Chaos63 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I'm thinking most likely at that stage in development Adam Jensen's lost girlfriend was supposedly interning for Bethesda or whatever she was before she started turning tricks and experimenting with human augmentation, male was the only one that was finished at that point in developement even partially, so that's all she's aware of. If she's legit at all. Releasing a corporate giant's information like that is the financial equivalent of jumping in front of a bulldozer going 300km/h. Rocketing your career to give a bunch of people a shoutout seems highly unlikely. On the off chance the poster is simply insane and actually telling the truth, well...it might be a good game.
wulfgear09 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 the speculation on this game has already reached ludicrous speed. I dont know of any bethesda games that don't give the option to play male and female ..do you. And the fact that if this did happen they would be politically incorrect as hell and people would rail and cuss ,that alone would have stopped any further advancement in this line of thought for the creators ..wouldn't it? In this day and age everyone is on edge about equality and human rights ,racially and sexualy. but I have been known to be wrong especially when it comes to what a major game corporation might think. on the other hand if it is a story based line where you need to play bob looking for his GF in a wasted land and once you find her she is unlocked I am ok with this . And besides with the exception of Morrowind all the games bethesda has put out can be beaten in under 10 hours, I think i can do Skyrim in about 5.So ease up a bit on the whole man this is going to suck balls if it's not exactly the way i want it shit. Sooner or later our modders new or old will fix it.
ElectricSheep Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Mods can improve various aspects of a game, but there are limits - technical and logistical. It would require an enormous amount of work to add a female option in a game that is about a guy, and a decent voice actor to do it well. If the locked gender thing turns out to be true, I doubt anyone will fix it.
wulfgear09 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Yeah ok , I can see where the thinking line is here, changing all those hims to hers and she to he would be tough. but i am saying that the game creators will do it for you after you unlocked it. they will have to or face alienating most of its fan base.
Sacremas Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 They'll fix it as soon as they have added a female main character protagonist for the Witcher games. Which should be any moment now...
bjornk Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Hasn't Bethesda done a similar thing in their two previous games? Haven't played it myself but you start FO3 as a kid, right? And you start Skyrim as a generic prisoner and only after you've got off the cart, you get the character creation screen. Perhaps this time they will extend this intro part a bit more.

Actually from that video you could actually be playing it as the dog. That would get past, from the dev's point of view, the whole "we don't like voiced player character narrative" on the one end, and at the other end "nope we can't allow them to play a female because of the whole big tits and unsuitable combat knickers" aspect. Mind I'd have issue with the whole random 'hey boy" thing coming across if you were playing a dog.
Kaz Aanh Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Graphics looks really weak in this trailer. But modders will fix it , as always. Its a free labor. Im not a graphic whore but I expected something more from the AA+ company with tons of budgets. And if you need tons of mods to alter your gameplay , graphics and game stabillity its not a good design. Compare dogs and see by yourself. Its an open world game too btw. Its kinda sad that we won't see nvidia hairworks and other neat features. I really hoped for some pubic hairworks. I will still buy it anyways because Fallout was always my favourite game, not counting New Vegas. It lost its post-apocalyptic feel that F3 has had.
Chaos63 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 They'll fix it as soon as they have added a female main character protagonist for the Witcher games. Which should be any moment now... Good god that would suck. I'd rather have Fo4 be shitty.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 You guys crack me up with speculating off of what that person wrote 11 months ago. It's only day 2 of the trailer. We have no idea if we're that male, a dog or the damn dude in the trench coat for all we know. Can't interpret the outcome over a trailer. Especially the first trailer that only shows a glimpse of what the world will be. We could be the kid in the striped shirt running up to the gate for all we know. I hardly doubt they would exclude female from the playable option because they have to know female characters are used way more than males. Doubt they want to make a move like that. It's possible they might shaft console gamers with the male only inclusion as a playable character. That would be funny. What do they care anyways? They buy play, put away and move on to another game.
jxm Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 They'll fix it as soon as they have added a female main character protagonist for the Witcher games. Which should be any moment now... Good god that would suck. I'd rather have Fo4 be shitty. Well, I would totally play a female Witcher in a Witcher 4 however ... ^^ And if that "rumour" or whatever about "male-only"-FO would be true .. nah, how stupid that would be. I mean, haven't seen Max Max Fury Road yet, but, as it seems (or said by some), Furiana is way more interesting and fun than Max himself, so leave the Postapocalypse to bad-ass amazon-tatooed warrior-chicks (... with colored anime hair and gigant eyes and boobies *shudders, but not really in delight*)
Erundil Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Tbh it doesn't look anywhere near as good as TW3 does. Which in turn means that you won't need a monster to play it, which is also nice (to assume). This game looks ugly. Rejoice. I'm not saying that graphics are everything, no, the story is what matters most to me. Still, it sucks that this game looks like it just woke from 3-year-long hibernation. Also let me remind you, that TES/Fallout engine eats a lot of resources even to render low definition graphics, so fluent gameplay is not guaranteed. Did anyone notice that the "protagonist" spoke at the end of the trailer? Maybe we get an unmuted PC this time around? He did! I'm so excited! No, wait a sec, I'm not. How are we supposed to make mods with new story quests then? We'd have to record lines for protagonist now... or leave them muted, but that would suck. For the sake of my future modding endeavors I hope that guy from the trailer wasn't the protagonist.

