Skyrim hates quicksave.  A save made that way will function for a little while, but after multiple cell changes weird things happen like the player controls freezing or npcs gliding over the ground without moving their legs.

Posted

Yeah I've heard those rumors too. I run max amount of mods, and I quicksave all the time, and I have no such issues. Neither have anyone else who've done the following;

Occasionally instead of loading your quicksave or even your character, load a new charactrer, preferably in the Live Another Life cell, newly created, you can create a new character for this. The act of changing characters clears your save and cleans up your scripts, you can now load even quicksaves that resulted in CTD. Reason to this is because even if you quit the game, Skyrim still remembers the scripts and shit that was in your save previously, the only way to unload this is to change characters. Get too many scripts running at once and yes you will see weirdness like that.

What Kendo describes with NPCs gliding is actually a FNIS bug related to special walk and idle animations on female characters, it can happen regardless of quicksaves.

Man I'm starting to think Microsoft has done something to force everyone to upgrade to win 10, I've never had so much trouble getting Skyrim, Now Fallout New Vegas to work. all of a sudden I'm getting this damn 0xc000007b error even though .NetFramework is installed. they were working just fine before all this Win 10 happened. I finally got it to work in Win 10 but I had to do a clean install of Win 10, now this shit is starting up in Windows 7. they better get this shit sorted out before Fallout 4 gets here. I look on the web and there are millions of complaints about this but no bloody solutions. or at least none that work. I really do not want to reinstall windows 7 yet again.

Sorry this probably should of gone in the rant thread.

Oddly enough, I'm having no problems with Windows 10 and Skyrim or any of the Fallouts.

In any case, let's just steer it back to FO4 now...

Anyone up to watching the Gamescom stream for potentially more gameplay vids?

I don't like save connected to mod can lead mess up but I want to same GTA 4 or 5 use save less without mods connected to save

I don't know what you're trying to say here but I'm assuming it will be this:

"I don't want the saves to be tied with my mods. However, I also want the saves to be separate just like how GTA 4 and 5 do theirs."

At this stage, we don't know. So far, Todd Howard did say that they're trying their best not to have the corrupted save debacle that Skyrim had. I won't post the interview as you can probably Google it easily.

So far, more info has been posted about Fallout 4 and the interesting thing is that there is no level cap. So essentially, you want to be the superhero? Be our guest. :)

That's the problem when you have a scripting engine that's runs separate with the game engine instead of being integrated like GTA's.

In terms of GB size, we don't know. But we will know the specifications very soon, perhaps at the end of  this month by the earliest.

Now might be the best time to voice our modding needs to Bethesda. Easy accessibility to everything plus tools and instructions please, not just an overhyped level editor.

I'm sure everyone's already dreaming up some big plans, so let's make sure there are no technical cock road blocks in the way.

In response to the whole 'do we just grab random stuff lying around hoping it will be useful until we get to a crafting station and then find out if it is or isn't' and then try to remember what the useful stuff was so that we can find it again' issue. It would be interesting if you pip-boy now had the ability to be upgraded. Perhaps some of the things that you can craft using junk lying around are upgrades that can be 'integrated' with you pip-boy. A better flashlight could be one, one that doesn't just put out a small ring of ambient light but an actual spot light flashlight and then perhaps with another upgrade a flood light. Another upgrade could be a junk scanner. The idea behind that would be that out in the field you could scan items with you pip-boy and you could see right away what components are inside the piece of scrap. This would help with trying to remember all the different odds and ends that contain useful but more obscure and less intrinsically identifiable components. In New Vegas the crafting materials themselves were just littered around so there was no issue of identifying the component so much as trying to remember what it was used for. Sounds like in the new game those components are going to be also integrated into larger items that have to be broken down before you can access their components. A pip-boy scanner would be really really helpful for this. Perhaps the second or third tier upgrade for the scanner would then actually tell you what recipes the components you just scanned would be used for. Then you could be picky choosy about what junk you picked up since it wouldn't be just a grab fest for everything.

They already started they finished the game before announcing it, apparently they just working on fixes and adding small things to big things.

what i heard anyway

Pip Boy upgrades will come in mod form (as Perks if Fallout 3 is anything to go by) if it's not included in the base game.

As for respawning junk... well if the raiders you cleared out respawns, they'd probably gather some new junk from various places (bringing them with them wherever they come from) and rebuild their base wouldn't they? Makes sense for that at least.

Respawning stuff; when the cell resets everything respawns except leveled activators and unique opponents, or at least that's how Skyrim works.  Since Skyrim is their latest game they will probably carry that over.  It might not be like FO3 where once you clear out all of the Raiders (or whatever) and loot everything it stays that way from then on.

It is finished, they are just  including more bugs to break the game even more. You know, it's their trademark.

duuh, so the people that create unofficial patches have something to do, its totally planned like that

I don't know if it's 'planned' but it always works out that way when they start streamlining quests and dialogue and removing the software they don't have the rights to redistribute.

Anybody has seen leaked gameplay?

It feels like a Fallout 3 with mods. I'm not suprised but those overhyped goys sure will be. Ghouls instead of Draugrs heh.

Gamescom gameplay is getting deleted as quick as possible by Bethesda, so its very hard to find a still alive link.

Well they have been doing this for years, taking the more popular mods and redoing them, like we saw the building homes and defense system, there was already something like that for FO3 or New Vegas as far as i remember.

When i first saw the trailer and Todd Howard was talking about lighting and weather i thought im looking at Climates of Tamriel mod lol.

I am waiting for Fallout 4 (already bought as pre-release.)

And for sure I will have an head start because its "Creation Kit" will be pretty much the same as Skyrim, and the Papyrus will not have huge changes. (p.s. I am a Skyrim modder.)

But I don't know.

I already planned to do a full new mod for Skyrim (sex related) and is a project that will take months to be fully completed.

Will I stop my Skyrim mods? Probably not. But for sure, if I will find FO4 more attractive (I doubt because of the gender/environment/ambient) probably i will spend more time modding it than Skyrim.

Just keep in mind that people is still doing mods for FO3 and oblivion that are pretty old games.

p.S. I just started to do modding for Mass Effect 3, just for fun.
