I could have worded that part better, do let me know if you don't mind. I wasn't sure how to put it.

Like the pics, and like the idea. There isn't any hair with that name in the mod, though, but there are some long styles that may fit the design. A bit of clipping on those, but not that much of a deal. So if you want to create the preset and use one of them, go ahead.

No rush to get it done, though; as I said, it will be at least a month until I get back to working on this.

No, I think that does basically get the point across.

Okay, CBBE patch is live again! I tweaked the textures a bit, and now they should at least be roughly on par with the main ones. Quality isn't perfect, but it's better to have so-so textures than none at all, I guess. Let me know if you come across any issues or seams, but from my testing everything should work as intended.

Looks like the LL page has a problem too - Fume is named twice in the content list, and Moku is not at all, though her description is intact.

Made a choice with Koma's story - rather than the Legacy book, it will be part of another, called "Selachii Stories"(Same no Monogatari).

By same, you mean selachii, or is that supposed to be a Japanese word? Can't do a seach and my Japanese dictionary is packed up for the move. If I assume it's English (same), then it would be spelled "Serachii no Monogatari" (セラチーのものがたり or セラチーの物語). with an "R' instead of an L, but I assume you know that already.

It is a little awkward, but the technical idea is that, at least for the Selachii's use of the language, Same(Seme, Shark) can be used for either "Shark" or "Selachii".

I've been thinking about redoing Mizuno's dialog for a while. I'll be separating things into four parts, [iNTRODUCTION], [GET QUEST DIALOG], [RANDOM LINES], and [GENERAL DIALOG]. Just finished the introduction part.

M -  ...
        |
      [PC]Um, who are you?
               |
M – [PlayerIsASelachii]A student at the College, though I only visit occasionally now. I'm Mizuno, a Sharkm-
                       |
M – Ugh. I am a Selachii. Tell just the right person something once, and it sticks – even if it was a mistake.
                              |
M – But “Sharkmer” was something that did not stick with us for very long. Not sure if you knew that.
                                     |
M – I know it is not common, but I choose to study magic. Shocking, is it not? Go head, tell me how unusual it is, I have heard it before.

M – [PlayerIsNotASelachii]A student at the College, though I only visit occasionally now. I'm Mizuno, and so you do not have to ask I am a sharkm-
                        |
                       M – Dammit, I can't believe I was even about to say that. I am a Selachii.
                              |
[PC] What are you doing out here?
                                     |
M – Thinking. Trying to come to terms with things. Maybe I'll tell you more later.
                                            |
M – But I have been through a lot, both good and bad times.
                                                  |
M – Like recently losing a necklace a good friend gave me...wait, nevermind.
                                                        |
M – I don't need to bore you with my problems. [End Dialog] [Add objective - “Find out more about Mizuno's problem?”]

[PC] [PlayerIsNotASelachii] (Optional)Odd place to be staying, is it not?
                                     |
M – Yes, but I am a Selachii. The weather does not bother me, I can catch fish for food, and I don't exactly need a bed to sleep in.
                                            |
M – That bedroll is here because...well, a friend of mine insisted.
                                                   |
M – But it keeps my mind of of things. I can just relax, and at least think about those events, less.

[PC] [PlayerIsASelachii] (Optional) Seems like a good place to stay.
                                       |
M – Indeed. Weather that does not bother us, a lot of fish to catch, and no real need for a bed.
                                            |
M – Though that bedroll is here because...well, a friend of mine insisted.
                                                    |
M – But it keeps my mind of of things. I can just relax, and not have to think so much.

[PC] [PlayerIsNotASelachii] (Optional) Why are you naked?
                                      |
M – No one really is around to complain. Easier to go for a swim, if I don't have to strip down first. Stare all you want.

[PC] [PlayerIsASelachii] (Optional) Baring it all to the sea?
                                     |
M – Hai(Yes). No need to strip down for a swim.

Also, I am not sure if it is going to work in game, but I've made a warpaint texture. I'm probably going to test it in-game by replacing one if the existing ones, and possibly smoothing it out.

Okay, that does sound a bit better than the current dialog. I'll see if I can get it ingame soon. Not that it would matter, because the next update is still a long way off (no specific ETA yet, but roughly around the time Yiffy Age 3.0 drops sounds like a reasonable estimate), but still.

Also, like the idea of introducing some words or expressions in Japanese Akaviri here and there. It does fit and makes it a bit more realistic. Not really sure how to go about translation, though. The only instance of "foreign" languages ingame is Dovahzul, and whenever it's spoken, it's either said in Tamrielic afterwards (Paarthurnax does this a lot) or not translated at all.

