Was just about the only spot left... :P

Nobody ever remembers that it exists. Perfect place for a guessing game. I have few more places like that in store.

The Shrine of Talos west of Saarthal ? ?

Posted (edited)

Since we're on the topic of shrines, where is this shrine located?

For extra brownie points provide the exact name of the cell.

For extra, extra brownie points (this is sort of a tip) please also provide information on why a shrine to this exact deity is currently displayed in this location.

This last step is for those that truly, truly know their Skyrim inside out. Here's your chance to really show off that Skyrim holds no secrets before you.

It's Fort Sungard.

The cell is Fort Sungard Shrine.

I can only assume with your other question it is a shrine to Kynareth because the fort is still controlled by the Forsworn. If the Imperials had it the shrine would be to Akatosh. And, if the Stormcloaks had it, it would be a shrine (to who else?) to Talos.

Congratulations.

Now, please be honest, did you know about the last one in advance or did you just read about it on UESP?

Why, how could you even ask such a question?

I read it on the Wiki, of course!

I have no idea what those places are

Apologies, I deleted the great forest of Whiterun and those locations went with it, I have been on a break from Skyrim for too long, and have forgotten things.

I know my Skyrim, good sir.

This is Whiterun, if Whiterun had a huge rectangle in place of Dragonsreach, seen somewhere from the direction of Bleak Falls Barrow/Brittleshin pass (probably a rendering issue?).

But why is there an Ayleid/Snow Elf-style portal down at the Whiterun plains?

Spot on. No idea why Dragonsreach looks like that - something must have gone sideways with DynDOLOD.

I'm actually looking from just outside Bleak Falls.

Good eye. That's from a mod called Skyrim Wayshrines - Immersive Fast Travel. The plan  was to give me a fast travel option for Survival Mode without it feeling too cheaty. But having tried it out, there's a fair amount of work and expense both to learn how to activate the shrines and then to activate individual shrines. The activation quest is fun and well made, but honestly I think I'm going to uninstall it for my next run.

The wayshrines are kind of pretty though, which is probably why I've left it installed for this long.

Looks like your generic campsite-in-a-cave-trashed-by-trolls.

Darkshade?

Correct. I'm impressed. I wasn't expecting such a quick answer. This is not a place that's often visited. I'll have to come up with something more obscure next time.

:classic_wink: ?

Isn't that the mine right near Riverwood?  The one you pass on your way from Helgen?

EDIT:  Embershard Mine - I had to look up the name

I don't think so. I know which exact spot within you're thinking of, but there's no bridge.

It looks like an animal or spriggan cave, so it has to be one of the three:

Moss Mother Cavern

Pinepeak Cavern

Shadowgreen Cavern

Unless... this is a trick question and it's Helgen. But the chest doesn't fit so I don't think so.
