Redflyingmonkey Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Yea, I did. Not sure what is so dark and gritty. You hyped it so much and it the end I was like... "That was it?" Nah there's something strange then. Didn't it start the quest Carnal Sins at the end ?! Either you somehow failed the quest, or it bugged for you, or you still have to return see Dandelion. All in all, did you see any kind of play at Dandelion's new Cabaret ? Because it is kind of the point of the quest, if you have not finished the preparations for the play the quest is not finished per se.
...0... Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Damn had to abandon Kings Gambit because of major bug infinite loading screens which many have. All who start this quest part of main quest you can come across endless loading screen bug be warned. I made a save so i could leave the quest and do other quests.

ChancellorKremlin Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Urgh, I've hit a pretty annoying stumbling block in the Red Baron quest series. I'm at level 10 and this is supposedly a level 6 quest, and I have to escort the Baron while he carries the Botchling - creepy as hell btw. Only thing is, these effing wraiths have an annoying attack that immediately pierces your quen and then proceeds to do a lot of damage from the front, and they do the annoying teleport thing which is almost always a direct hit half the time even if/when you roll, especially when there is more than one of them. They are all level 6 but as soon as I get to the 2nd area they slaughter me. Best part, you CAN'T save midway, no, not even after the cutscene, you have to watch (skip) the whole thing again from scratch. I hate it when designers do this, forcing you to replay the same section over and over again because you didn't do it right the first time. I also don't get how they are dealing so much damage when I'm four levels above. I have spectre oil, potions, doesn't matter, if one hits me that's half my health down, if two do it at once I'm pretty much dead. Urgh!
bjornk Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Geralt might use some LL help. http://kotaku.com/sadly-geralt-doesnt-have-a-penis-1707636628 Perhaps another victim of the downgrade?
...0... Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 This review on Mmorpg.com seems spot on. http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/432590 Bugs and movement keep this game from getting perfect score which i agree with. So hopefully we getting some good modding tools and many mods for this game?
ChancellorKremlin Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Fistfighting sucks donkey balls ... Yeah, I noticed when I was forced into it with the baron. Also, as much as I like Gwent, I miss the good old fashioned Dice Poker. There was nothing wrong with it and it was fun, especially in TW1, where it also gave you a good bit of money.
trpd Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Carnal sins lv 15 quest spoiler I mean it, don't open unless you have already finished it. what I saw: Prcissla attacked by some guy went to hospital found its case involving a serial killer tracked him intercepted him at this rich woman's house failed to get him at the house followed the clue to this whorehouse stopped the murder in progress and killed the guy there returned to dandelion, he tanked me and Pricissla said something. is this what you were talking about? Yea thats the quest, btw you got the wrong guy. It is quite shaking one for crpg standards, your best friends girl gets assulted and then you uncover whole torture process. Now, the torture didn't really work on me because you don't see the process but just result and i've "seen" worse. However I liked Priscilla and i'm very sad she won't be performing anymore (loved the song she performs when you first meet her), i was actually suspecting that she was assulted by someone jealous of her voice. Urgh, I've hit a pretty annoying stumbling block in the Red Baron quest series. Wraiths got that misty/ghostly form, you barly hurt them normally and they deal massive amount of damage if you come in body contact with them. Yrden grounds them , you do full damage and they do less damage to you (wraith needs to be in yrden not you). I do agree that it is one of harder fights where i had to use swallow and food to heal up between fights. @Fistfighting - it is hard till you figure it out, I won fight with guy 10lvs higher. You don't just madly throw punches, time RMB to counter their attacks and daze them. When you figth vs group they are weaker and you can overpower them with strong attacks - 1 strong drops their guard and next lands. Also your fist attacks do hit multiple targets if they are close to eachother.
Redflyingmonkey Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 what I saw: Prcissla attacked by some guy went to hospital found its case involving a serial killer tracked him intercepted him at this rich woman's house failed to get him at the house followed the clue to this whorehouse stopped the murder in progress and killed the guy there returned to dandelion, he tanked me and Pricissla said something. is this what you were talking about? Actual Spoiler Cannibal Shia Laboeuf. No seriously as usual don't open if you didn't finish the quest Wow that did not shock you at all ? She lost her voice most likely forever, compared to the amazing performance you saw right before, with the Wolven Storm song at the Kingfisher Inn, I found it heartbreaking. As I've said some time ago, this was the best bard song I've ever heard in video games or movies, and her voice actor had the perfect voice for the job. Plus the textures they used to show she's (I believe so from the tone of the books and the serie as a whole), irremediably disfigured. Her mouth is almost gone, she's practically blind in one eye, and has a hole in her throat the size of a nut. Plus the acid attacked most of her face. Maybe I'm a pussy or something, can't believe that did nothing to you though. Maybe you thought she was only "attacked", but in reality she was deprived of her mean to gain coin, of the thing that made her special, and she always will have to live her whole life relying on Dandelion. She was proud of her gift and her face, she said it in some discussions, and both of them are taken from her at the same time. Plus you failed to catch the real murderer, so you didn't even manage to avenge her somehow, that should somehow touch you even more right ? I don't know, I've always found any kind of violence against artists and women unacceptable, the fact that both of them happened right there was kind of a shocking story development for me. Also I tend to take stories a bit too seriously, I guess there's that too. PS : Yeah fistfighting is real poop though. Three or four barehanded finishing moves and some new attack animations would change everything, it wouldn't be that hard ... Hope it can get modded one day.
...0... Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 CD Project Devs had some humor making a npc look like spitting image of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Won't spoil where and what quest but only i want to reveal its a huge MUSCLED NPC in one if main quests.

