I doubt you'll like Fallout 4. Just don't complain if it doesn't live up to your expectation because you already know what to expect out of Bethesda.

Obsidian can keep their stench and dirty fingers off Fallout. If they are so good, they can make their own post-apoc game and all the fanbirdies can flock their way to their game and enjoy what they consider a better game and storyline. Maybe Bethesda is willing to sell them FNV since a lot of FNV fans have been eager for a New Vegas 2 for a long time.

Speaking for myself, I couldn't care less about lore or storylines.  I want an open world rpg that I can add my own content to.  And I want interesting dungeons to explore (both NewVegas and Skyrim were epic fails on that aspect).  As long as I get a stable vehicle to work with (again, epic failures with NewVegas and Skyrim) I'll be happy.

I want it for a FPS with RPG elements that's going to be a huge timesink to just disappear into. I will be plesantly surprised if it's an actual RPG, but I'm not counting on it. From the get go I'm just going to assume you'll get pidgeoned into a specific role to fulfill through the storyline, and that most decisions you make are really not going to matter at all once the end credits roll, there's a 90 % chance that the guy that killed everyone he saw including friendly NPCs will get the same endings as the guy who tried his best to not kill anyone at all.

Just with differents biks and Ron Pearlman voice overs.

No that's for the Director's Cut version to be published about a year later. In the one that ships we get the same voiceover, with three different colored slides of the same cinematic, and they hired the janitor to stand in because Pearlman got busy getting his dick sucked.

(Expect the worst and never be disappointed is what I say.)

Translation: Bethesda don't want to give Lover's Lab their creation kit until after the holiday sales, just in case Wal Mart decides to ban them again.

Okay so there's a bit more to it this time around with the multiple formats, but that's the gist of it.

New Vegas had the more interesting characters

I disagree. NV suffered badly from pretentious dialogue and overexposed characters. The companions being the most obnoxious.

Veronica: Yeah you know, I kinda like the BoS because they're family for me but duuuuuh, they're so stubborn! Like, can you believe that?!

Cass: Dude, I'm a badass bitch who fucks around and doesn't take shit from nobody and drinks a lot. Have I mentioned that I'm a badass bitch who fucks around and doesn't take shit from nobody and drinks a lot?

Gannon: Maaan I'm so conflicted because of my past. Also I'm gay.

Boone: Fuck the legion. I've seen shit. I miss my wife. I miss my wife. I've seen shit. Fuck the legion.

All that wouldn't be much of a problem if the devs wouldn't try to shove always the same shit down your throat, but NV is all in your face with the deep, deep and troubled human beings that are actually really bland and one-dimensional. Obsidian just hid that in plain sight by adding tons of  empty and meaningless lines for each companion.

All of that is still vastly better than Fallout 3's equivalent characters, who were eyecandy at best, just like almost all Skyrim followers. Sure it's still leagues beyond the like of Bioware writing and companions but I'll take what I can get.

To be honest I mostly used Willow for NV when I used companions anyway, and 80 % of the time went solo. :P I kept the vanilla ones in party until I'd done their quests, then dumped them back at the hotel and rotated in the next. But at least I actually had a reason for bringing them along other than cannon fodder and baggage carriers.

Thanks for the link.

For the mod dudes, you're going to have to wait, as Bethesda won't release mod tools till after the game ships. They currently are looking at 2016, so they can have time to make them, as they're working on bugfixing and general polish.

Pretty much expected that.  At the end of the video it did confirm one thing I suspected; Bethesda.net will be a mod site.  This is a good thing.

As far as followers go, no one beats Jericho for dialogue.  His random comments color dialogue were just funny, though Butch had some good ones too.  I was never entertained by the followers in NV and I fucking hated Cass.  She's a pig and her lines are disgusting.  Nothing cute, funny or sexy about her.

As long as they don't force a mod manager that only accepts mods from Bethesda.net. They're not going to of course, and it would take the russians a month tops to crack it, but even so, thinking the worst again here...

That would be tall wall for Dark0ne to scale; the only way to mod FO4 is to crack it.  *dies laughing*  It wouldn't be a big deal for anyone but Nexus.

