My bad. As I type this he's still adding to the thread and explaining things. Kotaku in Action isn't the most reliable source since they have a vested interest in riling people up. That being said, I didn't read 'they're taking control of your content and online activity' as a legal action but more of an informal statement. They don't use laws, they simply use their position as a distributor of money to get you to play along with their demands. It's the same thing all big tech companies do - sure, there's no one physically stopping you going against their wishes but there's also no one stopping them from simply deplatforming you. I think the freedom of speech rules need to be re-negotiated. They usually apply to the relationship between a state and its citizens but big tech pretty much owns the public space now while claiming they're still private businesses. Technically true but their reach is far beyond that.

It's not exclusive to those institutions, many things that are more or less isolated from the rest of the world are ripe for abuse. Boarding schools and churches are another example. I wouldn't be surprised if the doctor who 'diagnosed' and 'prescribed' did so because of some sort of sick fetish he had. There was no medical indication for the treatment whatsoever.

According to labor laws, a company is required BY LAW to be transparent on reasons for termination, you can't just sit on it. It can result in a company paying an extremely hefty fine or forced into Chapter 11.

I'm not sure if being a twitch partner is an employer - employee relationship in a legal sense. They usually avoid such things because they want to be able to terminate any sort of contract on their terms whenever they want. That's why many rules regarding the allowed content and behavior are intentionally vague. Since most ToS are bullshit you could potentially sue them but good luck taking on a giant like Amazon.