Have you ever watched Dexter? or any other horror cop shows? this is pretty much of the same level of effect this has on me. Cant say I cared much about Dandelion and his crew though. Urgh! my response: Oh that quest, yea I fought the botchling AND the wraiths at level 8 and still won, then did the whole 'save' the botchling thing. You just need to learn how to dodge my friend and use potions wisely. I also suggest you get the Temerian armor set + side quests and some close by question marks. I luckily got some relic swords from those places and just tore the wraiths a new asshole. Do the finding the witch quest first, that should supply you with some good gear to prepare you for this fight. But again learn how to dodge, Not Roll.

Fistfighting! me (lvl 18) against 3 enemies (lvl12) ... it took me about ten friggin times until I finally beat 'em now ... great if you dodge and Geralt has the bright idea to dodge right into the middle of them, well done Witcher. Yeah, Dice Poker, I muss it too... I played only one game of Gwent by now (during a quest, by accident, I thought I was really buying what I needed with coins). I had (and still have) no clue how it works though. I was just clicking on my cards, placing them somewhere to do..something. And suddenly my enemy passed, I had one card left, and couldn't figure out what to do (was a weather card iirc). Eventually I placed it, and I that way lowered my score below that of my opponent, losing. Yeah, Master Gwent player that was...second round all I remember was something like "your opponent play Nilfgard-something and I instantly lost"...After that...I beat the shit out of that guy and grabbed what I needed from his bloody hands... But enough of these petty problems..real problems await me! Drunk women...usually are as sexy as fecals on a dirty toilet-seat ..uh..or something like that. But tipsy Triss? Geez, that was cute...and I kissed her..and my plan goes to the nearest window, ready to jump out...how can I dispose of Triss now anymore, and have Geralt with his destinied love Yen together, as I planned? Oh Triss, why are you so much lovelier than in the previous games...DAMN YOU *waves fist*
JerseyWalrus Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Tip: When a wraith disappears in combat, dodge or roll forward because it'll most likely show up behind you and swipe at you 2-3 times

I was doing the "Apiarian [something]" witcher contract which was a level 14(?) quest and I was level 12. So here I go following the beast's tracks, la di da, and the tracks disappear in water. Okay, time to go around the body of water. But guess what? The quest spawned drowners! Yes, drowners shouldn't be much trouble, especially when the quest is so close to my level but guess what? The quest spawned 4 level frickin 18 drowners that I HAD to kill since they spawned on top of the beast's trail. It took a good bit of baiting each drowner individually and hoping I didn't time a dodge wrong.
ChancellorKremlin Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Yeah, my problem wasn't necessarily the quest's difficulty (I completed it immediately on putting up that post) but the way the saves are structured. Forcing a player to re-watch cutscene + replay segment over and over again = bad. That being said, I find I rarely ever dodge. I play on death march, and I find the yellow bar (is that stamina or adrenaline?) to cast signs regens SOOO SLOWLY. I have to keep rolling around like a madman before it regenerates, re-cast quen, get in there, hit them a few times, lose quen, retreat, rinse and repeat. Especially with wraiths that deal a lot of damage and can insta teleport behind you, especially if there is more than one. Glad that quest is over...

