Corpus Vile Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 It won't matter soon. Consoles are getting smashed by smartphone/tablet games. One can only hope.
Zor2k13 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 You can thank google and apple for that and also for another potential gaming industry crash. Most people now only have time for cell phone use, they do it in the bathroom, the bedroom, the car, the plane and so on. I have not seen a cell phone user simply turn off their phone or have sense enough to lower the volume of the ring tone to a normal level ever! They have that ring tone volume jacked up so high like they are saying "I'm more important than you because my phone is ringing" and it is just stupid. People are slaves to cell phones mostly because of their jobs and their boss calling them about the dumbest shit imaginable because people just can't think these days. Where did so and so put the stuff? instead of looking around them, the boss calls so and so to ask:-( Games like hearthstone which is just a fancy card game with 2d animations will be the norm and pc gamers will be a niche market. I think most of us that are power gamers and play skyrim with mods or other games with complicated setups are the aging minority now. Two decades from now, who will be playing such complicated games? People I talk to that ask me about gaming on pc only want to know how to get minecraft working for their kids or whatever. Most people own a laptop instead of a desktop and it seems like laptops are turning into tablets with docking keyboards. Every year we get games that are online only, have nearly no content because DLC laterz and usually flop and go free 2 play after a year or two. When people can't even be bothered to player call of doody time anymore because it looks too complicated, you know we are in trouble because who would even make that kind of game anymore if the majority just tuned it out?
DocClox Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Beth sucks for storylines, exhibit A dark brotherhood quest from skyrim and exhibit B most ot the writing for skyrim lol. Having to kill parth is stupid and the whole civil war thing is even worse. Well, if you didn't like the writing the previous games, you're probably not going to like the writing in the next one either. Still, look on the bright side: at least you won't be disappointed
Zor2k13 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Hehe where is that youtube clip of metalocalype character murder face birthday party lol. EDIT Here it is! Note the part about disappointed:-)
DocClox Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Note the part about disappointed:-) I'll take your word for it
bjornk Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 By the way, style of the flashbacks in the trailer, well, let's just say it is "heavily inspired" by Robocop (1987). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx7h_z7pIyo?t=148 Adds to the android theory? Maybe.

Maybe. Possibly. Although they have used the motif before. Both in Vault 106 and the Dunwich Building. I'm tending towards the notion that the trailer is just that: a promotional trailer. Certainly it's in-engine, but I don't think it's game footage if you see what I mean. I think this is an advertising sequence pure and simple. Having the dog explore solo like that probably wouldn't work in the game. Unless they've got some clever game mechanism in mind, I suppose. The other possibility is that it's the opening video, just like the first glimpse we had of FNV turned out to be the opening video from that game. Although I hope not since that would lend credence to the talking PC and male-only PC theories.

The trailer is a bit of both, I think, a combination of actual in-game footage and specially crafted in-game scenes, such as the dog exploring on its own, people packing up and running to the vault etc. It would be nice if they let followers (assuming the dog is one) do their own thing while following you, such as the dog exploring the surroundings on its own as long as you are within a certain range, and then come back to you when you are too far away.
Sacremas Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Last part sounds likely, sounds like just Serana's Sandbox AI expanded a little bit.
NotRicin Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 What will Todd lie about this time? SEE THAT BUILDING? YOU CAN NOT GO INTO IT
Zor2k13 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Yeah and also he will say, you can not go into it sideways or upside down or running or sneaking or walking or teleporting blah blah. His bs is tiring I can't stand him. Remember the matrix movies? now remember that last recent movie by those two brothers er uh brother and a jenner lol? well that last movie with all those giant space ships and awesome space battles blah blah... nobody really cared for it. Dam thing was a flop even though it should have been another success it just stank up movie theaters everywhere:-( Eventually even a company that made good games or in this case somewhat good games will flop big time and lose customers to other games. Bugfesta is ripe for a real big flop! ESO was a flop and they are certainly gonna be nervous and worried this next game will flop too. I think if they had some success with ESO then the fallout franchise would have been the last thing on their minds but this seems like a desperate act to me. Fall back on something that works to earn much needed money.