But then again, the PC is stated to not speak Dovahzul (Alduin even uses this fact as a taunt at one point), while a Selachii PC would be expected to actually speak Akaviri as their mother tongue (outside of character-specific RPs/backstories), so perhaps introducing a translation would not be that much of a stretch.

All in all, I'd go for no translation as long as it's not critical. Short expressions or sentences like the "yes" in that fragment can be safely  left untranslated, just like Dovahzul. If you know what they mean because you speak that language or searched for a translation, great, and if you don't, well, they add flavor anyway.

Also, I am not sure if it is going to work in game, but I've made a warpaint texture. I'm probably going to test it in-game by replacing one if the existing ones, and possibly smoothing it out.

This is indeed good news. We're lacking in the tint department pretty badly. The eye tints turned out way better than expected, and the scaled/spotted ones look good enough even though they aren't exactly shark-y; but that's all we have so far.

Do keep me updated on that  :shy:.

Well, one of my ideas is to make the quest so it isn't so linear. I.e, you need the quest active for the Amulet to spawn - even if the tone of the quest suggests that Mizuno loses the Amulet before the player has any chance of encountering him(likely a few days at least, if not a day), but if you find Deekus' camp first? It isn't there. So the Quest section will have both the dialog for getting the quest outright from Mizuno, and dialog for if you already have the necklace - which still involves the same or similar explanation as if you did not have it.

I'm also thinking of a manifest that Deekus would have, which would explain a little about how he found the amulet, and only mention Mizuno vaguely, along with a basic direction as to where his camp is. So if you find the amulet first, then the objective is more like "Find out more about the Amulet", and reading the manifest gives you the quest.

As for the language, I'd hope the tone of what is said after might suggest enough as to what he means by it. I'd rather not do, say, what the Unofficial Patch does for VtM:Bloodlines for Yukie, her Japanese subtitles(i.e for the audio in Japanese), being completely translated, or in parenthesis. Likely if I decide to do an entire line, I'd probably make the character who said it explain, though I'm not really sure of doing that.

It is actually based on the face markings of the character in these images, keishinkae, cooper. Not sure how good it will be by comparison though. And I have to say - that is not a lot of space to work with.

Also, I love the ridges around the eyes with the new version.

Oh, okay. It does sound a bit better than the amulet magically spawning after you speak with Mizuno (thought it's not like the vanilla game doesn't do stuff like that in some quests).

Not entirely sure how to go about it, though, but I will check it out. I assume with all the time before the update comes I will have figured it out by then, but no promises.

Yeah, I agree with that. Better to leave it untranslated and maybe have the character explain/translate it themselves afterwards if it's actually important. Just like it would happen in reality, I guess.

Oh, I see. It does look good, here's to hoping it can translate properly ingame.

And yeah, the head texture and the UVs are not exactly the best they could be, but changing them isn't exactly easy either. I may ask BD for help on editing UVs, he seems to know his way around them, but it's probably not gonna happen until he finishes YA 3.0 and has some free time to put into it, so we'll have to make do with the curent setup for now.

Also, I love the ridges around the eyes with the new version.

I like them as well :shy:. You can thank Nightro for that, he's the one that came up with the idea while building the hi-poly heads for normal baking. I assume he intends to do the same or something similar for females, but he would be the one to confirm it.

Okay, it's looking pretty good already, nice work!

Though I see how finetuning the detail for a better result may be hard, what with the uneven UV and so. Perhaps it would be easier to use actual 3D painting software (as in, that allows you to paint directly on the mesh), but I don't know of any free program that does it. Mudbox does (and that's what I use), but unless you qualify for a free license, Autodesk products are expensive as hell. And I don't think getting it the, huh, Jack Sparrow way is possible either (though I haven't really looked into it). So I guess we're out of luck here  :s.

Huh, I had forgotten about that one. It does include 3D painting, though the tools and options are very limited.

Not really fit for actual diffuse texturing or anything similar, but it should be enough for warpaint/tint creation (which only include the paint design in white over a black canvas), so there's that.

So I don't know if I have anything else that could be effecting it, but for some reason, Fume isn't able to become a follower. RDO says she is set to "Acquaintance" by default. Setting it to "Ally" with RDO does work, though why it does not outright, I'm not sure.

Was trying out Vivi's Cockcage mod, but only for the sake of trying it. Not really my interest. Hence no shots of the character with it.

Something W.I.P for the Legacy book....

A prevalent detail that must be mentioned, is in relation to masturbation, that is, the act of pleasuring oneself. I have seen such a term only mentioned sparsely by the literature published within the Empire, and I am somewhat curious as to why that is. Though the more important part of this, would be that some aspects of it, differ from other races. Perhaps not in a major way, but still in a significant one.

