Kendo 2 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Watched the video (thanks for the link, btw). Right off the bat, there are load doors. The other things I noticed is there looks like a lot of recycled FO3 content in FO4. The computer terminal looks the same as does the lock picking interface. And I wonder why they haven't shown the player in melee combat? My guess; it is going to be second fiddle the way FO3 melee was. I have the feeling guns and ammo are going to be all over the place...again.
Feliks Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I'll be honest having just recently jumped into modding myself and having been around here and other mod places for god knows how long, this won't be a problem. People are still modding FO3, FONV, Oblivion, hell, I know a guy still turning out shit for KOTOR. Skyrim modding won't die, some people might move to the new game, some people will stay, some will do both (Looking forward to new opportunities afforded by sci-fi over pseudo norse.) but Skyrim's gonna keep getting modded until at least TES VI and probably well after that.
Kendo 2 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I will play FO4 and if I like it I will mod it. If I don't like it (like I do not like Skyrim) then I'll mod just enough to make the game enjoyable. I made a ton of mods for Oblivion, FO3 and NV. I don't think I've made 1/10th of what I have in the past for Skyrim. The game doesn't do it for me. When FO3 was released there were a lot of Oblivion modders who did not play it or mod for it. Sword and sorcery fans will remain so and not everyone is excited about FO4. Also consider that real mod tools are only available months after release. There won't be a FO4 Geck and there won't be scripts for nifscope, Blender or 3DMax. That means the only 'modding' will be fake hi-rez retextures and MAYBE some cracked esps to change a few game settings. I'm pretty sure modders will continue with Skyrim until real tools are released. In that time people might find out FO4 is not to their liking. I thought within two days of playing Skyrim that it sucked. I played it like it was a one shot console game, uninstalled it and went back to FO3 and NV. I only reinstalled Skyrim maybe a year and half ago and it still doesn't hold my attention for very long. People won't wholesale abandon Skyrim because they love it, just like not everyone falling in love with FO4.
cowgoesmoo Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 im looking forward for the mods on consoles i really hope they let you script on it and not just mod a few things like add gun/ammo/armor/weapons and bodies
shadowlord445 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 At about 2:34-2:36, that looks like melee combat, not positive though

They adore modding community but they dont support modders. Its so painfull to mod anything for skyrim, you have mess with the ancient tools and mechanics in order to get to work a simple mesh mod to work. Im 100% sure they use latest Autodesk stuff, every AAA does.
Vioxsis Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Hopefully they did the subway system for Boston, be nice to see Metro Alive and DCSubway(Boston Subway) in FO4. Of course with the ability to build in FO4 who knows what might happen with that. Bethesda make the best metro. Do you think they will do helmets again or use the system setup for the vertibirds with the axis locked?

windpl Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Did it showed something new? Recent coverage is a bit disturbing, F4 looks more like poor clone of COD games than fallout.
ElectricSheep Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 and this kind of shit has the potential to fuck things up for actual fans moreso then anything else and make the final product even more restrictive. How so?
ElectricSheep Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 there's no sense in me trying to explain it. Maybe there's no sense in the first place.
spoonsinger Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 there's no sense in me trying to explain it. Maybe there's no sense in the first place. There is no statement so absurd that no philosopher will make it(*) (*) probably paraphrased.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Why would they ruin some features for everyone else over 1 person who uploaded his smartphone recorded video? That would seem to be a bit selfish from bethesda to go with the whole "a few bad apples spoils the bunch". It's not Pornhubs fault it was uploaded there. The person did mislead the video with different tags and a title of what the video actually was in order to get it up in the first place and it bypassed their system. And really it's hard to blame the guy for posting it to begin with when Bethesda is being far too secretive with releasing any more info on the game. I mean it's near release and we still hardly know shit about it.
BruceWayne Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 If there is one thing that Bethesda knows really well, than it is how to generate hype. Why wouldn't they release this footage for everyone? Because generating hype is a science and they figured out when to release information and trailers for maximum effect on initial sales. That's why they hound down every shred of shaky phone-footage now. If people see it this way, they won't have the crucial timing effect and the impact of the footage is further diminished by the fact that it is very low quality.
ElectricSheep Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Why would they ruin some features for everyone else over 1 person who uploaded his smartphone recorded video? Why would they do that over a million of ppl? I mean, "fuck it up" or make it "more restrictive" because some footage was leaked. If anything, they should do otherwise and try to improve the lackluster aspects of the game that were exposed. And after watching the footage I see there may be a good reason for them to be secretive about it. Bethesda was always about hype and bullshit marketing.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I am not aware how they market their games since my existence with Bethesda games didn't start till early 2010 so I have no idea how the hype was for Fallout 3. I didn't pay any attention to the hype of New Vegas, nor Skyrim for that matter since back then I wasn't into TES.
Sacremas Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Main reason they shut down the footage was because of it's bad quality potentially giving customers a bad impression. And even then they dont' want to release more gameplay trailers yet because they want to build up the anticipation, so anything non-offiical will get squashed even if it's good quality, any other game (or movie) company would have and have done the same, this should be obvious.
ElectricSheep Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 As for restrictive? how about the next QuakCon where everyone gets scanned with metal detectors if anything is found you don't get in period but the point is EVERYONE has to pay the price for one idiot. Except you were talking about the game: (...) and make the final product even more restrictive. As for the presentation, the material was of low quality to begin with and some non-mainstream journos actually reported on this; it displayed barely anything beside combat, which despite being improved was still far from impressive.
ElectricSheep Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 What the hell are you talking about? I'm not defending the guy, nor bashing him for that matter. I was merely responding to your statement that struck me as ridiculous. Calm your fanboyism.
Sacremas Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 In case you were wondering exactly how much that guy who bought Fallout 4 for bottlecaps actually paid, MatPat's done the calculations;
Gameplayer Posted August 16, 2015 Author Posted August 16, 2015 What a deal, I need to get some bottlecaps right away!
Rayblue Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Looked up Laura Bailey, holy shit she's lent her voice in everything, hundreds of games. a lot of anime. And Saints Row 3 and 4.
Sacremas Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 And she voiced this girl called Serana from some game I've never heard of. Ron Pearlman is the TV guy in the first trailer that came out, with the dog, he's quite skilled. He was also the narrator in the original Fallout 1, in 1997, and has been in all the others, so he's likely to stick around. Michael Dorn, Mattew Perry, Michael Hogan, Felicia Day, Malcolm McDowell, Liam Neeson, etc, don't expect any of these people to return, they voiced a specific role, the ones who survived may show up in a New Vegas 2, particularily Michael Dorn (he was in Fallout 2 as well). Actors for Doctor Li and Three-Dog are back (in audio tapes if nothing else), and there's a very good chance that they'll work Harold into it, given he's been in three games so far, despite having taken root in the DC wastelands. Possibly having been killed doen't count, you could kill him in Fallout 1 and 2 as well (blowing up the town he was mayor of with a nuclear explosion was an option in Fallout 2 to complete a quest for Vault City). I wouldn't be surprised if Harkness shows up, Moira is another good option.
ElectricSheep Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 may show up in a New Vegas 2 One can only hope.
