this is a reason why I love DAI without mods. :P  :P  :P

I personally would have liked more romance options like Vivienne or even Liliana which could have been fun if she had been with the warden in DAO sooooo many possibilities for that one.  :D

yes that's right, too bad that this is not possible, as you surely know Vivienne is married.

but a romance with Liliana would have been nice, too bad. :(

She's not married, she's a mistress...

"Darling" doesn't necessarily mean they are married, simply that they love each other, which actually surprised me, this scene ... I fully expected the build-up to this scene something treachery and all, really thought maybe sabotaging her demand ... glad I didn't ...

Mistress, in this sense, simply means "lover"

I loved my first playthrough, for the most part.  Took me around 90 hours or so. I started to tire of it towards the end, and even skipped a couple of zones as I just wanted to get it over with. But when I went back to try and start a second playthrough, I gave up pretty quick. I really get the feeling they originally intended for this to be an mmo, lots of big zones and fetch/kill quests. But when The Old Republic completely tanked, EA made them turn it into a single player game.

It looks great, the voice acting is top notch and it is, for the most part, very well written and in places, hilarious.

The keep system was an interesting idea, but had huge flaws. Leiliana died in my game, and thats the choice I made in the keep, but somehow she's inexplicably alive again.

I wouldn't even worry about the approval ratings. When you make a big decision, half like you, and half dislike you for it. It doesn't seem possible to get everyone's approval rating all the way up, and if you happen to support freedom for mages, most people will dislike you each time you say it.

All these conflicting opinions of everything drives me nuts. If you have Cass, Varric, Cole, and Iron Bull on your team, and you do something Sera would disapprove of, her disapproval happens, even though she's not even present. Makes deciding who to take with you on missions pointless. You'll get approvals and disapprovals from all members regardless. Everyone appears to have a "hive mind".

If you want full approval for someone, you pretty much have to say exactly what they want to hear, whether you actually feel that way or not. Takes away personal preferences, and the ability to be your own person. It's all about conformity and being a "Yes Man".

Hive mind? You just learn without dely what the consequences are, approval-wise, because surely the following is happening after the missions:

Sera: "So, what did you do when you were out there with the Quizzy? Kill some big bad fragon I guess?"

Iron Bull: "YES! And we didn't kill that one noble oppressing the litle people, the Quizzy gave him another chance...."

Sera: "What??!! *greatly disapproves*

Every decision you make is of importance, because the Quizzy is standing in the spotlight. So no way of keeping it secret. And when you make a decision, everyone will know about it. I also don't get the yes-man argument. So many people are always complaining "We wanna roleplay!", and then they don't dare because "We want a full approval bar, but when I roleplay, the NPCs don't like my role!"? Don't get this...

But yeah, the approval is keeping people somewhat in the dark. But at least better than showering them with gifts...

Yeah, but if they're not present, how do they find out immediately? I would leave the people who came with me out of the party when taking people who would obviously object to what I just did. It'd be a strategy. And I'm not complaining that some disagree with my decisions, I'm complaining that everyone has a very different opinion of everything said. It's been done that way on purpose, and this team is pretty much doomed, since no one can fully agree on ANYTHING. No one has anything at all in common with each other.

Also, most people have been pissed that gifts are gone since DA2. There may have been gifts, but it was a different system, and most seemed to prefer the DAO method. Gone altogether in DAI. Things like that shouldn't be removed entirely. It's one of the things that made DA what it is.

My verdict on DAI after 160 hours:

...don't believe me? See for yourself --> attachicon.gifDAI play time.jpg

Long version:

[rant]

I dislike all missions in DAI. I don't have a desire to go search a needlessly confusing area for a note, and I'm extremely fed up with things being right next to me, but I have to walk a 1/4 mile around a tiny little hill to get to it. I find myself spending around an hour a day trying to hop up a small incline, only to repeatedly slide right back down, no matter what angle I use to approach it, and when I DO manage to get really close, I find a fucking invisible wall! There's nothing in a video game that pisses me off more than an invisible wall! Never was, and never will be, and you find them everywhere in DAI.

I've skipped a mission or 2 simply because I couldn't find a way up a tiny hill. I get bored looking for things that are located "somewhere" in a big-ass area, and I have to search and find it, like I have nothing better to do. All these extremely bothersome and tedious tasks have made it so I basically skip reading every single codex. I already spend too much time attempting to get the item within arm's reach that takes me an hour of walking to get. I'll be damned if I wanna spend any time reading books. I struggle just to keep the game turned on long enough to make it to the next "exciting" cut-scene (people talking about politics).