Fall back on something that works to earn much needed money. Well, first: the ESO studio was ZeniMax, Bethesda was only the publisher for it. Second: ESO was released in April 2014, at that time Fallout 4 must already have been in development by then, so going back to the Fallout franchise pre-dates the flopping of ESO.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I would say it dates back from 2011 after Skyrim's launch in November and a little over a year after Fallout New Vegas's lauch in October 2010. Then again, The FO3 team have probably been working on this way before since Obsidian is the one who did the work for New Vegas. Either way it's been a very long time and a very long silence. It's hard to tell whether the game will launch this October or the following year maybe during spring time. They usually launch their Fallout sequels in October, though. This trailer was a bit late if they go about it in October. I guess we'll find out in less than 7 days.
Shadow_Hazard Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Hopefully our community can get onto whats important here. 1) Penis 2) penis 3) penis 4) Blood 5) penis 6) Better Drug Visuals 7) a Sweet Ride 8) (On a penis) 9) Penis 10) Sex otherwise just skip 9 cause uh makes no since without 9. FTFY I'd personally also replace both #4 & #6 with Penis, of course. Then it's perfect Who fucking cares if the player is married or not dammit? I know the rest of your post is pretty much against the idea of such a crappy plot device, which I agree. But as for that one sentence I quoted from you: I care, for one. I care very much. I don't want my gay male character to have/had a wife and kid. it would seriously kill the game outright for me, since so much of my gaming is based on the ability to 'write' my own character. Deciding for me that character has/had a WIFE? And even a freakin' kid? LOL, no thanks! It would make any kind of roleplay impossible and the game just uncomfortable for me to play at all. And then there's the whole thing about It most likely also making the entire game's story about them; find your family, reunite with your loving wife and child, etc. That is simply a story I have no interest in being told, or being a part of. Bethesda have always let me/us play our own character throughout Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series. The lack of strings attached gave us the freedom to do so. Why change what is basically their tradition now? It makes no sense, other than to say a big F.U. to all their fanbase. But, I don't for a second believe that this ridiculous bullshit speculation will be the case. It does annoy me that people actually believe it though; it's like topic number one everywhere it's being discussed. As well as all the other ridiculous rumors about the game... it's just a joke. ............................................ Anyway, I gotta say that just knowing this game is coming has given me an interest in gaming once again. I was just about done with gaming until I saw the FO4 Teaser. Damn I can't wait for Fallout 4!!! Fuck Beth and Fallout 4.
Zor2k13 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 You took my sentence out of context and made yourself look silly, I was trying to say it did not make sense to marry off the player as part of the story.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Or maybe they have love in Fallout for once? Maybe you can get married in the game and we don't know it yet. Truth is, i would be more than cool with that, but not in a fallout game because I just don't see enough passion from them to do a good job. Skyrim's was rather... um... dull... it was cool you could get married to any sex and race you desire but Bethesda couldn't right a love novel if their lives depended on it. So I rather them leave out marriage from their games. There's enough room to roleplay with one writing a compelling story through story written and screenshots. I would be surprised if they do implement marriage and it actually had meaning than telling your NPC to go home and play robot nanny.
bjornk Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 You pass through the gates of Diamond City and greeted by an android who looks suspiciously familiar... NZM-X95: "Do you get to the Diamond District very often? Oh, what am I saying, of course you don't."
blueballbob Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 So, loaded up Fallout 3 and New Vegas with the Tale of Two Wastelands. Got both modded up as best I could, and played them just to blow through the main story. Let's just say, between Fallout 3 and Skyrim, Bethesda came a LONG way. Their writing can be crap at points, but I really care more about the technical level of their game engine. If they have a 64bit exe and a better scripting engine I'll be more than happy. Hopefully they've hired some writers to make the stories more compelling in the game, but from a 3 minute clip it's really hard to tell what a 60 to 100 hour games writing is like. That said, if CD Project Red's "Red Kit" comes out and its awesome. Bethesda could loose the modding crown.
Sacremas Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 The reddit post falls apart even more, today it was categorically denied by Bethesda that a 360 or PS3 version of Fallout 4 will ever come.
DocClox Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 The reddit post falls apart even more, today it was categorically denied by Bethesda that a 360 or PS3 version of Fallout 4 will ever come. Hey cool Maybe we'll get a UI designed for the PC this time. It should reduce the pressure for paid mods too if there's not need to get them into the console stores.
bjornk Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 The reddit post falls apart even more, today it was categorically denied by Bethesda that a 360 or PS3 version of Fallout 4 will ever come. Denying the possibility of a 360/PS3 release doesn't really disprove SandraReed's post. They might have simply cancelled it after she left, as I've said numerous times. Has Bethesda actually said that they had *never* thought about releasing an Xbox 360 or PS3 version? For a project that had started much before the release of current gen consoles, I highly doubt that it's the case.
Sacremas Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Oh it's still coming for the Xbone and PS4, so you'll still see the console-aitus. It's just not being developed for the last gen consoles because according to a Bethesda dev, "it's just not physically possible with what we are doing." Now considering the Xbone and PS4 basically got the processor power of a mediocre tablet, that's not saying much,
00ptic Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 The reddit post falls apart even more, today it was categorically denied by Bethesda that a 360 or PS3 version of Fallout 4 will ever come. Put shortly, no it doesn't. If we are to assume the post has any amount of truth to it, it can be seen this way: In the context of the post, every scrap of information that was true or being considered by Bethesda regarding Fallout 4 that was known to the poster at that point in time was included there, as it was given in hopes of somehow damaging Bethesda. Experimental features and other planned but scrapped features would be included in this category. Many decisions could have been made since then, both in hopes of discrediting this person (less likely in my opinion) and due to continued financial analysis and ongoing changes in perspective. I cannot say that I do not question the validity of that post still, but this new information means nothing.
