As for zapping, i don't think i've ever had such an intense problem with static. The most i remember was this sweater i had to wear back one winter (hated the feel of it too) and every time i had moved i would feel zaps on my upper back and underarms. And that's why i don't ever wear sweaters (well i don't like the look of it on me so there's that too).

 

This made me think, what if someone charged a plastic dildo with static and used it on their clit? Extra stimulation?? For science!

So you're correct about China at least. The problem however is that when countries go from developing to developed status, the emissions increase significantly. Some people burning coal, wood or dung in their huts to keep warm or cook food don't matter that much, it's the industrialized countries that make up most of the pollution.

 

When it comes to overpopulation, general wealth decreases the amount of children most significantly. Example Bangladesh, which was a pretty horrible place to live in which is now expected to pass the threshold from developing to developed country in 2024, which went from roughly 7 children in the 1950's per woman down to 1.7 children in 2015 per woman.

 

When it comes to the eco cultists, well, it's mostly the media doing it. Actual scientists rarely get interviewed because science is boring, that's why you have all the alarmist language about climate change. Science didn't predict the world ending in the 2000's, but it did predict a rise in median temperature, which we now have. Media needs to sell itself and some OMG WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE TOMORROW READ THIS NOW clickbait sells better than a science nerd talking about data, how that data is collected and what that data is able to tell us. This of course leads to suspicion of the media and science directly because people conflate the two, they see the media lying and since the media claims to be scientific, it's obvious that people will also think that science is just clickbait. Science itself isn't entirely without fault, either, because even scientists need to sell themselves in order to be recognized and further their careers, that's why we have the replication crisis, especially in the social sciences and psychology - only about 30% of all the studies examined so far in these fields are able to deliver consistent results, 70% are pretty much bogus.

 

When it comes to ideology, you'll always have to ask yourself the following two things:

1.: Am I affected by it? Do I want certain things to be true and certain things to be false because my ideology demands it?

2.: Is the person I am talking to honest about the data or are the results skewed because only some of it agrees with their worldview?