The whole game basically takes place in a wasteland. Just a lot of ruins, and you have to mash jump (their exciting new feature) just to climb up small inclines, due to their frantic placement of small rocks everywhere, which all stop you as you walk up paths. I spend almost the whole game walking to my destination, and find no excitement along the way. This game bores me to tears, and I've already turned off DAI, and bought an old game. I now play Mortal Kombat 9 every day, and I started a new game on SR4. Almost uninstalled DAI when I found yet another typical rift full of basic enemies who slaughtered my whole high-level team over 20 times. I'm damn sure not trying to grind for 4 hours and backtrack to it later and try again. I want to move FORWARD.

I don't know anyone, and I don't really have the option to. Everyone's just a [Quest Start Point], and nothing else. I can name just about everyone in DAO off the top of my head, even after not having played it for years. I can only name main characters in DAI.

I don't like the horses because you have to get off your horse to fight enemies, and they're everywhere. Millions of 'em. The whole world, aside from the Inquisition, is your enemy, for some reason. I usually forget I even have a horse. At some point, they actually overdo the enemies. When I'm wandering around, and seeing fields of Giants and Red Templar Behemoths, and basic animals that take a million hits to kill, I just avoid all of them, and try to walk to my next piece of paper on the ground, until the mission finally says 'Complete'.

I think I hate the armor more than anything, though. Even more than the hair. No variety, and some seriously ugly choices. A blue chestpiece is not a different piece of armor from a red chestpiece, it's just a different color. I want at least some variety, and what happened to clothes? I want clothes too, like a normal person.

One example of something I can't stand is:

I went to a cave in the Emerald Glades, and it ended up being a "Chateau" of some kind. I went in, and saw a glowing orb on a balcony. I fought my way through a horde of zombies to get to the balcony door, only to find it locked. "Requires Balcony Key", it said. So, I search every inch of the entire building (place is enormous for a house), and fought about a hundred zombies. Searched all of them, and looted everything in the house, and didn't find the Key. I spent about 4 hours looking for it, and killing zombies, and it was nowhere to be found. Tried to shimmy across a ledge from one balcony to the one with the orb, but the ledge was "fake", and I fell right to the ground level. I left, pissed the fuck off that I just wasted so much time getting nowhere!

I was at least happy that I had leveled up twice, so I left, and walked to the nearest rift, only to get the shit beat out of me repeatedly by the same old enemies I've been killing all game long. The game just wasn't even worth continuing at that point, and that was the last time I played it.

I don't know guys, I'm thinking 'Fail' on DAI. It doesn't even remind me of DA. There are very few things I actually like about this game. I have minimal fun when playing it. I enjoyed DA2 much more. They should never have reduced most cinema to conversation. Cinematic scenes are what make Bioware games what they are. Without any action or appeal to cut-scenes, it's hard to find excitement. Simply killing enemies gets very boring. I dislike grinders. It's why I only put like 8 hours into Final Fantasy XI before hanging it up.

I find the addition of necessary grinding to be an unwelcome addition to DA. It puts the whole story on hold, while you kill tons of enemies, and I can't stay excited about a current mission if I know I have to beat an enormous horde of enemies and walk 5 miles to get to what is not an exciting end to the mission. Walk miles, pick up a piece of paper, kill everything, repeat. Nothing fun about it, and getting the same ol' armor as my rewards make nothing feel like it was worth doing. What's worse, to craft armor, you need to dig into resources that are needed to complete Requisition orders, like Geological surveys, and...making a nice necklace to please cultists.

If the game was just introduced, I'd say 9/10. Would have been an excellent start to a series, but since it's the sequel to the sequel of the great DAO, I'll give it a 6/10. That's a 4 point drop from DAO. I like the game less each time I turn it on. If I play it at all, I'll be playing MP.

Btw, has anyone played TESO? I kinda thought the online battles would be more like that, since the whole SP game is basically all open. MP has one set path for each map, and it all feels very enclosed and linear. I was hoping to meet up with other teams, and do battle against them, or help them in a quest of their own, and vice versa. This is just a team of 4 beating enemies over and over. The same could be said about ME3's MP, but this feels more lackluster, and I had a blast playing ME3 online, on any map, with any character.

I hate that I don't love this game! :o (siiiigh....I'm gonna have to change my name now. I'll be AwfulAlduin, or something)

Short version:

Ive told yah so but its to def ears hehe

From rabbit fan boi to hater hey, oh i love this ha ha.

I already told you guys this game has nothing to do with DAO it will never be same as DAO and its quality, ist dumb down console port and made for to days generation of console players.

