Do you think we could mod exoskeletons like that power armor from the trailer ???

How cool it'd be to create your own mesh with your own armor ? Already thinking about scripting some sex mods around that, like having some mecha tentacles inside the cockpit of your armors and an orgasm meter and whenever you move the meter would rise with some muffled moaning sounds coming from the armor ...

Okay now I'm thinking about tbbp power armor, laughing like an idiot.

Like a Pain Dampener from Shadowrun!!!

Some more interesting details from the Spiegel interview Kotaku is referencing (aside from no paid mods):

As with other Beth-games, you will be restricted to one follower at a time (which you can switch out at any time).

The robot will be a companion.

The pre-War section will not be "very long" and it'll only play in the starting settlement.

Player settlements can only be build in pre-determined plots. However, there will be no restrictions in these zones.

There won't be any micro-transactions.

I hate those kind of answers "We have now plans for it now but as you know plans change harhar"

I bet their plan now is to have mods on all platforms but if things will go smoothly there is no way they will miss the money.

Maybe it won't be FFA where anyone can just slap price on their mod, maybe it will be moderated thing but mods on all platform? You think they won't squeeze this golden duck?

Well if you remember (not sure how old ya'll are) while in first grade and beyond it was getting under your desk that would save you from an Atomic Blast or Earth Quake, and then when the all clear was sounded you could safely go out to the playground............AND MELT. :)

That was actually referenced in the original Fallout games, with the "Remember kids, Duck and Cover!" hence the name of the skill book.

Interesting prediction but from the time of detonation to the time of blast field contact it is rather short, at that distance it would of been more like blast turned to dust, the brain would have exploded from the intense heat and turned to dust an instant later. for that prediction to work Vault-tec would have had to thrown up a major force field to protect those waiting to get in.

True enough, if we're talking real-world nukes and their effects. But there is obviously something different about the Nukes in Fallout that make them less powerful or behave differently for some reason. The D.C. Ruins in FO3 should have been far more devastated. The White House, for instance, apparently took a direct hit - yet the buildings on the adjacent block are still in fairly decent shape. The nukes you actually set off over both the Courier's Mile and Megaton do not damage your player character at all, yet have roughly similar lag-times between their detonation and the arrival of the shock-wave compared to the bomb shown in the trailer (roughly 4 vs 6 seconds by my count).

I don't think Bethesda would allow a little thing like a real world representation of the power and effects of nukes to get in the way of what they think would be a good story telling device.

I might not mind a less focus on skill, always wanted to try a low int character, but getting shaft on skill point every level is a huge no for me.

Just never ever bring back that level your skills...but not too much, and make sure you level them evenly or else you will fuck up your stats gains from Morrowind and Oblivion.

but he doesn't find one till he's been outside in the wasteland and it's on or next to a skeleton in what looks like the bed of a truck. what they show as an emerge may not be his first time out,

What if there was a scene beforehand that we didn't see? Maybe the family bought some kind of exoskeleton? Or... I don't know. But there is no way the main char survived that, and there is no way he is the only survivor if he did. If you watched the expo, you'll remember Todd pointing out that the baby does reflect the genes of the parents...

Maybe there was a fridge nearby?! :D

According to FNV, that doesn't work.

That's because the Official E3 showcase had the room filled with a bought crowd. It's done purposely. Mainly the front 3 rows I would say. It's all part of the show to stir up the intensity. Make them look good.

That laser musket looks pretty rad !

Just, the power armor, it's not story locked right ? Like, you won't have access to it only during some missions I hope ? It looks cool, mecha and shit, but dude I wanna carry it with me and go places with it ! They'll make some sort of delivery system like on those old school animes where an airship drops the mecha somewhere, I'm almost sure of it. Just hope there is a lighter version that's, y'know, old school power armor...

If I had to guess, I think it works like you finding the power armor, you activate it and place yourself in it. When you want to get out you jump out of it but it stays in place. It could just be from the cutscene shown in the video. You might be able to pick it up like in the last 2 games. With that said, I'm starting to think there will be cut scenes between the story.

I think its great what has finally happened with Power Armor.  It does make me think of Imp's PPA mod which minus actually climbing into the Power Armor seems very similar just from the video.  The armor does look like it does have a downside in that it seems slow but since it appears you can customize it I imagine that it might have more options in how it functions than we have seen in any armor in an RPG to date.

