HDT SMP for SSE?

Recommended Posts

It has already been updated x3! The 3rd build is reportedly excellent and resolves the SMP hair-spazzing issues with the 1st and 2nd builds.

I am using faster hdt smp with 3ba for a while and have no problems since. The performance is much better with it in bigger towns like Whiterun

No, it is only an optional "bounce preset" for the bodies, you can use it and see for yourself, if you like it. But then you must override the 3BA mod with it.

i have an problem with chains, anything with chain or hair physics get lowered to floor hight. i think its a problem with hdt but I'm not sure. any help would be great.

I'm playing special edition.

Install Faster HDT-SMP. Depending on your CPU, you can use AVX, AVX2 or AVX512, and some Nvidia cards support CUDA. So find out what your hardware will support before installing Faster HDT-SMP, or just install the AVX version to start with since almost any CPU made in the past few years supports at least AVX.

Okay, I'm kind of chastising you now.  AVX, AVX2, and AVX512 depend on your processor.  CUDA means you need an nVidia graphics card.  Us the non-CUDA if you have an AMD one.

Yes, I knew that back on 3 December, 2021 when I posted this:

Unless you have a really old CPU (no offense, @CPU :classic_tongue:) you should install the AVX or AVX2 option. I'm using AVX2.

I haven't tested the CUDA scheme on my RTX 2060 Super because those who have, as well as the uploader of Faster HDT-SMP, have posted that it actually slows things down.

Don't know why I typed it in wrong and thanks for catching it. I'm editing my original response in case somebody finds it later in a search.

Well, yes, but even more restrictive, not all Nvidia cards support CUDA.

Oh, thanks.  I've never owned an nVidia card so I wasn't aware of that.

and it is correct, but even though it is compatible, CUDA destroys the FPS (at least in my case)?️?

All the faster SMPs, regardless of which option I fix, cause major borked HDT chains.  Any idea why?

Running a  i7-8700K CPU and gtx 1080ti

Cause SMP doesn't like chains. It's fine if they only connect at one point, but connecting at two or more points is a problem.

Are you talking about DD chains? If they have physics (move, bounce, NOT stiff) and are in the approximate right location (not on the ground) then they're working as well as I could get them. I'm still looking for some miracle worker to improve on my port of them from PE. Some if it is likely XML tweaking, prisoner chains is likely nif work as well as XML. They will probably never be perfect until we get the holy grail where CBPC can read PE XMLs like was teased years ago. There are some minor improvements to the XMLs in 5.2 I think. I did do some additional tweaking recently.

Yes the DD chains I think.  They work perfectly for me with the normal SMP but the second I try the faster SMP they stretch out so the links don't even meet and flail wildly.  Put the old SMP back on and they look like proper chains again.  Its weird.

That may be the options you used to install Faster HDT SMP then. CUDA isn't recommended, so don't check that even if your NVIDIA card supports it. If you don't know your CPU chipset, then just do AVX1. If you're Intel, do AVX1.

If the old one works, make sure  you're installing the one compatible with 1.5.97/skse 2.0.17 - 2.0.20

Yeah tried all options all settings etc they all do the same weird behaviour ?

I highly doubt that Faster HDT-SMP is, technically speaking, a "requirement" for HDT-SMP since it came out after.

However, if you are on the AE version of the game, Faster HDT-SMP is reportedly the only version that works (haven't tested it yet though)

Is Faster HDT-SMP a replacement for HDT-SMP? Can I use Faster HDT-SMP as the requirement for KS Hairdos - HDT SMP (Physics)?

Which version Faster HDT-SMP should I use if I have gtx 1660 super?

As suggested by the name of the "Faster HDT-SMP" mod, Faster SMP is HDT-SMP, so yes, it is a direct replacement for (and significant improvement over) earlier iterations of SMP Physics engines including hydrogensaysHDT's originals from 9damao and aers's later overhaul on the Nexus. It works with both SSE and SAE.

You need to find out what special instruction sets your CPU supports (e.g. SSE, AVX, AVX2) so you can select the best version for your particular hardware during the Faster SMP installation. You can find this info by looking your CPU up on the Intel website if it's an Intel product. I assume there is a similar website for AMD users but I don't know. I have read somewhere that since the AVX instruction set is an Intel product, no AMD chip supports it, just as AMD-based graphics adapters can't support Nvidia's proprietary CUDA instruction set.

And yes, "direct replacement" means you can use Faster SMP to satisfy the "requires HDT-SMP" requirement of any mod.

AMD cpus do support AVX and AVX2.  They don't support AVX512.  I'd suggest getting other people who ask about requirements to get CPU-Z and GPU-Z in order to get what their CPUs and GPUs support.