The controls by PC game reviewers(and not those dumbs by PC gamer there payed to give good reviews)on youtube already showed its a CONSOLE game and tactical plus UI is not even close to what it was with DAO.

EA destroyer of game company´s and franchise, they only interested in making money and you people keep supporting them. so you deserved to be robbed by these company´s and con artists.

Do some research, saves you a lot of money and frustration before buying these games, i know you don´t listend and keep buying crap from EA but dont come here whine about it.

You just been robbed by EA:P

"Rabbit fanboy"? I loved DA a lot. "Hater"? It has now been changed too much, and the new style bores me. It's a shame what they did to one of my all-time favorites, so of course I'll say something. I'm AwfulArchdemon! It's DA! If I only said nice things, I wouldn't be being honest, and I done told everyone I was gonna give an honest review a long time ago.

When did you turn into a dick, dude? Used to be cool...wtf?

Anyway, if this is how you talk to me now, your opinion is worth nothing to me. The series was awesome, so I praised it. It turned into a boring grinder, so I don't like DAI. There's a difference between a fanboy turned sellout hater, and someone who just bought a crappy game that's the newest installment to a once-great series, and you're missing that.

About EA, destroyer of games...all true! Sucks!

Wanna talk shit? Fucking PM me! I gave a review, and all you've managed to do is talk shit for me no longer liking the series.

Merry Christmas.

Because she loves him, but she has clearly stated earlier in the game that she is not married to him. He, in fact was married to another woman who died only a few years earlier, and Vivienne was very friendly with her. I believe Viv also said the fact she is a mage is why a marriage to a noble of high court standing would be impossible, although that may just have been my interpretation of the situation...

The fact he thinks "rabbit fanboi" is a term instead of rabid, shows the level of intellect you are dealing with there :P

It's like I said many a post back, the game is terribly, terribly flawed. It's carried purely by the story and voice acting while the gameplay is a throw away aspect of it, so it probably would have been better as a David Cage style interactive movie, which is sad for the franchise. ¬.¬

I shouldn't even have replied. Too late though, and I'm not deleting it. This was already addressed by a moderator, and yet I opened my big mouth anyway, and fell for it, when I could have strolled by and ignored his ass. A mistake.

I just want a few fun missions, and nice armor. There's potential here for sure, but it's just not being used. I couldn't get the modding tools to work out properly, but I'm gonna try again. I forget what the problem was, but I need to find out, and make myself something nice. Hair meshing doesn't appear to be happening yet, as far as I know (if I'm wrong tell me!), but I wanna dive on that pretty quickly, unless awesome hairs are released beforehand.

I'll keep checking for hair mods, and post a link the second I see one. I'll also be on the lookout for meshing tools, and conversion tools. Need more hair, stat.

As for potential that isn't used... What happened to the "gameplay footage" they showed a while back saying that "decision have real impact" where you would have to choose between saving a keep or saving a town? I know it was a thing at one point, they even had a cinematic of Varric over the bodies looking all sad 'n shit, but where was that scene?! it was lie, more lies, for once I'd like game developers to promise AND deliver the damned cake! >.<

Funny how siding with templars makes almost everybody on your team throw a bitchfit and hate you for it. Blights, Tevinter Imperium, slavery, fade tears, terrorism, and a world fucking war...and the writers are still making most anti-mage choices count as "renegade". Hilarious.

They're either self-destructive idiots or they don't know their own lore.

How does it matter? Does it make a difference when you are notified after returning to Haven/Skyhold that some of your decisions (which surely cannot be kept secret) are pissing some people off? Its actually more realistic now then it was before ...and that a cast of such diverse people with diverse personalities have diverse opinions on the same matter? I really don't get this, sorry ... its simply not possible to make everybody happy in a group, maybe only if you go to the smallest denominator .. and even THAT has potential to piss people off ^^ I really don't see how this team is doomed simply because they have varying opinions. And it actually really doesn't matter than much anyway ...

And gifts yeah..."Hi, I just killed your former love-interest and betrayed your entire race, but here is a small pet-Nug, sure you like me again now?"

I am so glad this is gone, it was simply ridiculous .. at least in DAO. Slightly better in DA2, but simply unnecessary overall...

Sorry, what?

If you go the Templar route and ally with them (not indenture them), almost all your companions will approve/greatly approve...

If you go the other way and ally with the mages, all your companions (except Solas) will disapprove.

Edit : 171 hours in. Finished one playthrough, 60 hours into a new one. Annoyed by the grind, but have learned that I don't need to pick every flower, or gather all metals. That helps.

Awesome to see the details change from one World State to another. Sometimes leads to great surprises!

