Lovely Rose Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I don't think anyone is going to disagree that Fallout needs vehicles. (uh Madmax anyone) I do, I dislike the idea of Vehicles in fallout, i prefer to walk the wasteland XP. I mean sure some places would be cool to have a vehicle, like maybe a land is so radiated you have to quickly get from side a to side b. So Vehicle would be handy. But eh
Kuroshu Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 What kind of action *nudge nudge* Just kidding. Never felt NV was linear... Well I guess you sorta knew what your goal was, find they guy who shot you. First play through I went past the Quarry... And got surprised by a deathclaw... at that moment deathclaws traumatized me... But I still went and tried to pass them until I finally did, then after that Killed Benny, and got sidetracked about everything else. For Skyrim... I didn't report to Balgruf since I don't want to be dragonborn... since dragon's will spawn and murder every one... So yeah. I guess that's what's missing with NV, which was at certain points things will change, makes the world feel some what dynamic. We should have more of this! And yes NV was small... Skyrim was fun traveling with my Horse Bob... Never Fast Travelled. A Vault you can upgrade? I mean it does say... Welcome home and your a vault dweller. In terms of transportation and the player. I hope it is minimal. I rather just see that floating blimp as showcase and other vehicles. if anything, remove the fast travel from pipboy and let us pay for transportation. But make it pretty expensive so it's not something the player can commonly use. Last thing we need is game breaking when these open world sandbox are all about exploration. Using it as a Fast Traveling mechanism should be fine. You'd have to find/pay for fuel else you won't be able to Fast Travel. The necessity of having vehicles or mounts comes from how big the map is and how often will you have to travel from points across the map. If you have no choice but to make 50 trips rather than let's say 1 since the NPC didn't tell you what he/she needed till you give them what they want. I do love traversing the wasteland but some times it just takes too long and for the most part boring since there where no random events in NV.
testsubject013 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I'm pretty sure horses are extinct in the fallout universe they might be able to do something else like a motorcycle or a buggy or some kind of mutant animal mount hell maybe a mechanical horse even. however I doubt they will. I want a airship as my home base. also I hope that the protagonist isn't voiced I don't want a fallout game like ME3 DAI I want my freedom to wander and explore and to kill whoever or whatever I want
Guest endgameaddiction Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 One of the major reasons why FNV to me was mediocre. It was too planned out and it had grey areas. Not enough emphasis as to why you as the courier want to take revenge except for the fact that you got shot in the head. And then the landscape was not intriguing me. The world didn't feel dangerous. Where's the megaton like small settlements? Where's the sand pits with pikes at the bottom with furious rad scorps or vicious dogs ready to chomp at you to portray as death traps made by raiders? Sure, lets go and follow daddy may not have been the most exciting introduction to some, but it was more believable as the player to step into an unknown world. It lacked interaction, but even NV did as well. In the end from playing Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim. I don't want to be this ultimate one that saves the world. As I've said in the past, Each DLC should be introduced with a new character because lets face it, The Lone Wanderer, The Courier, and The Dragonborn cannot be the only one trying to save the world. Exceptions are made for DLCs that continue off of main story like Broken Steel, Lonesome Road and Dragonborn. But that's me. I think if they planned it out, it could work. Either way it doesn't truly bother me to the point of not playing games like this, but this whole chosen one approach has been done a million times and it's really old.
Kuroshu Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 "Trying to save the world" might not be the right statement... Sure it's true for Skyrim and FO3 but for NV it's more like "What the hell did I get my dumb arse into?" You could have sided with Legion and the world would not have ended. Their respected games is their tale it's their story. I mean you do get a new protag when a new game comes out.
nonusnomeni Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 mods merge all that FO4 announcement threads in one

And it's why I'm hoping they make the game world as big or real close to Skyrim's. No more invisible barriers like in Skyrim. It was a pain in FO3 and NV. The only way I'd abuse the fast travel is if I played the game too many times to the point where nothing really fascinates me because I've seen it a million times. But that's usually at a point where I've done everything there has been to do. Supplying the transit operator with fuel or even materials to repair it would be interesting. Like a mini side quest. I'm pretty sure horses are extinct in the fallout universe they might be able to do something else like a motorcycle or a buggy or some kind of mutant animal mount hell maybe a mechanical horse even. however I doubt they will. That's for sure.
Luminar Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I wonder if there is any story significance to all the pre-nuke scenes featured in the trailer?
Gameplayer Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 We might actually be playing as a guy that woke up from Cryo.
Luminar Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 We might actually be playing as a guy that woke up from Cryo. Vault-Tec brand Cryo-vaults?

Bigger, definitely bigger. But that's what we have mods for, when you've done everything in vanilla... download some quest mods and other world space mods and wreck havok... I mean love and peace. The Transit would be a car you use to fast travel >.> or a mutated bhramin with a horn that fires lazers when enemies are near... best alarm ever!
testsubject013 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Also I would like to see some perks that deal with power armor and robots in the vanilla game
Kuroshu Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Also I would like to see some perks that deal with power armor and robots in the vanilla game Like an alternate way with dealing with Fisto? Jk But I do think that's more than likely since if it's Boston then the L33Ts of the Institute that are suppose to be making androids... One needs to defend one's self from them.
Gameplayer Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 We might actually be playing as a guy that woke up from Cryo. Vault-Tec brand Cryo-vaults? I read about it months ago, there are also a whole bunch of Video's about leaks over the years. Suffice it to say this, the game is likely already finished and I would actually be surprised if the CK wasn't ready for release either day 1 or withen the first month given the events that had led up to this announcement. I'm not happy about more waiting we will probably have to wait till E3 and then wait some more that just seems how business is done and since Bethsada is hosting they gotta wait till they tell us anything satisfying. So June 16th? Should be about when we get something substantial.

But their previous game worlds are nothing in comparison to Skyrim's. And I believe I read Oblivions was bigger? Perhaps someone can clarify that for me since I only played that game for about an hour till i got a corrupt save and opted out.
testsubject013 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I was think more along the line of fixing and tweaking them so you could have your own robot buddy or tweaking your power armor for more agility but at the cost of strength

Its been way too long for me to remember, uh ya they were pretty darn big. I seem to remember that having a horse was actually a thing you needed without using fast travel much. I've thought about getting Oblivion again since I cant seem to find the disk anymore.

Luminar Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 No kidding Skyrim is small, dang. Yeah, only thing Skyrim really has going for it in terms of perception of size is that, like Morrowind, it's hard to travel in straight lines across the landscape. Makes it seem bigger when you have to go around terrain features to get anywhere. (That's part of the reason people have tended to think Oblivion is smaller, 'cause you can mostly straight line through Cyrodiil)

And for the most part that's how Fallout worlds are. Mostly flat terrain so it does feel smaller, but I believe New Vegas was smaller because you couldn't go from the edge of the east side of the map to the west edge. they covered it with invisible barriers, so that made the game world smaller. I literally console TCL through it and ran for a long time on the areas that were unplayable. They totally killed exploration with that.

Kuroshu Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 pretty much this It's possible, IF it's in Boston then robotics is a big thing. So cross you fingers!
Kaz Aanh Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 I'm not a graphics whore by any means, but let's be honest, the human NPCs in the trailer weren't any better than a SIMS 4 character. That'd be acceptable only if the game has some other significant improvements to offer over the previous titles. Otherwise it's just meh. I'm sure that dog and human were a pure renders, not in-game characters. They look hella ugly anyways, I'm especially dissapointed with a dog because I've expected a nvidia hairworks. Instead we got a flat texture. Just like that intro with a NV.
