The first sentence is true but erosion of liberties is not restricted to first world issues. Erosion of liberties has been an issue for thousands of years. The platitudinous second statements is belied by all the current outrage on the web surrounding the UK's Online Safety Act.

It's to the point with shows that I rate their quality based on how little of them I skip over. Too many boring flashbacks and, to me, pointless "poignant" nonsense like eulogies at funerals, tender pillow talk and the fucked up personal lives of the characters. I like suspense shows, detective shows. espionage shows, that sort of thing, and all of that ancillary emotional stuff almost always feels like the writers were scripting by the numbers. So that's the kind of stuff I skip over. Sometimes it actually ties into and furthers the story, but usually it just dangles there, a sub-plot I care nothing about.

I was looking through my photo album on my phone earlier and saw some photos I took during a vacation to Italy. It’s a beautiful country and I had a good time while I was there, but it made me think of something that I’d like to ask any of the Western European people on this site:

 

What the fuck are y’all putting in your alcohol? Every time I drank a cocktail or some wine in Italy, I would be fucked up afterwards. Is American alcohol just extremely watered down, or do Europeans just guesstimate when they measure the ABV of something?

 

Side note: best Long Island ice tea I’ve ever had was in Rome. I stumbled around outside the coliseum imagining gladiators fucking shit up in ye olde times. Shit was dope.