I remember that too. Same thing was for Bioshock Infinity, looks like you(dev) can talking shit this day and only few care.

Wasted $40 on DAI, haven't bothered playing it yet. Anyone beat it? How many hours did it take?

About a hundred hours, but I took my sweet time. Probably less if you power-game through the main plot and ignore some areas. It really depends on difficulty-setting, player-style (completionist?) and other things to determine the actual game-time you need to beat it

Well it´s obvious that you don´t know what shit talks and some critics hurt your feelings?

You take my reply personal lol that's sad you act like you do then on some reply on a forum. There was nothing personal about it i just stated some facts which happens when you complain about game thats what a forum is all about DISCUSSION.

If you can't take some honest opnion maybe you should not visit forums. PM why should i?..lol i do it in the open and if you cannot deal with this i feel sorry for you.

If i look at your reply you talk more shit then me you take it all way to personal, but it don't bother me.

First you praise the game like rabid fanboi(oh wait i cannot say this then your hurt sorry) and when some people say its shit you cry like baby and say i talk shit.

IGNORE me then if you can't take some critics and honest opinion i dont care.

For that guy who reply about mistake with english language and then say how my intellect is, lol i laugh at you.

It seems you people can't take some negative talk about your precious well i leave you with your precious then.

DAO was awesome DA2 was shit and DAI has nothing to do with DAO which is in MY OPNION superior to both games.

Sorry i speak negative about your precious people but its still a free world and freedom of speech.

Have fun DAI im done here.

The video scenes are stuttering and I lose audio

The combat system sucks compared to DAO

The loading times are complete crap

Even on the lowest of settings it doesn't change a damn thing for anything above excluding combat. Can't believe i wasted $40 on this.

three things you need to check and/or do to fix that.

first is to add this line -GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+ to your desktop shortcut

second go into msconfig and under start up select disable all. this will remove any and all programs that are taking up cpu resources

third is to make sure you have the origin overlay turned off.

Most companions took a massive dump on me when I sided with the mages. Solas approved, but he doesn't count because he is a bitch.

Anyone else detect similarities between DA:I and Dragonds Dogma ?

Dragon's Dogma was way better. But then again, Dragon's Dogma is way better than most games. And it's a console game, just like Demon's Souls/Dark Souls. Funny, ain't it.

Whereas DAO had the gameplay of a very dumbed down version of your typical run of the mill MMORPG - a very simple aggro/threat system and pulling single mobs from groups. Playing DAO felt like playing the Scarlet Monastery in WoW over and over again. Pull a single or as few as possible enemies at a time, CC the highest threat enemies like sorcerers, tank and spank, rinse and repeat. And the balance was completely broken. Runes not scaling with base weapon damage for example. Any rune was pretty bad with a weapon that had low attack speed and very overpowered on any weapon with high attackspeed. Grandmaster Paralyze runes on both daggers + Haste from your mage and your Rogue or Warrior (yes, if you wanted to play a DPS warrior, pick two daggers because 2handers were utter trash) could stunlock everything for days. If you want to be nostalgic and complain about dumbed down games, at least take a game with actual depth as an example, like Jagged Alliance 2. Or XCOM. You know, where careful planning and positioning + exploiting everything at your disposal actually mattered and was god damn necessary instead of DIS ENEMY BE WEAKZ AGAINSH ICE BUT NO TAKEY DAMG FROM DEM FIRE

So yes, I like DA:I better because it doesn't try to hide it's very simple combat system behind tedious and slow gameplay.

Have fun DAI im done here.

Usually its better not to comment on such exchanges but its sunday morning and ... why not? Just so much: If someone has actually played the game and changes his opinion that is totally legit, especially with a game that, beside all its merits, still has flaws that even I, as a "fanboi" of DAI, cannot deny.

But when people are just there and talking shit in the most gloating and arrogant way on the game they obviously never have and never will play, its hard for me to take their opinion as anything else then hate and the will to pick a fight with people that, omg (!), indeed enjoy the game.

And indeed, I rate DAO higher, much higher as well, for several reasons. And DAI is better than DA2, for me. And I am in a position to say and justify this, because I have indeed played all three games, and don't base my judgement on heresay, some short videos and my general dislike for modern game-distribution and development...

That entry only caused the game to go Matrix slomo, and the loading time is still lengthy.

-Stuttering video scenes (Missing many lines of audio because of it, thanks Biolame)

-Lengthy loading screens (Watching an entire episode of Law and Order while it's still loading shows there's a problem)

Not even going to reinstall since it's in other people's complaints. PC users got the EAxis dick hard up their asses.