Yet modders always added dialogue to them, often not voiced and no one had a problem with it. I don't see the problem here.
Sacremas Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 All things considering the graphics could have been worse. I mean just imagine if inExile and Brian Fargo and the gang kept the Fallout licence and made the game instead. In that case you might see these graphics instead, and note this is not for the faint hearted, this just so bad and low quality. Haven't they learned anything from Arcanum?
bjornk Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 As a modding community, it's the new engine what you should be worrying about the most about the game. Console players wouldn't mind a game with crippled or non-existing modding capabilities, at all, but you would. I've watched the trailer again and again for about an hour, and it doesn't look anything like the previous games. I don't think it is the Creation Engine or an improved version of it. @sacremas: I suppose that's Unreal 4. It's a great engine to build fantasy games of somewhat small scale. A much better choice for The Bard's Tale than Unity.
Sacremas Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Bethesda may have decided from the Paid Mods thing that it's just not worth putting any effort into... They may not release any modding tools at all this time. After all mods for Skyrim changed the ESRB of it IIRC and cut off some avenues where it could be sold. They may look at the success of something like Wolfenstein the New Order and Evil Within and decide that would be the best way to take their company from now on. Not the most dramatical way to change around, after all Kotaku I think it was just stopped making games alltogether, figuring they weren't paying off enough.
windu190 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Yeah that's what I'm fearing as well. Doesn't look like Gamebryo or Creation at all.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 It doesn't look like creation engine to me, but some of the foliage does look like models from Skyrim and Fallout like the bushes. I'm not so worried about the graphics because I know it's gonna look good to me. I just hope they get rid of the stupid hue they love to put into their Fallout games. If it comes out the way it looks like in the trailer, I can definitely dig that.
bjornk Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 some of the foliage does look like models from Skyrim and Fallout like the bushes You are right, but keep in mind that these are the same people who produced the art assets for the previous games, and it's normal that there's a resemblance between them. However, if I placed each and every asset of Skyrim into, say the CryEngine, and run the game within it, how would you tell the difference? Would you still say that it was the Creation Engine just because the assets looked similar? Weather effects, lighting effects, volumetric effects (fog, smoke etc), clouds, night sky, colors, these are nothing like FNV or Skyrim.
ElectricSheep Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 The year is 2023, it's a time of great innovation and Bethesda just announced Fallout 5. Random poster on an internet forum: I wonder if they will use that crappy Gamebryo again?
windu190 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I hope they will Gamebryo or Creation because of the glorious console commands and it's modability. But I fear the times of god powers always being one ~ button away are over..
Double D Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 For what it's worth I still think this is the creation/gamebryo engine or whatever Bethesda calls it nowadays. The LOD looks like it could be straight out of Skyrim. Also, it's refreshing that Bethesda actually chose to showcase what I am *assuming* is actual gameplay. Given the standard to embellish and downgrade for the release I was expecting a far better looking trailer than what we received. I'm looking at you, Geralt.
Gameplayer Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 The atmosphere, I didn't realize so many people actually liked the green/orange image space filters. That however is actually really easy to fix if that really is your thing. I took the footage to mean that Beth Studio actually looked at the more popular weather mods and how those filters were removed for a more normal atmosphere. Which I realize doesn't lend itself to wasted and polluted skies but the thing is if I just poked around and called off some download numbers on say Nevada Skies and a few other mods whose names are not poping in my head....The amount of downloads would be in the millions. Beth studio's is not going to fail to release a Construction Kit or GECK....That's just ridiculous speculation actually and it certainly wouldn't help their Stock Market, yes Forbes, Time, and many other publications have taken a real interest in the Game Market. Saying no CK is like saying that Beth is ok with losing its strongest component the mod community which has kept this series selling games at a high point cost and most played games according to Steam, uh Beth Games people like every week for years. Can you blame Valve for wanting to cash in on that? Beth had to pull the plug on that the community reaction was too powerful for investors to ignore. Sales on more issues of the game have just been amazing as far as games go. Graphics people whining about the graphics really they don't know jack or respect what the community is capable of. For the most part I would just figure its lazy kids that don't really understand mod installation. It's actually better for the game to not be geared to blow doors off here because it reaches a wider audience and makes more sales. People that are familiar with modding understand that the skills to enhance the game substantially graphics wise are present. The concept of male only, For one all based on a possible haux or just what an intern saw at best......Consider that the intern would have been playing a build uh duh the male character would have been completed before the female character. The other thing is that if it ships like this we may actually find enough Female Voice files intended for female lead but never fully used due to time constraints. Like that never happened before unused assets have been a thing, yet present in the BSA's for people who prod to find. That's actually how the game will look. It's not going to be downgraded until we modders downgrade it with mods so more people can play without having to purchase expensive equipment which is actually a thing you know.
