landess Posted June 27, 2025 Posted June 27, 2025 Sex is like Golf . . . . We spend more time lining up our shot than taking it.

The GIF reminds me of a scene from The Wheel of Time. When the Aiel Wise Ones tell Aviendha that it's time to give up her warrior ways and become their apprentice, one of them takes Aviendha's spears and breaks them over her knee. All three at the same time. A person could not break one spear shaft over their knee, let alone three at once. 1

Darkpig Posted June 29, 2025 Posted June 29, 2025 Straight people are allowed at pride too. But dressed like that are you sure you're straight?
porkybork Posted June 30, 2025 Posted June 30, 2025 (edited) Double Stuffed Oreos are what normal Oreos should be. The cookie to cream ratio in normal Oreos is too cookie heavy. Edited June 30, 2025 by porkybork

Better than telling people you are straight during pride. Just sounds like people who are in denial about their gayness. I'm sure most Gay people, Bi people and Pan people have said that at some point. Probably better to tell people you are an ally.

Not exactly to your point, but I hate parades and such, regardless of the reason, cause or purpose. I don't like large, anonymous get-togethers in general. So I have never gone to a Pride parade or any other kind of Pride event. And I most likely never will. I'm fine speaking in front of large groups of people, but I don't like being in large crowds of strangers where I'm just mingling. Which sounds contradictory, perhaps counter-intuitive, but there it is. They can decide for themselves whether or not I am an "ally." I don't need to label myself any particular thing for someone else's purposes. Edited July 1, 2025 by chocula

They did all that they could with the 'source material' which clearly was not much. Forbushman had a larger presence in comic books. Maybe an MCU adaptation for this joke character is in the works? Having a woman portray Julius Caesar would be one thing. Essentially turning a cartoon character from male to female (which I realize is not exactly what is going on)? Why the fuck does anyone care?

Now on to the noisy month of July.

Besides simpler issues like character design, there is also the issue that the conversion is rarely ever smooth. When the character is not carelessly changed without consideration for the impact that their different gender has on their role in the plot or interactions between characters, there is just enough effort made by switching to another character in the same setting who just doesn't have much source material in the altered role for them to works as well as the other character. It can potentially go over well if a bit more thought goes into it as was the case with the Silent Hill movie adaptation but this case is more like taking a knight from an old tale and swapping roles between him and the princess he is questing to earn the favor of. It leads to the audience wondering why the princess feels the need to impress a knight.

Male Silver Surfer, female Silver Surfer, White James Bond, Black James Bond, etc., etc., etc. People need to, as they say, get the fuck over themselves. 2

I wouldn't be surprised if there was already a female Silver Surfer. Marvel loves their "What if" scenarios.

I'd like to see that just for the sake of it. Edit: I would rather they not be pissed. People being pissed is what causes hate towards minority groups. People just need to get used to seeing others who are not like them. That is why we need a more diverse cast of characters in fiction. It is not forced diversity. People just exist.
