bjornk Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015   what many people are failing to grasp is that FO4 will likely still be 32bit since it uses the same engine as skyrim. Do have any solid evidence to support that?  Bethesda paid millions for the creation engine and previously (years ago) stated they intended to sue it for several long term games in multiple franchises. just from the lack luster walking animations in the trailer you can see its the same   I wouldn't call that a solid evidence.
leddis3 Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 what many people are failing to grasp is that FO4 will likely still be 32bit since it uses the same engine as skyrim. This introduces a memory limit so high res textures will limit playability to many  Skyrim was patched to be 64 bit, so this really means nothing.

bjornk Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Both of the current gen consoles have 8GB of RAM. The game has to be 64-bit or at least LAA to utilize that amount of memory. If not I can see a shitstorm over the horizon. Not only that, the game would run slower than it's supposed to, if it's 32-bit, as both of these consoles have 64-bit CPUs. In other words, 32-bit is very unlikely.
leddis3 Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Or maybe we'll get some info on Josh Hamrick who departed from his position at Bungie as Destiny's senior gameplay designer to take on lead systems designer at bethesda. maybe FO4 can get something new in the way it's built. Oh? So Fallout 4 will have a meaningless, cut short singleplayer campaign with all the good rewards put into multiplayer RNG to make you play the same group instances over and over? Ah but I'm being cynical, that wasn't his fault.... it wasn't his fault, right?
bjornk Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 well till a 64bit only operating system is produced......... Â I don't think they'd consider PCs with 32-bit OSes as a common denominator anymore. If they want to fully utilize the power of current generation of consoles then they have to go 64-bit and they will, this is not an unfounded speculation.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Tomorrow will be the day. Can't wait to see the outcome of Fallout 4. I hope it's all good news and they come out and say there won't be any monetizing mods. But anything can change at any given moment so best to sit back and observe. Let the pawns jump in and buy/play it and judge it by reviews and youtube videos.
bjornk Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 If you're still using a 32-bit Windows system with 4GB or less RAM, you'll most likely have to upgrade in order to play FO4. Just saying.
Leito86 Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 I'm going to be one of those pawns...and I'm going to enjoy every moment of it.
bjornk Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015  If you're still using a 32-bit Windows system with 4GB or less RAM, you'll most likely have to upgrade in order to play FO4. Just saying.why, TW3 plays just fine and I would imagine FO4 will as well....just saying. I'm sure TW3 runs fine on your 4GB system, despite the fact that its minimum requirement is 6GB of RAM, and a 64-bit OS.
Kendo 2 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 TTW ran fine on my 32bit os just fine.  Ultra settings, everything maxed out visually and plenty ot texture replacers.  No problems at all.  I share Mogie's opinion.  Like it or not, outdated 32bit is the general standard.  I'm running 32bit and it does everything I need it to do for work and play.  Money is too tight right now and I'm not going to dump $3-4k for a new rig just for the sake of a Bethesda game.  The time WILL come when I have to upgrade, but a Bethesda release will not be the catalyst.  I'm sure there are people who will indeed upgrade just to play a 64bit FO4.  They have more money than common sense.
bjornk Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 TTW might be running fine on an 32-bit OS, but we were talking about The Witcher 3 (=TW3), not TTW. Â Consoles have always been the common denominator for the minimum requirements of (multi-platform) PC games, so we now have consoles that come with 8GB of RAM, 64-bit processor and OS. It's reasonable to think that the game will utilize these configurations fully. I don't think they'll release a separate 32-bit version for PCs either, PC version will also be 64-bit. System requirements may not be as high as TW3, however. Â I also still believe that the game will *not* use an updated version of Creation Engine (Gamebryo).
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I have common sense more than money, but I am going to build a new rig some time next year simply because the one I have now is 6 and a half years old. I'm not going to spend money on upgrading hardware mixing it with old hardware. I've pushed this PC to it's limit back in it's prime days and while it still runs very smooth, I rather not risk buying a far better GPU than I have now with a very good PSU wattage I have when it's old and upgrading a GPU means more power usage and risking old hardware like my motherboard and PSU less life span than it has now. Â I want to be able to experience Skyrim and Fallout 4 with much higher performance using hires textures.
