I use a stainless steel Casio digital watch that I bought nearly 20 years ago - still using the battery that came with it. Only gains 4 minutes every 6 months, which I reset every time I change it for daylight savings. It shows me the time, date and day of the week. I only paid AU$125 for it.

_ Yeap, decades ago, everything made lasted longer. My parents still have many products that still working. My dad, for instance still have radio device from '70's that still works and he wouldn't change it for no gold in the world although he can't catch many radio signal since everything is digitalized.

To be fair, one of the most attractive features of the watch I opted for was that it's solar, meaning I'll never have to replace a battery, so essentially, it will last for quite a while.  A 2018 model.  Analogue; no bells & whistles - not even a light...lol  It marks time.

 

Yes, for the large part though, things aren't built to last anymore.  They break, so you buy a new one.

I'm using pocket watches to tell the time, it's more classy with the chains and all and I've been growing a small collection for a while now.

 

My favourite is a pitch black steel of which the clock inside is a smooth black adorned with silver, the hours are in a roman format, of silver inlaid with ruby. It's rather smooth, balanced between matte and glossy and simply shaped overall and is heavy and never breaks nor dents and I just somehow really like its blend between rugged and elegant looks.

 

It's a gift from Master for my last Birthday.