All Selachii have clawed fingernails, which is a fairly well known, and obvious fact. But such a detail may not be thought of in a sexual context, which does bring up a simple question, that being, do they pose a danger during any kind of sexual acts?

"Acquaintance" means RelationshipRank = 0... Which is as good as not having any pre-defined relationship with the player. I either deleted the relationship data entry by mistake or changed it from 1 to 0. Since I had to restore Moku to not being available from the start in order for her quest to make more sense, I may have taken Fume as well by mistake. I'll add it to the To-Do list, but since the update is probably a long way off, in the meantime it can be fixed simply by using "setrelationshiprank player 1" on her using the console. Or using SLEN to win her over via sex, that's a valid option too, lol :P.

Nice shots, and also great about that fragment for the book. The problems that may arise from having claws (specially concerning, huh, intimate matters) are something I hadn't thought about before, but they are a logical topic to discuss, lol. Good catch :shy:.

Two new NPC ideas, one of which I've had for a while.

Akairo, Solitude - A male Selachii, who is in Skyrim for Diplomatic reasons. Need to iron out the details, but his basic purpose is to divulge a few facts, like the Selachii never having a Civil War, that the Selachii had the offer from the Thalmor to join the Dominion, but refused it, etc.

Seika, [To Be Decided] - A Selachii blacksmith, that has a Khajiit lover. This may seem familiar, but I assure you, it is different - both characters are female.

My thought is that she has a blacksmith shop somewhere in Skyrim, though I'm not sure where. Some places lack one entirely, and others have been covered by mods. I mostly use at least Arthmoor's Kynesgrove mod, and Settlements Expanded, which adds a blacksmith outside Whistling Mine in Winterhold, Soljund's Sinkhole(along with a few other houses), and...well, at least those are the ones I know of - most of the others are adding a new village entirely(like Coldstone Mine in the mountains south of Alftand), or adding to Heartwood Mill and Sarethi Farm.

A bit from Mizuno's next entry...

Call me lazy. Go on, I do not care. Not that it really matters. At least, I hope if perhaps that would be true, someone would have told me that by now. Although some of it is due to how the College operates. Certainly the College was not known for stuffy lecture halls, constant classes, boring subjects, and instructors that were as unfriendly as possible. No, instead it was possible for us to lie around most of the day, since again it was about the progress you intended to make, not what you were pressed to. Still, not many students were like this, though most tended to take their time with certain things, especially the ones who engaged in experiments that required some serious conviction, or time away from the College. So when either finished, needing to wait for results, or returning to the College, it was common to relax. Which was done in various ways by most. What I refer to should be obvious, is it not?

In some ways, having Loki around was frustrating. I will say that he certainly was not at the College to fool around, he was serious about his magical education. Some thought of him as something of a prodigy, though not overtly. Simple respect for his talent for magic, nothing more. Myself, it was more that I appreciated his character. In a few ways, really.

Otherwise, he was somewhat open. I did not ask, but once he learned of me and Ko'Maru, he started the conversation himself. Asking about what Selachii think of sex, and more importantly, what I thought about it. While I could certainly tell him that my race looks at it like a thing of beauty, something to be respected, though beyond that, it was not specific. My own ideas were the same, and that I had no problem with it, really.

It was a few days after this conversation that I went down into the Midden, hoping for there to be a few Ice Wraiths down there – which it seems Ko'Maru had an idea for which they could be used. Oddly, I did not really question him on what, before I found myself down there. I found at least two of them, and managed to salvage a few teeth in the pile of ice they left behind. I put them in my bag, and stood to stretch. That was when I heard someone behind me.

I shrugged. The tone of voice I used when I asked him if he was okay with doing something like that down here, was both defeated and yet, somehow cheerful. He seemed to have no problem, since he opened the nearby cupboard, pulling out a soft blanket – telling me he had stashed that down here a while ago, and occasionally came down here to be alone. Though he did not have to, since I worked it out for myself, his usual activity when down here was to masturbate without any fear that he would be discovered. I had the thought where I did not think it really mattered if it did happen, but did not tell him this, since it seemed his want, and I had no problem with it.

Okay, that sounds good, and would add to the race lore too. You would expect them to actually have envoys or some kind of diplomatic contact with the rest of Tamriel. Neat.

Yeah, that can be done. Probably. I guess? Lol.

I've already edited a vanilla location (the Eyrie), so placing a small blacksmith shop/house somewhere should't be that much of a problem. It's only a matter of finding a place where it would fit (both physically and in-lore) that isn't used by other mods already, or at least not by very popular mods, to keep conflcts to the minimum.

A bit from Mizuno's next entry... [..]

Okay, that's interesting. I'm intrigued :shy:
