LyvinDLyfe Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 You can usually find me listening to some sweet Soca or Calypso music, my absolute favorites are Stylee Band, Stroka Band, Monéa, R. City (2Equipt, Rock City, Planet VI, and whatever foolishness they are going by these days), Kes, Olatunji, Machel Montano, and of course Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights, I love some Quelbe music for Festival season.

Bazinga Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 Rock, pop, alt country, folk, some other stuff if it catches my interest. Never really was a fan of one single band because they all repeat themselves after a while but I'm quite fond of (in alphabetical order because fuck you memory and thanks Spotify ): Bob Dylan Calexico Creedence Clearwater Revival The Decemberists Elvis Elvis Constello Flogging Molly The Handsome Family La Maison Tellier Leonard Cohen Lindi Ortega Manic Street Preachers The Mountain Goats The National Old 97's everything Pete Doherty Pink Floyd Shovels & Rope The Smashing Pumpkins Tom Waits The Wave Pictures and finally Zaz also lots of other artists like the Stones, The Smiths, Uriah Heep, Suede etc, no need to name all of them though, these were the ones that stand out for me at this moment in time. I'm German but our music generally sucks ass. I could only name Die Ärzte, Extrabreit and Rammstein as bands that have more than 1 song I enjoy listening to. Maybe some more obscure newer stuff like AnnenMayKantereit and Kraftklub but their stuff gets old very fast imo. Well, they still have time to grow I guess. I hear a lot of stuff that's mainstream too, I have no shame whatsoever. Stuff that catches my interest are nice harmonies (yes, I like Abba, sue me), anything with a guitar or piano, interesting voices, showing off instrumental skillz, and if I like it but can't exactly say why (like The Wave Pictures). I couldn't care less about electronic music but I love dancing to it nevertheless. Atm I'm celebrating Dewey Cox. Honestly made my day, although hard to get through the first minutes of the movie because that satire is so over the top that it hurt my sensibilities a little. ^^ But boy was it worth it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UP5YFr4SkCQ or in his Bob Dylan protest song phase: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ADpsIb7vfs 1
AlmaBrasileira Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 1. I listen to many genres of music but my favorite ones are rock, jazz, samba, bossa nova, mpb and vanguarda paulista. I'm a rock listener since I was born, haha. Because my dad likes rock artists and bands like David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Queen or Budka Suflera, Łzy. I started to listen to Brazilian music about December 2016 when I heard "Latin Fusion" by Kiko Loureiro and I began to discover artists like Tom Jobim, Caetano Veloso or bands like Passo Torto. 2. Yep, music is very important for me. I play three instruments: bass, guitar and drums, and I'm thinking about fourth instrument - piano. 3. No. My favorite bands and artists: Edu Falaschi Andre Matos Almah Angra Shaman Passo Torto Dignatátios do Inferno ...and more. My list is long so I decided to mention only 7 of my favorites. And of course all of them are Brazilian.

Stross97 Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Recently found some lesser known bands in the progressive rock/ psychedelic rock kind of areas. I would definitely recommend a listen. This is a more hard rock but still great. Hurt - Rapture https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NThCh-_mgag Hurt - Adonai https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ymxuji2sUzg&t= Hurt - Danse Russe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWfoaeIjxis For a more music oriented ProgRock/ psychedelic rock...: The Mayan Factor - Warflower https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkxjPjmUyBQ The Mayan Factor - Ventriloquist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niS4rJtbPcg The Mayan Factor - Nothing Really https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcuAtCRBAVw For a more, albeit confusing, lyricism based band: Fair to Midland - Dance of the Manatee https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjW-j2PAv-I Fair to Midland - Walls of Jericho https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhFJvIZfB_s Hope you enjoy!!
Ernest Lemmingway Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 I know I've answered this somewhere else before, but maybe not on this site. My musical tastes are very eclectic. I'm not a huge fan of everything--or even the majority--of what any one band or musician makes except for a few like Michael Jackson (RIP), Journey, Tom Petty, Rush, and Nelson. The genres I'm not a fan of are gangsta rap, western, and country. My (legally downloaded and on CD) collection includes bits and pieces of damn near everything else. So it's hard for me to definitively nail down anything specific.

farlibarcai Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 Been revisiting some old school Colombian metal band. It turned into a rather progressive rock style but it returned to the roots before the lead vocal died last year. Spoiler

Di3sIrae Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 Hum my father always liked rock so i grew up listening to KISS, Ramones, Nirvana and this kind of thing. When i started to listen to music on my own, that i really liked, it was rammstein, tuatha de dannan, type o negative (yes, pretty mixed up), and when i discovered japanese vrock i was listening almost only to it. Though i can pick some favs, like Rentrer en Soi, OZ, NEGA, exist†trace, UnsraW. Then... i do not really remember how and why, i discovered Septic Flesh... and it was the begining of a new musical phase for me. I even have one of their symbols tattooed in my arm lol After that, it was kind of death/doom/symphonic metal, but i like a lot of things. For example... I've been listening to Armaroth, Elbereth, Orgy, Ocean of Grief, On Thorns I Lay, Empyrium, Bella Lune, Swallow the Sun, Three Days Grace, Cemetery of Scream... A whole lot of different styles and bands, but i do like the more "atmospherical" ones. Last band i discovered that i liked was Terra Tenebrosa.