There might be modifications with trade-offs that you decide for yourself just like you do with the weapons in the game, which I think will have people going nuts about what the best set-ups are.  If its not that detailed its only a matter of time before we see some very detailed systems as it appears the framework for something like that is most certainly in place already.

I'm really excited about the new additions to the game and how they exist without needing to be modded in with very complicated load orders.  Too be honest the base game looks very enjoyable without mods which I don't know about you guys but I feel very comfortable modding games and its hard for me to get a lot of fun out of a game that cant be modded....So its a big deal.

Power Armor really isn't something you fit in your back pocket now.

PA will likely need to be maintained and kept powered up with fuel cells.  It seems to be the only thing in the game that actually has a Condition Value.

While there's a good chance the suit stays where you leave it, I highly doubt that it's only available for some missions, more like only found in some missions then you take it back to your garage and mod it (rememebr the preview image?), though the fuel cell thing will probably restrict how much you can run around in it... though odds are good there will be enough of those cells available in the game that once you're on your third playthrough (or using a guide) you can run 100 % PA from when you find it, just doing connect the dots across the map to where the cells are. Devs have a tendency of sprinkling enough of these super rare items (like Mini-Nukes) that casual gamers can find them, which means dedicated gamers find enough to use the unique Fat Man launcher firing 8 of the buggers regularily.

I never been one much for Power Armor tbh but after seeing how it's done in FO4, with the whole HUD display and even the rain drops on the visor, not to mention the jet pack... I think I might use it much more often. I'm wondering how it's going to be handled on followers. If I jump off a building and use a jet pack, will a follower do the same? Hope it's not dumb down where you jumped off a cliff and your follower decides to take route 2 pulling a nascar track just to get to you.

I guess it would depend on what the follower in question has when it comes to resources. Obviously, it would be a good thing if they weren't dumb enough to jump off a building without a jetpack of their own. That also makes me think of how jetpacks mechanics will be handled by NPC's, I guess it could be exclusive to the player character but I find it unlikely.

Jetpack is handled by Action Points.

-----------------------

Brotherhood of Steel is very likely the Mid West Chapter, they have had airships before.  They may even be a primary enemy or perhaps you can join up with them.  Seems to me that fans of FNV may find that there will be a return of faction exclusion, as in if you join the BoS your excluded from another factions quest and ending.  I find it unlikely that the BoS is the Lions Pride Chapter, they just don't have access to airships... Seems more likely that the BoS wont be White Knights this edition.

With the Settlements the player can create, I'd say that it seems clear that you can in fact develop your own faction, and it seems very likely that it'll have an impact on your quests and story outcome if the player pursues this part of the game.

So far Im thinking there are at least 3 major directions you can go to achieve a unique ending and I'm thinking since what we have seen already is quite an upgrade perhaps the story is a fair bit more choice driven than in Fo3.

Factions likely to have quests and specific endings.

1) BoS

2) The Institute

3) The Railroad

4) Player Driven Savior of the Waste, ala you create your own faction...Instead of just Anarchy ending in FNV this might have a more meaningful ending for players that spent time creating settlements.

I know it uses action points, and that's precisely my point. NPC's don't even have action points, right? And the engine handling nonscripted 3D movement even for a short while would be new in the Fallout series. Also, I don't understand this whole BoS white knight mantra, it feels as though I've played a different game than everyone else because I never actually got that feeling from the chapter. Most of their members are incredibly condescending to outsiders, some of them being completely opposed to the Lyons doctrine and only remaining loyal out of a personal sense of honor. The game also recognizes hwo much of a controversial choice Lyons quest was with the whole Outcasts situation, and the man himself recognizes he's taken a lot of liberties in his peculiar interpretation of the original doctrine of the BoS, and how it has hurt the chapter as a whole greatly. Lyons simply felt it was high time he actually tried to put the technology they hoard in use, because if we have to be realistic, the western BoS is fudged up. They'll be left to die in their holes as they inbreed to death while the rest of the world carries on.

Yea the new idea for power armor is great. However i don't know how i feel about having to fuel it and how do you transport it?

You park it and then have to run back to equip it again? Abuse fast travel? Or maybe it can follow you empty and not use too much power while doing so?

Just consider that you put that whole thing (or even more than one) in your backpack in previous games. The lore doesn't really change with what was shown. The difference to earlier games is, that they can now show how it is "supposed to work".

Personally, I like the idea that it is more of a stationary deal, which you only equip if you are going to whoop some ass somewhere. That's how I've used PA in the previous games anyway, since I play sneaky characters most of the time.