The characters and story in FO3 was bad alright, but at least it was just background noise most of the time. Easy to ignore, unlike FNV.

Dont have a problem to wait for a whole year or even more to buy the game, also found it hilarous when Hines said “Nobody cares about mods if the game sucks” because thats exactly how i felt about their games without mods xD

ikr! After playing fully modded F3, NV and Skyrim I always question myself how I managed to finish the vanilla games multiple times after their release

Im sure paid mods will only be used on console versions.

Nah, Obsidian can't write for shit. They can't create a dangerous world. They are history and I'm glad because they suck.

Dead Money was the only worthwhile DLC. All the rest were junk.

They're still miles better than Bethesda's writing team. All I'm saying is New Vegas is better than FO3. And to be honest, I don't even like the new FO games anyway. We should've gotten Van Buren.

Obsidian's only good game, in my opinion, was Mask of the Betrayer. I never really enjoyed KOTOR2, and their Ass Effect clone was terrible.

They should just outsource their writing to Harebrained Schemes, because they do not suck. :)

People who spout this bs about new Vegas being better are delusional. New vegas had horrible storyline, character development and world.

I kinda agree while FONV had alot more content the story line was way worse and tbh after listening to 3 Dog and his commentary the radio station sucked in NV.  Hope they give 4 better treatment.  I also wish FO3 had done some kinda DLC or something about the Mutants garrisoned at the Mall instead of just background scenery and NPC's to kill.

Yes.. what Mogie56 said..

:D..

If you DO WANT THIS THREAD LOCKED.. keep it up. Keep bickering about what game was better and it is likely some moderator will lock this thread. Just like the Nexus threads before.

It makes sense that the newest Fallout created would be the biggest. in actual size. (thanks Mogie56). I believe and correct me if I a wrong with all the info being thrown about.. The map of FAllout 4 will also be more complete. Todd Howard mentioned (I believe he did at least) that the buildings and such will be able to be interacted with. If that has been completed that will be a major move forward on their part for these games. To many times I walked up to a building and nothing..

The FO3 map is actually 'bigger' than what we see on the Pipboy.  The downtown DC neighboorhoods inside the ruins occupy more surface area than allocated on the map.  They are pocket world spaces.  If you selected every object in the world space, copied and then pasted them into the wasteland wilderness cell they represent on the map; they would overlap or spill out into the wasteland itself.  I might not be explaining this very clearly, but the FO3 map available for game play is bigger than people think it is.

I understand that.. strange as it seems. That  is why I like the concept that Todd Howard stated that there is lots of buildings and such to search and stuff. It might not be gigantic but should be more than large enough to entertain users for quite some time. It took hundreds of hours for me to explore most of the FO3 areas and I am sure I have missed some spots :D. That is even before added mods and DLCs.

I liked the approach that was taken with FO3 over the approach with FNV.. It seemed right from the start that the size was artificially enhanced because you had to go around the map and less "free" because if you decided to skilp and go through you got your ass handed to you. (low level character)

When I left the vault in FO3.. I had a more free feeling. It fit quite well with the story.. (I guess the FNV also fit with the story since you had to learn what was going on and "catch up" with Benny and gain evidence to what was gong on. so there was that ).  I remember a friend going off to Springfield and north totally missing the fact that the first quest was started in Megaton. Reach level 10 before he even realized that he was going in the wrong direction.. lol

EDIT: Nvm... read the page before,  didn't read what was a few posts above mine.

All i care about really is modding. Sure, I'll finish the vanillia game once or twice (though mods that enhance the questline increase that (Like the TTW mod we have here :P)) but after that it's just full-blown modding and killing.  Thought about asking for november off for work, but I know it's better for december because it'll be patched by then....

Right now i'm just waiting for Fallout Shelter. I'm a happy (poor) android user that got passed up for FOS and i'm mad.

Btw I was watching the crafting vid again and I thought, if we can salvage everything from the environment, doesn't that mean that certain places will be completely naked after while? And they will increase through time because you will need more and more resources to expand your "town".

It seems like you can only salvage from areas designated as build-able areas.  I guess it's possible that you can also scavenge select items from other areas as well, similar to botany in Skyrim.