Guest Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 for gwent go to the taverns, the host ussually cells some cards, I sucked at first too but now I am pretty much Yu Gi Oh-ing the shit out of these guys. "when they ask if I play Gwent"

I roll around like some friggin idiot as well but...I try to use dodge more. Especially after one fight today, Witcher contract against some rather huge and hard-hitting beast, slightly above my lvl 17 Geralt. Confined space of a cave, and each hit broke my Quen and even staggered Geralt. And rolling away didn't really work because you are too far away then, and it's difficult to close the distance quick enoguh to hit the beast. Dodge worked ehre a lot better...you can evade the hits and hit yourself, often in the back for extra damage. But its still risky business. And I only play broken bones (with Death March my sanity would have long gone, and probably I'd still hang around in White Orchard) ... And even with the explanations I got some posts above I still haven't really figured out that whole Stamina/Adrenaline stuff...so all I ever use is Quen, for the rest of the signs I simply do not have any use (though Aard sometimes is nice if, IF it throws an enemy to the ground for an instant-kill), and also no ressources to actually MAKE use of them...

"when they ask if I play Gwent" Lol I found Geralt's lines hilarious when he wants to play gwent. Dude doesn't fuck around with Gwent cards, he's like "Let's do this " or "I'll beat you ! " or "Bet your best card ! " or "I only play for high stakes " I honestly believe that Gwent is the actual main story line, the last boss is that fucker in the Vezima's palace who I've never managed to beat. I'll have him one day, I swear it. Ciri's just a second quest, my main quest is that son of a bitch Nilfgaardian Nobleman or something.

I hear you. I use dodge more often against humans and in fist fights, or only if I am fighting a single monster enemy. With more than one (as with wraiths, always wraiths!) you can dodge one but then the other will instantly get you. I can't say I'm loving how slow it is to cast signs, I only ever use Quen, Igni and now Axii more often because it paralyses the opponent and lets me really rail on them for some serious damage, quite often one hit kill. Potions I'm finding are (fairly) useless, and oils only give me a marginal advantage in battle. As for Gwent, yeah, I thought I understood how it worked, but I've been defeated countless times by people that all of a sudden lay down 2-3 cards in one go for no apparent reason. I also don't really understand when the round is supposed to end. Sometimes it keeps going as long as you have cards, and sometimes it just ends even though you still have plenty of cards and the other guy just beat you by say, one point or so. Oh well, I'll keep practicing I guess...
trpd Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 alt - dodge ? space - roll ? Ok if we name them like that you want to stick to dodging . Very few situtations require rolling like big creatures with wide attacks or when you are surrounded. Rolling halts your stamina regen for a second., dodge does not and also you are in range for attacking back. You should observe your opponents and react. for example you want to backstep from wraith attacks and after they vanish you can roll or do 2 backsteps because they go for 3 attack combo with forward movement. While charge from nekkers wolves drowners you need to sidestep. Minimalize use of quen it just turns fights into wait game.

I've started using dodging more and I am starting to appreciate the benefits. Also, feel downright epic right now. There I was walking down a forest, minding my own business, when I see this huge, creepy *thing* in the forest. I go and find out what it is and it's a level 22 leshen, to my measly level 11 character. After a grueling 10 minute duel, in which I had to dispatch a small horde of wolves it summoned, including a level 22 one, I finally managed to kill it. It was actually surprisingly easy. In other news, I'm a little disappointed to find out that the Novigrad/Velen map is one and the same. Because they are two distinct "areas" in the world map, I thought Novigrad would be like Velen, a huge hub in itself, rather than just a part of the Velen hub/map. It's very misleading on the world map screen...
...0... Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Novigrad is one of best city's ive seen in any game and huge. Bethesda could learn alot from CDProject and it's city's. 90 hours lvl23 33% complete and still love it only some bugs and combat still clunky with camera in small places.