Zor2k13 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Worst thing about building a new pc is finding a reasonable price for a nice looking case and finding a good power supply that doesn't cost over $80 and doesn't have a dam mail in rebate making the original price over $100. Â Ever since alt coin mining became a thing in late 2013 we have seen power supply and video card prices skyrocket. Â BTW... avoid corsair power supplies they kind of suck and don't stand up to the big stress incidents they are supposed to handle. I had one in my mining rig and it was giving me problems with start up freezing at times etc. then one day a nearby power pole was knocked down by a drunk driver causing immediate loss of all power at my place BLAM! everything was off. When we got power back a few days later my mining rig would not turn on the psu was dead. I bought an evga supernova 750G2 and everything is fine. Been mining with it 24/7 no problem for almost two years now. EVGA is pretty good with power supplies and corsair seems to be getting worse. I have seen some of those "mining farm in china" videos and they are always showing what psu they use. They will have a big pile of dead psu but always one brand... cougar. Cougar is actually pretty good too but those chinese mining rigs probably burn out anything and it says a lot about what brand they are using because they have to keep the highest level of uptime possible in order to make a profit. I have a cougar s850 in my gaming rig been there since skyrim came out and no problems ever with it.
Kendo 2 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 TTW might be running fine on an 32-bit OS, but we were talking about The Witcher 3 (=TW3), not TTW.  My bad.  I was wondering 'WTF are they talking about?  Tales of Two Wastelands runs fine on my shit rig.'  I gave to agree somewhat about the potential for FO4 to be 64bit.  I think (in my uninformed opinion) that will depend on what they want to accomplish visually with the game.  If Bethesda sticks to its standard formula there will be world spaces devoid of any defining character, no true visual depth with their shit generated LOD and a conspicuous abscence of actors.  A town the size of Solitude in Skyrim could shelter probably 3000 people.  There are less than 100 living within its walls.  Trees also come into play, though from what I've seen so far the Bostom Wasteland will be a rehash of the DC one.  Bethesda uses SpeedTree and I don't know how that will jive with a different engine.  I guess they could use static trees like in NewVegas to get around that.  The only way to not follow that formula would be a new engine, just like you said.  When I look at how towns are done in games like Assassin's Creed Unity or even the populated areas of Witcher2, there is NO WAY that can be done with the engine Bethesda used for Skyrim.  Their 'radient AI' for npcs is a joke to begin with and imagine the train wreck it would be if they tried to cram one of their pocket world spaces full of real npcs with real ambient AIs.  It would be a crashfest.  I've watched the FO4 promo a few times and I swear I see reworked FO3 meshes in the video.  It doesn't bode well for any real engine improvements.  And if they do indeed use a new engine mesh modding will be fucked until the sourceforge guys make new code to decipher what's going on in the meshes.  They basically gave up on Skyrim once they updated the user versions and the Blender Foundation didn't pick up the slack.  And God forbid Bethesda uses Skyrim style body scaling for FO4.  FO4 could be released this year.  It's possible since Bethesda is known for rushing their unfinished products to market and leaving the clean up to the player-modders.
Zor2k13 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I think some companies are gonna try to get as much out as they can this year simply because they want to avoid the coming financial crisis near the end of the year and moving into the next few years. Nobody wants to release a game during a bad economic period when the potential customers are losing their house and other stuff. For certain they have to be ready to release FO4 and doom whateveritscalled. Anything after that will probably be scaled down to save money.
tacomarine Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 12 hours till the e3 conference.... if i did the math right. why can't everything be in eastern standard time?
leddis3 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 All joking aside, and yes bjornk I was joking, you seem to be taking all this way to seriously for two games you've already decided to hate (TW3 & FO4) without playing either one. all this yak about "Canned Characters" is over blown when the characters are supposed to be. and everyone's "Opinion" of what RPG should or shouldn't be. Whether you'r playing a "canned" character or one you create and name yourself your still taking on the roll of that character. and both have an already decided path that may or may not fork into many other paths. But again this is getting way off topic and all this other crap away from the main OP is pointless. We don't even know yet just exactly what is or isn't going to be announced other then there is a FO4 game. Â You take the role of Mario, therefore Super Mario Bros is an RPG. Â I have a very uncomfortable feeling Bethesda will try to drop a set character on us tomorrow and that would be a bigger dealbreaker for me than even paid mods. I just hope I'm worrying over nothing. Â
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 It's not going to happen. I'm surprised people are still speculating on this when Sandra Reed turned out to be a gimmick. I highly doubt they will ever go with one gender. Their games From TES to Fallout have precisely been character customization. Can you honestly think they would do the same for TES6? I don't think so.

I don't think so. Â I know Sandra Reed is fake. But I have a niggling fear in the back of my mind that Bethesda will think that they need to beat the likes of TW3 at it's own game or something stupid like that. Forgetting of course that CDPR has actual writers and they.. don't, and set characters are not a requirement for a good narrative. Â Like I said, I hope my fears look silly tomorrow.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 E3 is today. http://www.twitch.tv/bethesda Keep your eyes peeled.
the_mess Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I think the DooM gameplay reveal footage comes first but I may be wrong.
tacomarine Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 one way to find out, mate. and it turns out i did the math backwards. whoops. 10 hours!
